Homepage - Simplify layout
The beta version of the new Xero layout. updated interface feels overly busy and cluttered, which makes navigation more difficult—particularly for clients who manage multiple bank accounts.
I believe users should have the choice to switch to the new layout when they’re ready, rather than being automatically transitioned.
Additionally, clients pay for Xero to streamline their financial management, not to have advertising pushed at them.
The current design detracts from the user experience and makes it harder to find and complete tasks efficiently.
Hi community, thank you for all the engagement and we can see the growing interest in improvements to help simplify your view of information on the new Homepage and navigate important information and insights with more ease.
Right now, our team have a few pieces of work underway intended to help with some of the pain points that have been raised here these include:
- More options for the sizing of widgets so you can reduce these frames and better position this information on your screen
- More customisation of information within a widget like being able to remove visuals
- Improving the experience of moving widgets when editing the homepage to make it more obvious when dragging and dropping them to different positions on the page
We’ve also roadmapped further changes for later this year, once everyone is on the new experience. I’ll share more updates as we progress.

I dont personally want ANY widgets on my homepage. If someone in my office is looking over my shoulder, I dont want them to see any accounting data that might be on my screen. When you have all widgets hidden, the homepage looks incredibly dull.

Having just been flicked over to the "new improved" home page today for our practice file, I spent so long rearranging bank accounts, etc on my office computer, only to come home and will need to redo the whole thing again, because that screen fits 4 widgets across, not the 3 that the office screen has.
The more user-friendly OLD home page, stayed the same, no matter how wide the screen – 2 widgets across.
You say that you are putting in more options for resizing widgets. Nowhere in this resizing is the option to make a widget smaller. The old Chart of Accounts widget changed in size depending on how many accounts you were monitoring. The new one is twice the size of the bank account, with all this white space if you are only monitoring a couple of accounts, or you have to scroll (or make larger) if you have more that 8 or 9 accounts, because, yet again, Xero have decided that everything must be S O S P A C E D O U T
So frustrating and such a waste of spaceThere is not ONE, SINGLE, USEFUL change that has been made with this supposed "upgrade"
The only thing Xero has been achieved here is to make it easier for people walking past to read PRIVATE FINANCIAL information because it is so much larger on the screen
Xero, get your act together, do you job and fix these glaringly obvious issues that you have created. We should not have to be guinea pigs to identify issues that you have created before you address these deficiencies
You have butchered and degraded what was once a fully functioning home page

The new home page is utterly overwhelming and has zero structure. Frankly you are moving us (forcibly) from a useful, ordered, logical streamlined home page to a mess, where items are listed without reason and is overwhelming.
PLEASE don't force us to this! -

Great way to start the week! This ‘improvement’ is a complete waste of everyone's time. Dashboard worked just fine before. Ditto the Archive/Filing fiasco.

Stop trying to fix something that wasn't broken, it's an absolute sh*t show now instead of something you could see at a glance what was what.!!

Please put back the ability to scroll down the page which allows us to add and place the widgets where we want them visually.
Many thanks -

Ironically, I have had to delete useful widgets I've always had on my Homepage because I can't lay it out the way I want to see it now, so I have less information available to me.
Please stop making senseless changes and listen to your cusotmers.

Please allow us to size the new widgets so we can determine our layout.
I don't love this new look - way too busy for me but with everything else you push on us I will have to get used to it, as you keep taking choice away from your customers.I prefer the current version which is very clean and easy to navigate.
I am not a fan of Xero I have to say.

I don't like the new version at all - it is hard to manage and the information is not easy to find at first glance like the old homepage.
Suggestion - Don't get rid of the old homepage.
Keep the old page as a Classic Look - and let us choose which we want to use.Would be much appreciated!!

The new layout whihc you are making compulsory in 2 days time just doesn't;t work for me. Every time I move a widget I have to spend 15 minutes reordering it; som of my accounts don't show. It is forcing me to seek a new provider as it's making me unproductive.

The new layout is too busy, too cluttered and as with most new Xero developments of late, forced upon users while removing cleaner, easier reporting and screen layouts.
For one Xero instance we have 11 "bank" accounts so this new layout is like a data headache and very painful to navigate. I also don't want the latent advertising for marketplace apps either at the bottom (thankfully you can hide this).
Whomever did the UX design for Xero is either adding a lot of white space, or a lot of data, rather than keeping things consistent and allowing for the fact most of us are using one screen. There should be smaller fonts, better relationships between headings, data, icons and buttons. From an accessibility point of view it is incredibly difficult to navigate.
Also, why are we being pushed with screen space eaten up with Analytics banners at the top of the dashboard that nobody wants? Again, this should be removed as it eats up screen space if you have already said you are not interested.
With this wave of disapproval, you must let users keep the old layout while these issues are addressed.

The fact this is changing over on the weekend is extremely sad, not once has Xero listened to the customers and what they need / what to work effectively and efficiently.
The lack of care for your customers will see a massive drop to your business. I will be in discussion to move away from Xero.
Please do better and listen to what people need, it just shows that Xero want to force it down out throat regardless of feedback provided.

Heartfelt concerns from Xero power users - with constructive responses, only to be met with these robotic soul-less responses.
Deeply disturbed by Xero's ZERO action.

How frustrating to watch three months of complains and concerns roll in on this thread with no response till now only to get a response that still shows a clear lack of understanding what their clientele needs and wants. These don't sound like fixes by any means with the usability because they're still running around trying to figure out the cosmetics of the new homepage when the cosmetics AND functionality of the old homepage was perfectly fine. The fact that I see many people in this and other homepage threads saying they are taking their business elsewhere over this shows the lack of trust xero is building with their client base. What a disappointing response. My recommendation is at the very least take the new homepage "look" and have it more laid out like the old homepage, similar sizes and spacing. Easy fix to the visual issues that people are having and then you can get down to the other details causing issues like the moving of the drafts to a less visible place and the bugs and glitches occurring with this new setup.

Workarounds for the new update aren't welcome. I don't want to be constantly customising my homepage when the current one suits my needs. Please start listening to customers.
