Expenses - Add option to prevent approvers from self-approving their own expense claims
I have read the Xero feedback that multiple approval levels in XeroMe expenses is not on the roadmap (disspointing) but I would like to make a case for a specific situation. I have team managers that can approve other expenses, but they should not be able to approve their own expenses.
Can we please have a check box, or option, that if someone is granted approver status, that they should or should not be able to approve their own expenses? Everyone needs a reviewer, but as it stands, if someone is granted approval rights, that individual can approve their own…

Navigation - Ability to customise menus
New Xero ribbon - can it be amended?
Too much! There are things I don't use or need day to day. "Dashboard" became "home". Ok not great, but okay.
The the "+" icon on the ribbon gives me the shortcut to anything.
Xero has just gone and cluttered it up with stuff I don't need day to day. Like "Payroll" and "Reporting". Anyone else agree/disagree? I want to assure you we did a lot of user research and testing of the new navigation to ensure it would suit the needs of majority of businesses.
We'd like to continue to get a sense of the interest from your idea but want to be upfront that this isn't something we have plans of enabling any time in the near future.

Xero Central - Add change logs to Xero Central Support pages
Please include the date that support pages are updated and the version of Xero to which they are applicable.

Multicurrency - Option to not assign Tracking Categories to Bank Revaluation
Currently our monthly bank revaluation FX diff is being automatically coded by Xero to be split between tracking categories rather than simply being "unassigned". However, for our purposes, once USD are banked, they no longer "belong" to that tracking category and instead are general company funds. It is impossible to tell Xero to stop coding revaluation amounts to tracking categories but this doesn't make sense for the accounts, especially when a tracking category finished within the business months ago. Homepage - Have one consolidated homepage for Group of companies
Where you have a group of companies, it would be great if you could have a HomePage which consilidated the position across all Group companies. Forinstance if you had 3 subsidiaries under 1 topco, it would be great to see the cash balances, creditors and debtors of all 4 companies in one place.

Remove permission from a user to delete bank transactions
Remove the ability from certain users to delete bank line transactions.
We need clients to update bank login details etc however we don't want them to have the ability to delete line transactions.

User role - Limit read only access
I am going through a bad divorce and I have to give my ex wife read only access to my company file however i am going against court orders and not giving her access as i know she will take invoices, purchase orders and product sell and buy prices to my competitors once our settlement is complete.
I need xero to create a read only service that does not show invoices, purchase orders, bills, inventory and also removes the report tab. pretty much just allow her to see bank accounts and where money is getting allocated.

Xero’s current roles (including Read only) are intentionally broad, but we know they’re often too ‘all or nothing’. We can’t give a timeline for specific changes to Read only yet, but the direction is definitely toward more configurable roles and tighter control over what view-only users can see.

Notifications - Tag other users in Notes and elsewhere
Anywhere we can add Notes (invoices, transactions, etc.) we should be able to tag other users. I'd like to write a note for my bookkeeper and tag her so she knows to go look at it.
Those tags should then show up as notifications in that users console and/or some sort of "To-do" area.

Organisation settings - Change base currency
It is remarkably convoluted to change the base currency even when no transactions have been posted. It only seems to be possible by cancelling the subscription and starting again. I rely on clients purchasing the software and it is not unknown for them to enter an incorrect base currency. I have used other systems where changing the base currency is very quick and easy. I suggest you make this a little easier.

Online/Offline synching, to enter data when no internet connection.
Offline/Online Syncing Xero Accounting Desktop Program which allows for Backup?
When you dont have internet connection and you need to keep the staff working, obviously the file is not distributed to the cloud, but when the computer gets internet access it Syncs all of its data with the cloud. Xero, when internet connection is lost, you could still use all the same functionality, then once it gets online then it Syncs all the information with the cloud.

If we were to work on a change like this, we'd have to consider the implications this could have if multiple people worked on the same items while they were offline, and how this data would sync when they reconnected to the internet.

