Customer Statements - Totals for each column
It would be useful to look at an activity statement to see how much a certain contact has been invoiced regardless of whether they have paid or not. At present, I can only see outstanding balances.

Quotes - Tax status & Delivery Address when invoice is created from quote
It would be nice if when converting a quote to an invoice that Xero would be able to recognize tax status of customer, and would automatically bring up delivery address.

Online Invoice - Turn off CSV option
Be able to remove the csv file option when viewing invoices online. I have a template set up which gives a detailed description but only a total price as I do not want customers to see the individual prices. However if they view online and download the CSV they can see this detail. It only seems to happen when emailed to Gmail accounts as we don't include the invoice link in the email. I now have to put in 0's for each line item and manually enter the total amount.
4 votesHi team, while we appreciate your interest in being able to restrict the export formats of your online invoices, we want to be upfront that we don't have any plans for changing these options at present.
We are continuing to gauge the sense of support in this through this idea, and I will share if there are any updates.

New invoicing - Remove split screen when sending
The split screen when sending an invoice makes everything cluttered. I already approved the invoice, I dont need to see it as I add an Email address
4 votesSorry to hear you don't like this feature, Richard. We've heard from others that this helps them get a better picture of what their invoices will look like when sending to a customer and enables them to make changes on the fly without having to preview or send a copy to themselves first.
Appreciate it might not be everyone's cup of tea and while we don't have any plans for removing this atm, we'll get a sense of the interest through the idea here.

Sales invoices - hold selection when navigating pages
It would be great if the awaiting payment area would allow more invoices to be shown, currently it only allows up to 200. Or if it had the ability to save the invoices you've selected for payment and you could go to the next page without loosing the invoices you had already preselected.
4 votesHi Sarah, there is a limit of including 50 invoices in a single batch deposit atm. Is there any commonality between invoices that you pay that could possibly be searched and bring them into the one page?

Quotes - Ability to Schedule date and times quotes are sent
Schedule date and times quotes can be sent out.
3 votesThanks for sharing how you'd like to see the recent feature we've introduced in invoices expanded to quotes, Jonathan. Understand wanting more control and professionalism of transactions you're sending from Xero.
We'll be sure to share if there are plans made to implement this feature for quotes too.

Global discount in Quotes/Invoices.
It would be useful to have a button to apply a discount to all lines in a quote/invoice at once, instead of having to edit them one at a time. Alternately, a global discount line at the end which applies a discount to the whole quote/invoice.
3 votesHi Anthony, it's currently possible to set a discount % for Sales transactions within a contacts record. This default will be applied to both invoices and quotes you raise for that Contact - Does this suit your needs here?
I notice you also mention being able to set a discount for the total of the invoice - we have a separate idea that you may like to vote for across here.

Invoicing - Ability to link multiple contacts to a single invoice
It would be great to be able to select certain contacts for certain invoices.
We have different contacts within the one client, and they might book us for different jobs. For instance, John from Company X will book us for services and Sam from Company X will also book us for services on a different job. We need to invoice them separately, but they are from the same company.
Currently, we have them all down as contacts for Company X and so every invoice emails them all. Even if you edit the recipients for sending the initial invoice, there's no…
3 votesHi Zoe, thanks for bringing this idea to the community. Linking multiple contacts to an invoice could help make sure the right people receive the invoices and reminders.
I've updated the status to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest. If this were introduced, how would you like the contact selection to work? Your input could help shape the approach that would be most useful.

Attachments - Allow xlsm (Excel Macro-enabled Workbook)
I have to attach and include my back up when sending invoices.
Some of the back up is in .xlsm format (Excel Macro-enabled Workbook).Currently Xero won't allow attaching these: "File type isn't supported. Update it, then try again."
So I have to open and resave each document before I can attach, which is an unnecessary extra step in the process. It would be much more efficient to be able to attach the original document.
3 votesThanks so much for taking the time to share this idea 🌟
While we don’t currently support this file type, we can see why you’d like the ability to attach it in its original format.
We’re moving your idea to Gaining Support so we can gauge community interest and better understand how many customers would find this helpful in their invoicing workflow.
If others would benefit from this too, we’d encourage them to add their vote and share a little more about how they use these files, as that context can be really helpful for our team.

Multicurrency - Use buy/sell exchange rates instead of mid-rate
Use buy/sell exchange rates instead of mid-rate when generating invoice items from bill items that have been assigned to a customer.
Currently when entering a bill in foreign currency you have ability to assign the expense to a customer.
When generating a corresponding invoice the mid-rate from XE.com is used to convert the bill item FX amount into home currency. The mid-rate is always inherently wrong, as nobody has the ability to buy or sell currency at that rate.
This means that we have to manually find the correct buy exchange rate, do a calculation and then change the amount…
3 votesHi Ashlin, thanks for sharing this idea. We can see how having the option to use buy and sell exchange rates, rather than a mid-market rate, could provide more accurate foreign currency reporting for businesses that transact internationally.
Currently, Xero uses a mid-market exchange rate by default, although you can manually override the exchange rate on individual foreign currency invoices and bills when needed.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are particular multi-currency workflows or transactions where this has the biggest impact, let us know as those examples help us better understand the feature.

Invoices - View Inventory availability when selecting item
It would be very helpful to be able to see the availability of inventory items when raising an invoice or quote.
I know this is possible once an item has been selected but it would be even better to see availability of all the items on the suggestions list, in order to select only available items.3 votesHi Peter, appreciate your suggestion. We can see how displaying available stock levels while selecting tracked inventory items on an invoice could help users confirm availability before adding the items to the invoice.
At the moment, you can view stock on hand from the Products and services list, and Xero will also warn you if the quantity entered on an invoice exceeds the available tracked inventory. However, having this information visible during item selection could help streamline order entry and reduce the need to switch between screens.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. If this would improve your workflow, it'd be great to hear more about whether you'd like to see stock on hand, available stock after allocations, or both displayed on the invoice.

