Email Settings - Specify date/time to send transactions
Ability to specify date/time when users’ want to send emails from Xero.
Purpose: So clients/customers can receive the email during the working hours and not at random time.
Hi team, discovery went well and has provided good insights to our product team. Things have now moved along and I can share that we're working on a solution that'll enable you to schedule when an invoice is sent, and the ability to cancel a scheduled send if needed. 🙂

I was really surprised to see that this wasn't a feature of Xero, and then disappointed to see how long people have been asking for it. Unfortunately, most of the features I look up which are not yet available seem to be met with the response 'we don't have a date yet to develop this'. Surely the roll out of the new invoicing page would have been the ideal opportunity.
Anyway, thank you to the contributors who have offered work arounds using invoice reminders and one-off repeating templates. -

We only send invoices after the work is done but it would help greatly with admin efficiency if these could be raised earlier and scheduled to send the day following the booked job. It will also allow small business owners to actually go on leave - and this is the market Xero claims to support.

Also, as a small business a lot of my bookwork is done in evenings and on weekends, but I don't want clients to know when I am working, last thing I want is a phone call on Saturday afternoon because they know I'm working. Being able to load the invoices up for sending on Monday morning is much better and a standard feature on mail software now.

This would be fantastic - especially if customers want to do payment plans, you can schedule the invoices to go out on the date agreed

This feature is important for small business users to issue invoices at the correct days/times. For example, I work on all the accounts mid month and end of the month. I create all the invoices to send on the 5th of every month. It would be great to work on the accounts end of the month, create all the invoices and have them automatically send out on the 5th. Please consider adding this feature!

Totally essential function for our business as we have to keep going back and forth into Xero to send and make reminders for our team to move from draft and then to actually send. Lots of wasted time and also the real potential for error of not being sent out at the appropriate time! Please please put this function into place

This would be great! For example I have a large enterprise customer who asks that invoices not even be sent near the end of the quarter as they work to close the books. I think it's a dumb policy, but a delayed send feature would help me accommodate it better. And there are many other cases where I need to send the invoice on a particular day and would like to set it up in advance.

I appreciate not every idea can be incorporated, but this was originally proposed in 2015 and still nothing has been done about it.
Surely Xero doesn't believe the validity and value of an idea is based solely on the number of people who vote for it here? I know many Xero users who don't even know the forum exists, let alone are bothered to contribute.
An idea like being able to schedule invoices shouldn't need thousands of votes as it's a basic simple function (not necessary in implementation, I appreciate that, but from a user's perspective) that should come as standard. I mean I can schedule emails to send on my free email client software, which is rarely needed, yet on something as potentially valuable as scheduling invoices to send, I can't do that on a platform I pay for.
Can someone at Xero PLEASE respond/acknowledge this thread and give us some idea of whether or not, after 8 1/2 years, this idea will ever be implemented?

Simply be able to schedule any invoice on a specific date and time.
There is already a feature request for repeating invoices but small businesses often have single emails/invoices to send and it would be great to schedule one-off emails.
Eg. It is the 30th of November and you have a non-repeating invoice that will be due on December 15th and you would like to send it on the 8th of December. It would be nice to be able to schedule it be sent out on the 8th automatically and not have to log in again on the 8th to send it. It would be great to schedule it.

I would dearly love to be able to create December 2023 invoices before Christmas to be sent on the 2nd January, so that I wouldn't have to come back from holidays early just to ensure continuity of cashflow later.
I'd also dearly love to be able to create the payroll that's due for automated payment during the EOY break before I left to visit family, and have the payslips send on the day that it's scheduled for payment! It's not a break if I have to log in to send payslips, it's technically illegal in Australia for payslips to be sent that early (under the Fair Work Act 2009 they must be sent within 1 working day of the date of payment), and it's definitely illegal for them to be sent after I get back from holidays.

Option to set the time (as well as day) that invoice reminders are emailed out. At the moment emails will be sent just after midnight which is inappropriate for customers (if they don't have their email alerts set to silent).
