AU Payroll - Set up multiple auto super authorisers
Having multiple people as a Super Authoriser would be helpful when the 1st person goes on leave.
Hi everyone, a quick update on multi-authorisation for Payday Super.
We recognise that multi-authorisation is a priority for many of you, particularly as Payday Super approaches and businesses review how they manage super payments in Xero.
Our Product team is actively working on an enhanced workflow for this, which is on track for release next quarter.
We’ll share more updates as soon as we have more to confirm.

This is honestly ridiculous that Xero are providing generic responses that give us no confidence that this will be sorted by the weekly super deadline. I work for a family business and if i were to pass away suddenly the owner would not only be grieving his daughter but he would be trying to work out a way to log onto my Xero account in order to transfer the authorisation to another staff member to avoid getting a fine. This is simply not good enough

Hi Xero
can someone please respond as to what you are doing about this? I'm sure you will be addressing it before July 1st.
Getting a bit fed up with all the notifications.
thanks in advance. -

OK, my CS response was:
"I appreciate your request for additional superannuation authorisers in Xero Payroll. I understand how this feature would be beneficial, especially with the upcoming changes to Australian 'payday super' and for businesses with multiple approvers or dual signatory requirements.
Currently, Xero Payroll only allows for a single authoriser for superannuation payments. However, I want to assure you that our product team is aware of this limitation and has noted the request from customers like yourself for multiple authorisers.
The ability to configure multiple approvers. is something our team is considering for future updates to Payroll. We're always looking for ways to improve our product and make it more flexible for businesses of all sizes.
While I can't provide a specific timeline for when this feature might be implemented, please know that your feedback is valuable and helps shape the future of Xero Payroll. I've linked the request from Xero Product Ideas which is our forum for customers to request and support change to the product team below."
which confirms there is currently not even a plan to start implementing this, let alone a timeframe.
We need more squeaky wheels

"Xero response to my support request ..."
I raised a support request just now.
Lets see how many of us get the same cut-and-paste middle finger. -

Xero response to my support request was their standard "we are working on it" but they have confirmed that they are NOT currently looking at adding 2nd authoriser.
"Thanks for getting in touch with Xero today. I appreciate you reaching out about the upcoming Payday Super changes and the need for a second authoriser for superannuation payments in Xero.
While Xero doesn't currently have a feature for a second authoriser for automatic superannuation payments, we're always working to improve our product. However I cannot advise yet if this is currently in the pipeline.
In regards to the upcoming change, Xero is committed to staying up-to-date with all legal requirements, including the Payday Super changes coming in July 2026. We'll be working hard to ensure our system meets all necessary standards well before the deadline.
Our development team is aware of these upcoming changes and will be working on adjusting our processes to accommodate the new requirements. We understand the importance of helping our customers remain compliant and avoid potential penalties.
As we get closer to the implementation date, we'll keep you in the loop about any changes you might need to know about.
We recommend keeping an eye on our product release notes and any communications from Xero regarding payroll updates. Let me know if you have any other questions regarding Xero Payroll."

I will be logging a support request for this weekly and suggest that that may be more effective than comments here. Let's go :)

I think now that if anyone gets penalised we will just onforward the charges to Xero, it will come back to them not making this process happen prior to the new change in July. I ended up in hospital for a month last year and the director was not even able to make any payments to super until I returned. totally unacceptable.

This is a critical change. The penalties for not paying super on time can be large.

I think the only way this week get any attention from Xero is to keep posting here.
Did you hear the rumour behind why the product is called Xero ?
Because that's how much they care about urgent customer requests -

With payday super commencing within the next 6 months, i would hope that multiple users for authorisation is a high priority. Businesses will no longer be afforded much time at all to delay submitting payments. Moving from 28 days after each quarter to now having to be received to fund within 7 days will cause issues for compliance. The speed of transfer to fund must also be reviewed as an area of high importance also... SG Laws are so inflexible for penalities and business should only be held responsible to a certain point. Software needs to be accountable also in this regard.

This is an extremely important matter. We can only have x1 approver and if that person suddenly passes away (as happened to my client with a partnership) then we have had a big issue getting this adjusted. A 2nd person would have made this process easier at a very difficult time for client.

As AU super laws are changing and super contributions will now be required to be paid at the time of wages from the 1/7/2026, i belive this should now be a priority to avoid pentalitys in the case the authroising person is away and not able to access xero at the time wages are paid

Hi Kelly - I think this is greater than just a 2nd person as a super authoriser (I can see the need for this for most companies when someone is on leave) - what would be a more pressing item would be companies that operate on 2 to sign to authorise a payment from the bank - as the current setup allows for a single authority/signatory - which would not comply with company requirements for a lot of businesses. This could be abused and fraudulent activity could occur - I believe it is a very high priority...

Very poor setup only allowing one person to approve automatic super. Does Xero think it's appropriate that we should share approval codes?

We are a new business and need to share all responsibilities for the business. It seems ludicrous that only one of us can be the superannuation authorisation person. We would like to see this addressed as soon as possible.

Hi Xero Team,
I believe this is now critical with the upcoming changes to Payday Super from 01/07/2026.
At present, with only allowing one nominated authoriser to approve and process superannuation payments. This creates operational challenges when that person is on leave, as superannuation cannot be processed until they return. This limitation appears to conflict with Xero’s stated commitment to helping organisations “stay on top of deadlines” and avoid penalties for late superannuation payments.
Could you please advise whether Xero is planning to introduce the ability to have multiple nominated authorisers for superannuation processing to ensure organisations can remain compliant under the new Payday Super obligations?
