  1. Remove the limitation on posting manual journal entries to bank/cash accounts. I end up spending way too much time on manual workarounds (payroll entries for example, you have to use a "bill" to replace the functionality of a journal entry). It ends up taking way more time working around the limitation than its worth. As a new user of Xero, I'm incredulous. I've worked with multiple accounting software platforms over the years, and never been exposed to such a massive limitation like this. It's almost a dealbreaker, and for some clients it certainly is.     Thanks for the added detail, everyone. It's good to be able to share this detail back with our teams.

    Appreciate why Bank Rules won't help for cash accounts and where you don't have a bank feed coming into the account.

    Being open, this isn't something we have plans for changing in the short-term. We'll leave the idea open for our product team to continue considering how we could improve efficiency in some of the situations you've described. If there are any updates we'll share this with you all here.

  2. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) allows partners to fill out and submit a Partnership Tax Return (PTR) without being a registered tax agent or accountant. However, TPR is currently only available in Xero Tax, which is a professional tax preparation software package designed specifically (and only) for registered tax agents and accountants.

    Can I request that (like BAS and TPAR) the PTR report and lodgement features be made available in the base Xero software?

  3. Separation between Sales Tax/VAT/GST lock date and accounting period lock date.
    It would save a significant amount of time if VAT periods in Xero could have a separate lock date than the accounting period lock date. For instance, an invoice/bank transaction is still outstanding when filing a VAT return, and the VAT return date could be locked so once this outstanding transaction is completed at a later date, it would automatically appear on the next VAT return. This should be separated from the accounting period lock dates, as you still want to account for that transaction in it's relevant period,…

    Hi everyone, we wanted to return and give you an update here. As mentioned in our last post - we want to be forth right that we don't have any plans to remove 'Powered by Xero' from emails sent from Xero, with intentional purpose and based on findings from interactions we can see having true benefit to customers in getting paid faster. 

    That said, we appreciate the feedback we've received and have made changes since this was initially raised to reduce the size of the footer where this is shown and have removed the hyperlink to xero.com. We will continue to develop the invoice email to continue to drive improvements for our customers and the ways you receive payments.

  5. Please add the option to assign a planned payment date when entering bills / within the individual bill, not just from the overview tabs.

  6. Dashboard- It would be great if Xero gave us more options to edit out Dashboards. Two colums are not enough, at the most I get to see four accounts before I have to scroll, they needn't be so large either. If they had three colums, and we could shrink the size of the 'boxes' then we could easily see a better snapshot of work to do and where the business is at.

  7. On the classic invoicing there is a send button at the top by email, print pdf etc that you can use to send to another xero customer. This feature is no longer on the new invoicing version. It would be good to have the send button back

    Hi Samantha, when referring to send would this be the 'Email' button in classic?

    If so this is actually still available in new invoicing, you'll find the option in the 3 dot menu at the top of the page 🙂

  8. We raise an invoice to a client.
    They pay it.
    Then for some reason, something changes.
    We need to raise a credit note against that invoice!

    I know I can create a new one from scratch but I want the history with this particular invoice and all the other details that I have already typed into it.

    What I DON'T want - is to delete the payment, create the credit note, delete the allocation of the credit to the invoice, then reapply the original payment.

    It is not an option within Xero to 'copy to draft' and create a negative…

    Hi team, thank you for the detail in the flows you have when trading that create the need in being able to create a credit note from a paid invoice in Xero.

    While this isn't a feature we have planned for development, it'll be good to keep tracking the interest from our community. We will share if there are any updates.

It is crucial to be able to print or email statements to multiple or all contacts with received money transactions at once showing each received money transaction for the contact in a time period on individual/separate pages by contact. This is really needed functionality because any nonprofit entity needs to send giving/donation statements at year end. I have tried multiple reports and statements. I can create an Account Transactions report showing all the clients and the received money entries, but it doesn't allow me to separate contact on their own page.   10. Offline/Online Syncing Xero Accounting Desktop Program which allows for Backup?
    When you dont have internet connection and you need to keep the staff working, obviously the file is not distributed to the cloud, but when the computer gets internet access it Syncs all of its data with the cloud. Xero, when internet connection is lost, you could still use all the same functionality, then once it gets online then it Syncs all the information with the cloud.

    Appreciate wanting to enable staff to keep working when your internets down.

    As multiple people can work within a Xero organisation, we'd also have to consider the implications this could have if multiple people were working on the same items at once and how this data would sync when back online.

    Being open it's not something we have plans for but we'll start to track the interest in your idea here.

    Hi christine, is this a common situation you find yourself or business running into? It'd be good to understand more detail if there are common circumstances that lead you to needing to edit a batch payment after it's been created.

In Xero, under All contacts, would be great if we & please add had more columns or choices to add certain column of attributes of the contact showing if they are in a group, and possibly a last action date of last transaction, so that any can be easily Archived, when they haven't been accessed in a long while.   14. Please have a default bank account in the add payment function. Have to manually enter the number or search for the bank account through your whole chart of accounts. Old invoicing had bank accounts automatically in this box.

    Thanks for your feedback, Jacqueline. We don't have immediate plans for being able to set a default bank account for payment on an invoice, but we'll start to track this here and I'll share if there's any plans made.

  15. I'd like to enable one-click payments from customers when I send them an invoice, but only ACH, not credit card. As it is, if I enable ACH payments via Stripe, the system displays credit card options to the customer. When I try a custom branding theme without the credit card display, Xero will not allow any Stripe payment mechanism.

  16. Work and Income deduction as a reducing balance under statutory deduction. Work and Income have provided a total amount and a weekly amount to be paid there needs to be a function added to provide the reducing balance, this function is available in other statutory deductions.

  17. It would be great to be able to group certain lines of an invoice together (for example by adding some spacing between groups), to make long invoices more readable and logically coherent.

    It used to be possible to add spacing on the Classic invoicing page by pressing Enter a few times on the description field, but this no longer works on the New invoicing.

    Hi team, thanks for sharing detail of the value in this idea in the ways you invoice.

    We've just released a new line item grid in invoicing which includes the ability to manually add blank rows and shift these to where you're like them placed in your invoice.

    That said, I want to be transparent in how this works - When you save your invoice any blank lines will be removed. So, if you'd like blank lines to help break your invoice into sections, you'll need to enter a character in the Description field of the blank line. Even a full stop '.' or dash '-' would suffice. 

  18. When posting a payment /receipt against an "already entered" Bill or Invoice, it would be good to be able to do this from the Dashboard. This link could be added to the "+" on the Dashboard and could take you to a search facility to search for the Bill or Invoice. This would also save time having to search under Bills to Pay and Invoices awaiting payment.

  19. Will it be possible to have "description field" in the Deduction field of the Pay template? That can be changed or updated directly on the pay template. For example, to add the ending date for staff loan deductions.

  20. RE: Xero message delivery failure notification

    This is WORSE than useless - it doesn't tell you which email. We sent 24 invoices as usual to one company's three invoice clerks. We had three messages back covering two of those three clerks. It too 90 minutes with them checking every invoice in their system before we could work out which han't been sent.
    Absolutely dreadful system. Why is it impossible to tell us which emails weren't sent?
