Email to Credit Note
Draft Bills - Ability to create Credits from Draft Bill sent directly to Xero email
Suppliers email credits as well as Bills, why not have the ability to process a bill or credit through this area, a supplier is not going to invoice credits to one email address and invoices to another. Why can we not select if it is a bill or credit and process.
Purpose: to allow processing of credits through the Draft Bills seamless
cost effective: reduce the need for additional software such as dext or hubdoc, use xero.
Current process: open the Draft Credit, download the attachment, delete the draft bill, create a credit and attach the credit note emailed through in the first instance.

284 votesHi community, thank you to everyone who's shared and supported the ability to email credit notes to Xero.
We understand why you'd like to be able to automate the flow and entry of Credit Notes in Xero, however this isn't something we have plans of developing within Xero right now.
As mentioned in my last update it's possible to currently automate entry of Credit Notes in Xero, by publishing these through Hubdoc -You can find steps to connecting Hubdoc to your Xero organisation, or detail on publishing Credit notes, on Xero Central.
If there are any changes put in place for this, we'll let you know.

Fixed Assets - Allow for variable depreciation for Software Development Pool
Currently the custom Pool creation option does not allow for the specific depreciation requirements of a software development pool - First year to be Nil, the second , third and forth years at 30% and the final fifth year of 10%. Without this function the depreciation for these assets needs to be calculated manually.

NZ Payroll - Option to change employee anniversary date when on unpaid leave for more than 1 week
Where an employee takes unpaid leave for more than one week, it would be helpful if you could enter in the date in which the unpaid leave applies from so that the anniversary date can automatically be reset. The current set up is rather antiquated, and needs to be automated to ensure accuracy and ease of use.
2 votesHey team, thanks for your input. We appreciate your needs here, and have a bit of an update. For any organisations that started using Xero payroll in NZ from 5 August 2024, you'll find you can adjust the employee's sick leave entitlement date from their employee record. See more detail around this on Xero Central.
For all other organisations, don't worry this is also in the works but just has a little more complexity to it, we'll keep you updated of when this is made available to all remaining organisations, here.

Standard Branding Theme - Add Terms options for Purchase orders and Remittances
Current options in the "Standard - Edit Branding Theme" exist to add details/terms in certain fields that show only on (Invoice and Statement) or (Quotes).
Two additional options for maximising a field for Terms for (Purchase Orders) and (Remittances) would complete the set.......pleeeeease!!4 votes -
AU Payroll - Sort Pay Template items in order of relevance, not alphabetically
Pay Template - I would like to list the pay items in order of relevance not alphabetically by pay item name.

AU Payroll - Ability to generate timesheet report for hours paid vs hours submitted
We are wanting to create a report for timesheet information for hours worked submitted by employees, that have been reviewed by their managers, i.e. rejected and unapproved overtime worked. The timesheet report only lists the paid hours. We would like to know the hours submitted by employees on their timesheets, versus the hours that were eventually approved and paid for. Are we able to create a custom report for this, to work out unapproved (as revised by the approver) overtime hours per employee, for a specific time period. This information is needed to do the BOOT test each year for employees working unpaid overtime (better off overall test)

Stripe - Option to select and pay multiple invoices at once
It would be great if a customer could pay more than one invoice on their account using stripe, perhaps when sending a statement there could be a link for Stripe to include all items in that statement, many of our customers have lots of small invoices that require payment at month end and it isn't practical to ask them to make individual payments

AU Payroll - Pay employees across multiple bank accounts
Employees have requested their net pay to be paid across more than four bank accounts, though this function is not available. Increasing the number of bank accounts would assist employees and those processing payroll.

Invoices - Override GST by +/- 1c
Both Xero and XPM really need to have the ability to override the GST calculated by 1c either way to fix the GST rounding errors that continually occur. This would be more efficient than having to add a Cost rounding adjustment in XPM of 1c to have it then import to Xero showing this rounding adjustment on a separate line which then needs to be altered before sending to the clients. Having to do this for hundreds of invoices is very inefficient.

AU Payroll - Add all employee costs to the Payslip
The real cost of an employee is not shown on the payslip, even though things like Workcover, public liability, Qleave could be shown as percentages based on no of staff over a year. Eg $20k workcover is / staff/weeks of year/hours work this week or $200000 / 16 staff / 52 weeks and 200 hours worked = 0.12c per hour. Same could be shown for Public liability, and any other costs attributable to each staff member.
Also showing all forms of leave accrued in $$ values as well as hours gives a clearer picture to the staff member how much they actually cost.

