  1. As a Chartered Accountant, I’ve observed an issue in Xero’s handling of sick leave entitlements that I believe warrants improvement. Currently, if an employee is not included in the pay run closest to their sick leave entitlement date, the entitlement does not accrue. This creates a significant gap in compliance with employment obligations and adds unnecessary administrative burden to correct.
    To enhance the functionality and flexibility of Xero's payroll system, I think that sick leave entitlements should automatically accrue when the employee is included in any future pay run following their entitlement date. This adjustment would ensure compliance with employment…

    Thanks for your feedback of how Xero handles sick leave entitlements, Natalee.

    I've made sure this is shared back with our product team, and while we can understand the reason for change you'd like to see here, we want to be open that this isn't something we have planned in the immediate future.

    Right now, if an employee isn't included in the scheduled pay run when their leave anniversary date falls, you'll need to do a manual leave adjustment to grant the employee the missed entitlement.

  2. When using the xero me app to capture an receipt image to upload to an expense, the capture is much too quick, and does not allow enough time for the phone camera to focus. Also it does not support multi receipt capture.

  3. It would be wonderful if there is an option where employees can add R&D work hours in timesheet where the employers can filter the R&D hours separately for each employee

  5. We are long term users of Xero and find many aspects of its functionality make our accounting functions easy! This is not the case in terms of Payroll entry….The Xero Me App does not come close to meeting the needs of a small business like ours….and I am sure we are not entirely unique!

    Our business is predominantly made up of casual employees who work different hours from day to day/week to week. Many of our employees also drive vehicles and require kilometre reimbursement.

    The biggest challenge we have is the accurate recording of employee hours…unfortunately, we have issues around…

  6. Currently, when you connect your Xero login to myIR, Xero automatically files the pay run with the IRD as soon as it is posted. Unfortunately, there is no option to opt out of this automatic filing without disconnecting from myIR entirely.

    It would be much more flexible if posting and filing could be done as separate steps. While it's possible to have another user who isn't connected to myIR handle this, small businesses often rely on a single person to manage the entire payroll process.

    We would prefer to post the pay run, send payslips, complete banking, and then submit…

  7. Xero Payroll restricts the payment date to no more than 90 days after the end of the payroll period. This isn't a legal or taxation limitation, but does restrict the occassions where clients are paying payroll in less regular intervals (such as paying their entire salary annually).

    Hi team, while we appreciate the request here,considering compliance requirements for payroll in AU we want to be upfront that we don't have plans for changing the ability to set the payment date beyond 90 days.

    For any employees that you may pay on an annual salary basis, we'd recommend setting the payment date 90 days before the employee's annual pay date.

  8. It would be helpful if there was a payroll report which shows any variances since the prior month's payroll run.

  9. Xero has removed the ability for casual employees to apply for annual leave if that leave is available to them. Annual leave is part of my casual employees employment contracts. The employees and I have agreed that they will receive annual leave and sick leave.

    These leave types were catered for in the past and the employees were able to apply for them when required. Now, despite still accruing those leave types, they are unable to apply for them.

  10. When closing a UK PAYE scheme in Xero Payroll, I struggled to locate the option to end a PAYE Scheme within the system but found guidance in Xero help resources.
    I suggest moving the "scheme cease date" box to the "HMRC" Xero Payroll Settings tab for better visibility and less confusion.
    Your step-by-step explanation was helpful, but some adjustments could enhance user experience.

  12. Expenses, the Categories field should be wide enough to display the text on the website. Note that the mobile app works fine.
    Or there should be the ability to nest categories.
    As a web developer, widening the Categories field should be trivial. Apparently not according to Xero support....

  13. Our business is growing, and now we employ over 60 employees. Is it possible to have more than 50 employees listed on one page for payroll processing?
    It looks like '50' is the maximum of line items in the drop-down menue, and I have to go the the second page in order to approve all employees for the payroll.

  14. Changing an employee's surname due to marriage, for example, changes their details for historical payslips and all other payroll historical reports. Could a field be added perhaps that allows for 'maiden name' or 'previously known as' without disrupting historical info?

  15. Given that we are now can add employees into different tracking/groups on Xero.
    It works well when we post a pay run and it puts all transactions in Wages expenses, super expenses, PAYG W and super payable, but not Wages Payable. Seems odd that it doesn't.

  16. Amend status of timesheet - I accidentally ran a Pay Run without having approved the timesheet. The status of the timesheet then was Approved, and didn't become 'Processed'. An 'Approved' staus meant I couldn't change the calendar setting s etc for the employee. It becasme a challenge to do what was necessary to get the status to 'Processed'.

  18. Since the latest Payroll update there seems to be no functionality in Xero to change how the name of the Employee Summary report appears when saved. There are too many _ between words, for example: JoeBloggsPtyLtd-PayrollEmployee_Summary 4 June 2024.

    So frustrating. Bring back the old style PDF format.

  19. Allow us to turn off the pop up that shows when posting a pay run. I don't need reminders to pay the employees and file the pay run especially when I do payroll for 20+clients.

  20. I have one employee that is paid the same amount every week, it would be great if I could set the pay run to post and file itself every week until further notice. I have an automatic bank payment set up so this would make it so easy - and more importantly it doesn't rely on me remembering.
