  1. The Vision: Every business deserves to send invoices and quotes that look as professional as the services they provide. Currently, Xero’s "Advanced Template" engine is built on 20-year-old legacy standards that "obliterate" modern branding, fonts, and high-resolution graphics.

    We are asking Xero to modernize the template parser to support the industry-standard OpenXML (.docx) used by modern versions of Microsoft Word (Office 2016/365).

  2. Invoice reminders are currently "all or nothing". I dont want to chase my good clients with automated messages from Xero becuse it upsets them but I do want some of my clients to have auto reminders about invoices about to become due and invoices overdue, those who generally are bad payers. In the same way we have email and invoice templates can we have invoice reminder templates and when we raise an invoice be prompted to apply a reminder template (or not). Or can the template for reminders be part of the customer financial details, in the way we can…

  3. When we create quotes we do not want the individual cost to be sent to the client as we may increase or decrease price depending on actual needs. Therefore I would like to send a quote with all the products/services itemized but not individual cost just a TOTAL?

    Hi team, thank you for sharing how this feature could improve your use of Quotes in Xero.

    While it takes a little work in setup, you could currently use an advanced branding theme and make changes to the docx template to remove fields you don't want shown to the customer.

    Being open this isn't something we have direct plans for developing right now, however we'll continue to track the appetite her and share if there are any updates.

  4. When printing an invoice I would like to go to the customer's account and bring forward the balance that is on their account.
    And have this balance on a line above the net amount for this invoice, which would then add the gross amount to the brought forward value and have aline below the gross amount of the invoice, showing the total amount that they owe to date including this invoice.

  5. Ability to use BPay reference number for invoice reference number.

  6. When entering after Qty field, amount is pre filled with 0.00 and when you type, it will put the amount after e.g 0.00120 instead of 120.00. Please remove the pre filled zeros as with classic invoicing and keep the new invoicing in line with everything else in Xero like bills and spend money etc. It is too different!😒

  7. Discounts - the ability for the discounts in sales to be allocated to an expense account rather than distorting sales figures. At the moment each line item has the cost of the item then applies say 10% discount equals net which then is allocated to the sales account. I would like the option to allocate discounts to an expense called discounts given so that we can track and show the correct sales figures. By distorting sales figures you could be affecting calculations like WET. other programs allows you to setup discounts given & taken and freight even.

  8. Instead of having the client simply click on "Accept" quote, they should be prompted to actually digitally sign the quote. If there is for example two people as the contact, then both of these owners need to sign the quote for it to be accepted.

  9. It would be great if there was a feature to display conversion details for invoices that are entered in the base currency. ie - your base currency is GDP and it shows the conversion rate in EUR

  10. Add payment method to the main screen

    If a Payment Method was on the main Invoice Awaiting Payment screen, maybe next the sent icon this would make things so much easier, you can also see clearly who is on Direct Debit.

  11. Ability to mark an invoice as "shipped". I want to use repeating invoices, but it's an administrative nightmare having to use an external method to track which orders have been shipped to the customer. It's not like you can even download just the invoice header information into a spreadsheet and use that. The export option downloads all of the lines, as well.

    An invoice could have a field like "physical item to ship" or "requires processing after payment" that could be used to filter for "unprocessed" items.

    A tracking number would be useful, too. Setting it to "shipped" would send…

  12. we should be able to do a csv bulk upload for receiving payments on invoices. the filed highlighted in yellow should be in a csv file, other fields such as invoice number or ref can be added. we do bulk upload and the invoice automatically updates with the payments.

  13. Ability to turn off invoice reminders based on the invoice branding template.

    This would mean we can prevent invoice reminders being sent to customers who have payments scheduled via direct debit.

    Thanks for sharing with us here, everyone. We appreciate there are many improvements our customers would like to see to improve their workflows for setting up invoice themes for their customers. We do have a product team that have been focused on improvements to simplify and enhance the look of branding applied to your invoices. Being upfront this doesn't stretch to adding invoice reminders at the branding theme level for the time being.

    We're continuing to watch and stay tuned to the ideas we have around this in our community and if there are any changes to share we'll post an update for you all, here.

  14. I would like for there to be the option to add a minus figure into a sales invoice in the Xero App - the same as the browser version.

  16. Since the new quote format was launched, we are no longer to insert a blank line in our quotes at the beginning of a new item. Previously, this allowed us to space out the quote a little so it didnt look too jumbled and allowed us to space the quote neatly over two pages instead of just having a line of a quote on the second page if it didnt all quite fit on the first. Please put it back to how it was and allow us to insert blank lines at the beggining of an item.

    Hi all, upon revisiting here we'll re-open this idea. 

    As you may have found - While possible to add a new line and drag & drop this to where you'd like it to sit in a quote. Once saved, blank lines that have no data in any field will disappear and lines with detail will condense. 

    Apologies for the earlier misunderstanding and we appreciate those who've feedback on the idea here too. 

    There aren't any direct plans for changing this behaviour for now. We have a keen eye on the interest here so please add your support through votes and importance. 

    For the time being, if you'd like to add a blank line in your quote you'll need to enter a character in the description field of the line - This could just be a hyphen or full stop 

  17. Ability to add unique reference numbers to transactions so that user can search by the Xero reference number.

    Purpose: Will be helpful in identifying which transaction belongs to the paper copy of the invoice in a client's records

    Hi everyone, coming back across this idea we do want to confirm at present for Sales you have Invoice numbers that do need to be unique in Xero. You could ask you customer to reference this as a look up. If you'd like to change this, you can set the Prefix and starting number from within your invoice settings and you'll find you also have options to set this for Quotes and Purchase Orders - More on this here 

    The 'Reference' field of a transaction is slightly different and does not need to be unique, many businesses use this in slightly different ways and I want to be open that we don't have plans for changing this behaviour anytime soon. 

    Appreciate there are some that would like to see a numbering sequence for bills and I'd recommend adding support to this idea where this is represented.

  18. In the Classic Invoicing, we could set a negative item amount which was useful to make it clear to clients that we had refunded something. It also corrected the stock levels in the inventory. In new Invoicing, you can set a negative financial amount but you are not allowed negative quantities, as such it is not clear and it messes up the stock inventory levels. You can do it via credit notes but this requires more things to be issued to clients etc.

    Hi everyone, thank you to everyone that participated in our teams survey from my last update. We appreciate your insights and these continue to help inform our teams of where they can best focus their efforts, as they continue to develop invoicing.

    We don't have any plans at this stage to increase the Description field character limit from 4,000, however we're interested to continue tracking the interest in community and understand what the optimal amount of characters would be for our customers.

  20. What happend -
    I imported invoices with an invalid account number. When I went to review the imported invoices in draft, the new invoicing AI technology selected suggested account codes for me, almost to fast for me to notice the account code was blank

    Why this is important -
    The "review draft invoices after import" step is critical in getting it right - I should be able to review exactly what I imported to see where the mistakes are. I can see this being an issue with integrations where invoices are imported via the API