Bills - Bulk assign tracking to multiple lines at a time
Could you please add a feature to fill a tracking category for every line in a bill or invoice?
I am dealing with multiple pages of line items on a bill and each bill belongs to different locations (tracking categories). Note that allocating the tracking category to the supplier account, won't work, because they deal with all our tracking locations. If we can add the tracking option once with an option to fill all the remaining lines, it will save us a lot of silly repetitive work. Currently, we have to type, select, tab, tab, tab, tab, and then repeat it for every single line item! Do this over a 40 to 50 line bill and then repeat this over multiple bills for different locations and you will quickly realise how painful this is.Could you please add a feature to fill a tracking category for every line in a bill or invoice?

It's important to note that it's not possible to undo a recode, so if you're unsure of how the features works at all we';d recommend trying it out in the demo company first.

Multi Currency - Exchange Rate Import and Export
Please look into the idea for Importing and Exporting exchange rate from Xero for the ease of update if default XE Rate is not used by the organisation and the export function to generate exchange rates used for the period.

Xero Projects - Automatically enter description as Supplier name
For all Xero Projects expenses, the only way to add the Expense name is to add a description for each expense. When we're tracking spend monies, receipts & invoices, this is a time consuming/ inefficient process. It would be ideal for the project expense to simply show the supplier name (when there's no description field added).

Debit Notes - Add a feature for Debit Notes issued by the supplier
To request with Xero to add in Debit Note feature, which it is issued by buyer/ purchaser to the seller where under this circumstance a debit note is given by the buyer/purchaser to the seller to reduce the total value of the bills/invoices.
Currently, only supplier can issue credit note, but as buyer in Xero can't really generate debit note if encounter return of stock/reduce total value of purchase invoices & etc

Email Templates - Ability to add Emojis to email templates (rather than individual invoices)
Ability to add emojis to email templates.
Currently, you are able to add the emojis when emailing individual invoices, but it is not possible to add the emojis to the email template.
If you try to add an emoji to an email template, Xero will delete it after saving it.
1 voteAppreciate the difference in what you're asking here, Christopher.
No plans to allowing inserting emoji's directly into the email template atm, but we'll track this here and let you know if there's any plans made.

Cash summary - Show working capital items as tax inclusive
New Cash Summary report vs Old: In the new report when you customise the new report to adopt the "Working Capital with other cash movements" format & report Gross, i.e. with VAT figures, the "Other Cash Movements" in the new version are STILL reported Ex VAT. IN the equivalent Old version, they were termed as "Non operating Movements" and would correctly apper as Gross, i.e. VAT included figures. In the new report instead, VAT on these items is reported as a consolidated item seperately below as "VAT movements". There needs to be a feature to report the above as Gross in the new version as well for consisitency in reporting of all figures appearing i the new report.

Bills - Remove "Forwarded Bill" note from the Reference field
I'd like the ability to remove the "Forwarded Bill" note from the Reference field on the Bills tabs.
Purpose: to make the data on these tabs easier to view. All of our bills are input via the Email Bill to Xero functionality - this note therefore appears on every single bill and is not only redundant but makes the actual references / invoice numbers harder to read.

AU Payroll - Remove past employees from drop-down menu in payroll reports
It would be great to be able to remove past employees from the drop-down menus when generating Payroll reports. This would be particularly helpful for businesses who employ a lot of staff members, especially if there's a high churn rate.

Bank Reconciliation - Attachment deletion alert when using Remove and Redo
When selecting Remove and Redo for Spend transactions, all attachments are lost.
If the attachments are receipts that were photographed using the Xero app, they are not kept on the Xero app either.
This means that selecting Remove and Redo is the same as throwing the original receipt in the shredder, not just in the bin to potentially be retrieved later.
A pop-up warning asking if you'd like to save the attachments to the File Library before removing and redoing would avoid the loss of the transaction's supporting documentation.13 votes -
New invoicing - Enable ability to set a dynamic invoice date based on a fixed due date
I have invoices that have a fixed due date, e.g 4th of the month, and would like invoices to be generated, and dated, a fixed number of days (e.g. 7) before this.
WHen it's not near the end of the month then setting the invoice date and the due date to be 7 days after is fine. The issue arises when the invoice dates cross a month boundary as the varying number of days in the month makes this awkward. I either need to accept a movement in the due date or set the due date to be fixed and a fixed invoice date and accept there may be more of less than 7 days between the two depending on the number of days in the month.
What I would like to be able to do is set the due date as the 4th of the month and then set the invoice as "7 days before", this would be a really helpful feature!
