  1. Include the payment dates and payments made when sending invoices to clients.
    Currently once the invoice is downloaded or sent to client, it shows the total amount paid, but not broken down by date as per the screen shot i have attached. Currently it only shows «InvoiceTotalNetPayments»

  2. In New Invoicing can the Date field be left blank when in draft status as per previously. Regularly I create draft invoices and want to continue to be able to leave the date blank or to put tentative dates in before moving forwards int he process.

  3. When printing an invoice I would like to go to the customer's account and bring forward the balance that is on their account.
    And have this balance on a line above the net amount for this invoice, which would then add the gross amount to the brought forward value and have aline below the gross amount of the invoice, showing the total amount that they owe to date including this invoice.

  4. Apportion payment to specific line items on invoices. This would allow you to choose where to apply the payment, making it possible to have invoices with multiple payments to have the sales taxed/no sale tax payment correctly and just not proportionally.

  5. We are a multi-currency business. We send out invoices in GBP (base currency), EUR and USD. We have 3 bank accounts (GBP, EUR, USD. I therefore had to create separate invoice templates for each currency, to show the correct bank details. I added the relevant invoice theme when setting up a new contact (customer). This works well when raising an invoice. However when manually sending out a statement it does not take the invoice theme from the one chosen on the invoice (= in our case normally default invoice theme on contact).   7. Bulk download of invoice PDF files (not export csv)

    Currently after doing a search, what I understand the current process is:
    - Going under Paid / Unpaid tab under Invoices
    - Checkbox all and select print
    - But this clumps ALL the invoices into a single PDF file instead of one file per invoice number
    - Using an online tool to split the invoices. If your invoice is more than 1 page long, you'll need to manually merge them back.
    - Alternatively, manually clicking each invoice link, hitting the Print PDF button. Going back and repeat every invoice.

    Thanks for stepping out the process for others here, Vicky. You're correct in the way this currently works. 

    It'd help when sharing back with the team if you could share more detail of why you'd like the ability to export in bulk but create individual files. What would this help your business do? 

  8. Kelly, the procedure to copy an invoice was improved, but it is still erroneous. We have tracking category (department) recorded in customer's settings. But for some customers we issue invoices with the other department tracking category.

    New invoicing does not copy that "other" category. When the invoice is copied, all customer's default settings applied to it. In my particular case, it is wrong. I do not want customer's default tracking category; I want a copy of the INVOICE with the correct tracking category. In short, the new invoice is to be an EXACT copy.

  9. Currently, when a client clicks on "Ask a question" when viewing their invoice. This message is sent to the staff members personal email that created the contact in Xero rather than the delegated email address the organisation has selected in Email settings.

    What if the staff member no longer works at the company or these emails are being missed as they are not sent to the organisations delegated email?

  10. Currently there is no easy way to review the on/off status of invoice reminders for Customer unless they have an outstanding balance, and even then this is only on screen and not exportable, so either a way to filter the Customer list for those which have invoice reminders turned off, or just a report that can be run with a column for the reminders status (on/off and number of reminder sent) would be useful for better credit control review.

    Hi team, while we intend to explore more controls of notifications long term I want to be upfront that we don't have any plans for changing the existing invoice notifications in the near term.

    There are also factors on the recipients email providers end that could make this notification difficult to provide with certainty.

    Right now, you'll see an event in the history of an invoice when an invoice is sent from Xero, and you could also choose to send a copy to self as a measure to ensure the invoice can be received in your own email inbox. If you'd prefer these not appear in your direct inbox you could set up a filter to route these to a folder.

    We appreciate the interest here but want to be honest and open with you here.

  12. Ability to replicate standard invoice branding theme appearance to look like online invoice.

    Hi everyone, we're excited to share that we are in the process of releasing a new experience for branding with the new Invoice template editor!

    Eventually replacing the Standard branding experience, the new editor allows you to customise and personalise the look of your invoices in a simple form, with a side by side view so you can instantly see how changes will look on invoices sent to your customers. This is in the process of rolling out to all regions, already readily available in AU, NZ, US and the UK. 😊

    I'll be back to share once the roll out is complete.

  13. we should be able to do a csv bulk upload for receiving payments on invoices. the filed highlighted in yellow should be in a csv file, other fields such as invoice number or ref can be added. we do bulk upload and the invoice automatically updates with the payments.

  14. The ability to mark any/all invoices as sent - even if using the copy/share function to send invoices to clients.

    Not all invoices are sent via email. A tick/flick box to mark off any invoices that have actually been sent via the copy/share function would be handy. There could also be another box that would act as a reminder to follow up after 'X' amount of days if the invoice remained outstanding, in the same sort of format that follow-up emails are automatically sent for payment reminder.

  15. While it's nice to be able to enter a fixed value discount in our business we use % discounts only. We find the new quote discount field feature that requires a % for the discount or it defaults to $ amounts is causing us to make errors. This is especially confusing as it use to default to % and the invoice still does. I have a couple of suggested updates:
    - Create a site wide setting to choose whether your default is $ or %.
    - Include a dollar symbol when it is a fixed amount discount to highlight it's…

  17. How come the process of designing invoices is so painful? It would be great to have a built-in drag and drop invoice designer. I realise it won't be easy but it's mad that our only option is to design them in Word. There are so many sites that allow similar functionality, albeit for non-finance related areas like marketing.

    Hi everyone, thanks for engaging and sharing how this feature could improve your experience using Xero. I'm happy to announce that we have rolled out a new invoice template editor which is currently available to AU, UK, US and NZ organisations.

    This new experience allows you to easily upload your business logo, auto applies your branded colouring and has simple tools to customise the look of your invoices, with an easy side by side view to see what a change will look like!

    Hi everyone, we appreciate the interest for being able to add QR codes to invoices. 

    While this is something we started looking into this is not something we're developing. 

    To set the right expectation I'll shift this status to submitted and we can continue to track the interest here. 

  19. Allow users to enable additional, custom reference fields.

    Please add the ability to enable additional, custom reference fields on sales invoices via the 'Edit Branding Theme' screen, to support business in the motor industry.

    These fields would allow invoice issuers to record vehicle specific details such as:
    - Make / Model
    - Registration
    - Colour or Mileage

    Currently Xero invoice only support a single entry reference field, and so users at present must rely on line descriptions or notes, which are inconsistent, unclear for customers, and increase queries and disputes. Competing software such as Quickbooks already support these additional invoice…

    Hi Susan, thanks for raising this here. Appreciate that there are certain fields which are required to process motor trade invoices. At the moment, the DOCX branding theme can be customised to show a few fields. However, we understand the need for custom fields so we'll open this idea up for the community to add their support.

  20. ISO 8601, the international standard for date and time formatting (adopted in the UK), defines Monday as the first day of the week. In invoicing Sunday seems to have been adopted recently and I can see from another thread this was deliberate, but this is NOT UK standard and our calendars adopt a Monday start so will confuse all UK users. Maybe adopt a setting where the user can define the setting instead of trying to suit the whole world...

    Thanks for your feedback, Sally. We appreciate there may be different preference for this.

    You're right this was a brief change that was made in invoicing however in consistency with how calendars appear in other areas of Xero this has been changed back and we also received feedback for calendars to run Sunday - Saturday.

    While we will track the interest from others in this here we want to be upfront that we don't have any further plans for changing start dates of this calendar.