Invoice - Ability to hold and release bond/security deposit
Can we get a simple way to hold and release bonds. This would be MASSIVE and help with compliance.
3 votesHi Dejan, thanks for bringing this idea to the community. We understand the request for a way to manage bonds or security deposits within the invoicing workflow, including holding the amount separately and releasing or applying it later. This can be useful for businesses that regularly work with deposits alongside standard invoicing.
The idea is to introduce a clearer way to track and manage security deposits through a dedicated hold and release process, rather than relying on manual workarounds such as liability accounts or journals.
For now, deposits are typically managed using standard invoicing and liability accounts, with manual tracking used for holding and returning funds where needed. We appreciate this can add extra steps depending on your workflow.
We’ve updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support. If this would be useful in your process, please add your vote and share how you would use it.

Overpayment - Audit trail back to bank statement line
Currently, there is no path to follow to an overpayments origin. We need to be able to see which transaction this overpayment came from when there is disputes over the account.
3 votesThanks for sharing this idea with us, and for letting us know this change would be helpful for you 😊
We’ve now moved your idea to Gaining Support so that other customers can vote on it and add their feedback too. This helps our product team better understand how many people are looking for this and the impact it could have.
If this is something others would also find useful, we’d encourage them to add their vote and share a little more about how this would help their workflow.

Invoicing - Invoice status for An invoice that is still an order
Hi all,
I would like to float the idea of including an 'Order' button/tick box on the invoices.
The 'Order' flag would indicate that this Invoice is still 'In progress' and has not been fulfilled. In this situation the invoice has been created as the Quote has been accepted, however the invoice is not sent for payment until the order has been completed. This would also mean that this invoice is not included in the statement that is sent to the customer..
This would help with the customers that have terms and/or have agreed to not pre-pay, however pay on…

Projects -Ability to send separate statements for projects to same contact
We have two projects running under one contact and it is not possible to send two different statements. I have to duplicate the contact or create a manual statement.
3 votes🌟 Thanks so much for sharing this idea, Larissa. I can appreciate how frustrating it must be to have to duplicate a contact or create manual statements just to manage separate projects under the same customer.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand how many customers this would help. We’ll continue to monitor community support and interest, as feedback like yours plays an important role in helping us understand where improvements are needed most.
We really appreciate you taking the time to explain your experience and the workaround you’re currently having to use.

Invoice: Round GST on subtotal only rather than line-by-line
This is based on an actual example.
I had an invoice for around $15000 which consisted of around 10 line items. It appears Xero calculates GST per line item which is rounded (which is fine) and then for the total at the bottom appears to add up the rounded line items. What this meant in my case was that the GST total was 1 cent out where on my invoice it showed $2037.59 and on the purchase order I had it was $2037.58. The latter was the correct amount. What this meant was that this was enough for a big…

Invoice - Ability to rearrange invoice columns
When using the invoicing system in Xero, there is no ability to move columns around. It would make my workflow much easier if I could enter quantity first, followed by product code, as this matches the standard ordering format in our industry. When customers place orders, they typically specify the quantity first and then the product size or code.
In our previous system, we were able to click and drag columns into any order (similar to how line items can currently be rearranged in Xero). However, with the current fixed column layout in Xero, I often find myself writing phone…
3 votesHi Scott and Janine, thanks for sharing your feedback here.
We understand why having the ability to customise invoice column order could make invoicing workflows easier, especially for teams that process a lot of invoices or follow a specific data entry process.
This idea is suggesting the ability to rearrange invoice columns directly within the invoice screen, allowing businesses to set up the layout in a way that better suits their workflow.
We’ll continue to track feedback and interest around more flexible invoice layouts.

Invoices & Emails - Support Markdown-style text formatting
A simple solution for those that want to format their text when emailing would be to allow formatting that WhatsApp uses, where you simply add * either side of word or sentence that you wish to format as bold, for example.
https://faq.whatsapp.com/539178204879377/?helpref=hc_fnav&cms_platform=web
3 votesThanks Eamonn for the feedback here. We hear that having a quicker way to format text in invoices and emails would help improve clarity and workflow efficiency.
Being able to apply simple Markdown-style formatting while typing could make it easier to emphasise important information like due dates or payment terms. This has been moved to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest and share it with the product team.

Invoices - Expand native e-invoicing (Peppol network) support to European countries
Ability to send e-invoices to Europe (in Euro via Peppol).
This rolls up many other product ideas about sending e-invoices to European countries e.g. Spain, Germany, France, Belgium.
All that is required is an update to the Contact form (which currently just has ABN) to include a field for the Peppol Participant ID. For example, OpenPeppol (AISBL) itself has a Belgian ID of "0208:0848934496" (ISO6523-country-code:country-company-number).
3 votesHi Rick, thanks for raising this idea. We understand you’re looking for Peppol e-invoicing to be available across European regions, making it easier to exchange invoices with customers and suppliers through the required networks.
This could help streamline compliance workflows and reduce the need to manage separate solutions.
We’ll continue to monitor feedback and input from the community here, especially around which countries they'd like this feature to support.

Invoice reminder - Reply to Email Default to Logged In User
Currently when invoice reminders is turned on by the client, the default address is for the reply to emails seems to be the Subscriber's email. Would be good if it was the email of the logged in user by default.
3 votesHi Melissa, appreciate you raising this. We understand you’re looking for a way to personalise invoice reminder email routing based on the user or team member sending the reminder.
This could help keep communication connected to the right person and make follow-ups smoother.
We’ll continue to monitor feedback from the community and gauge the demand.
