  1. It would be helpful to be able to run the April payroll before the tax year starts. It seems crazy that you have to wait until the new tax year starts to be able to run payroll for April.

Hi Jen, thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback on this idea – it’s exactly the kind of input that helps us improve Xero Payroll.

As of today, we’ve made a change in Xero Payroll so that all UK customers can post pay runs for the new tax year. Your feedback is what drives change in Xero, so we really appreciate you raising this with us.

  2. when using Xero Me in New Zealand to create timesheets, can only the assigned pay rates in the pay template be made available for the employee to choose from or create the self category to show the pay rates the employee has assigned, and team to show remaining like the Australian version of Xero does. Having to manually check employees have selected the correct pay rate on their time sheet every week is time wasted.

Hey all! I'm pleased to announce that we’ve officially rolled out an update to improve the accuracy of your employees' timesheets.

Employees are now restricted to selecting only the pay items that have been added to their Pay Template. This change ensures that timesheet entries remain consistent with their payroll setup.

Please take this opportunity to audit your employees' Pay Templates. If a specific earnings rate or pay item is missing from a template, the employee will be unable to select it when submitting their timesheets.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for providing the feedback.

  5. There has always been a date column - add it back - why mess with something that has been used for so many years. Absolutely so desruptive to our professional services.

Hiya Simona, sorry for not updating you on this sooner.

Shortly after the release of the new report our team made a change based on feedback, so the report now shows Employee name and Date as separate columns, and the columns will be included when running the report by default.

  6. Make the Xero Me App receipt analysis feature (to autofill expense data) available to expense submitter users.

I was pretty surprised to lean today it is currently only available for admin users, despite it being a feature to benefit the expense submission process.

Hi Paul, I think there's been a little bit of confusion here. Only an Expenses user with Admin can enable this feature, however once enabled any user in the organisation that has access to Expenses will be able to make use of the receipt analysis feature. 🙂

  7. It would be great if you could download the Employee-year-to-date preview report after payroll finalisation in Australia.
Currently, this report can only be downloaded as part of the finalisation process not after. After finalising payroll you can only download a CSV file. We missed a transaction when reconciling that was in column BY - we spent hours trying to reconcile a payroll finalisation that could have been easily checked with the Employee year-to-date preview report which is all on one page.

You can now download the STP Year-to-Date Summary report for a specific employee after STP finalisation, Lisa. 😊

    1. From the Payroll menu select 'Single Touch Payroll'
    2. Click the 'Tax year' drop box in the top right > Select the required tax year
    3. Go into the Finalisation tab > Click 'View report'
    4. Select the required employee/s > Click the 'Export' button to download the report
  8. You should be able to edit any payrun that hasn't been 'filed' regardless if it was the last one or not. I enter several unscheduled payruns and I've noticed an error in one but I can't fix it because it wasn't the last payrun posted. The "work-around" Xero recommends is to File it and then re-post a counter fix. This feels redundant and unnessary extra work. Essentially its saying I can post an inverse of the original to cancel it out which isn't a tidy way of doing work.

Hi Jamie, just coming back across your idea here. In Xero Payroll as of right now if you've a posted pay run that you need to make adjustments to, you can revert this to draft and make the required changes.

The only time we wouldn't recommend doing this is if the pay run's been filed with the ATO.

Once it's been filed we'd recommend using unscheduled pay runs to make any changes. This is because reverting a filed pay run to draft will cause issues in the reporting to the ATO.

  9. On the employees interface it would be helpful to have the number of hours booked showing against the holiday. Currently it only has the dates that have been booked. The hours are shown on the employer interface

Crossing back over your idea here, Katie it looks like this is actually possible - When an employee taps on the leave request in their Xero Me app, it'll bring up all the details of their leave including the total hours. 😊

If they're unable to see this, we'd suggest asking them to raise a case with our team of specialists through Xero central who can get a closer inspection to help.

  10. In pay employees, add pay run the column last edited isn't wide enough to show the full description. It would be helpful to be able to read the whole description of when the entry was last edited. It would also be helpful to know who entered and edited the pay entry.
If new staff are in training and have completed the data entry but are nervous to speak up if an error was found/made knowing exactly who entered it would help to educate that staff member no what might have gone wrong.

Looping back across your idea here, Kristy - you can view this from the History at the bottom of the screen. This'll show details of changes made to that pay run with the dates, times, the user and the change that was made, which should help identify and educating staff 🙂