Permissions - Give Invoice Only users access to Send/Print for approved invoices
Invoice Only User SHOULD have access to "send and print" feature once the Purchase Order were approved. To address this concern, a user should have an access level of Invoice Only + Purchases, however, changing the permission to this level, the inputs made by other users, which might be confidential and unnecessarily to be seen by others, are compromised. I would like to request to add this feature (send and print) for the Invoice Only users.

Giving Invoice Only users the ability to send or print approved invoices has the potential to simplify your workflow and make day-to-day tasks more efficient.
Enabling this functionality would allow the same users who create and approve invoices to also send or print them, reducing handovers and helping your business operate more smoothly. It’s a great example of how a small change can lead to better team autonomy.
Currently, this action is available to users with Standard, Advisor, or Invoice Only – Approve & Pay roles. Expanding this to other Invoice Only roles, such as Draft, Sales, or Purchases could make Xero even more flexible for teams with clearly defined responsibilities.

User Interface - Add custom tooltips to guide users through complex fields and workflows
I would like to see these across payroll, invoicing, etc. - all of Xero. It would be so helpful if admins could add tooltips to things to provide directions/instructions to staff. For example, a tooltip next to the "label" field in expense claims could tell staff what information this company wants in there to make that useful. Integrating tooltips could be a way to log compliance or chosen procedures/use across the platform. For example, putting a tooltip next to the options to add projects in expenses/invoices would help someone log guidance on when a project needs to be associated. Putting…

Homepage - Add toggle to exclude opening balances from Chart of Accounts Watchlist widget
In the Chart of Account Watchlist we are wanting to track in year categories that have opening balances. We're changing the Chart of Accounts to make this fit but a toggle to include or exclude opening balances would be really handy so you can choose to see only true in year transactions

The idea is to allow users to filter out opening balances from the Watchlist view, making it easier to focus on in-year movements and get a clearer picture of current account performance.

XAA - Log each login when using the App
Amazed to discover that a 'login' from the app on a mobile phone using biometrics for example, does not count as a 'login' at all and is classified by Xero as an 'unlocking' event, but this is not logged or tracked at all (that we users can see). So in effect the 'Login History' in 'Settings' is completely flawed. This is also not recognised in 'History & Notes' unless the user actually makes changes. So if they are just in there viewing stats etc. they are invisible. This is really not ideal.

Organisation settings - Setting to remove data 7+ years old
In NZ we are required by law to keep 7 years of records for the IRD (tax department). I make a point of destroying old financial records that are older than 7 years. Xero doesn't have a mechanism to purge old data. I see in my Xero I full record including invoices, supplier invoices and financial data back to Jan 2014.
I would like to see a system whereby old data was completely wiped, and summary starting figures created for the purged data period, say as at the start of each tax year, for me 1 April 2018 so that…
11 votesAppreciate why you'd like to remove older data from your org after a long period, Steven. Generally we don't want to be touching our customers data, and this isn't something we have plans for implementing. However, we'll get a sense of the interest from others in this here, for our product teams to consider.
Right now, if you'd like to remove older data there are a couple of options;
- You could start a new organisation from the date you'd like to keep records from, setting up the organisation with conversion balances from that date. You could also export and import information from the old org to the new one.
- Change the conversion balances in your existing org and remove older data prior to this date

Xero is currently designed to run through your web browser, alongside our mobile apps, and a full PWA version is not currently on our roadmap. In the meantime, you can create a desktop shortcut using Chrome or Edge to open Xero in its own window, which can help keep your workflow separate from other browser tabs.

Navigation | Reporting and Accounting tabs together
As an accountant I prefer the Reporting and Accounting tabs together, under one tab as it has always been. It would slow me down, if I had to search for accounting tools/reports under different tabs.

Permissions - Remove yourself from organisation with expenses only role
Users who only have access to expenses should still be able to ask to have their permissions removed. It is ridiculous that I have access to a company expenses dashboard that I shouldn't because I don't know the subscriber and can't remove myself.

Ability for advisors to merge live Xero subscriptions with expired free trial accounts where client has created duplicates.
A recurring problem we have is when clients sign up following a free trial but then end up creating a new/duplicate subscription. This may essentially be an issue with the UI that the client sees, but it would be useful to have the option for advisors to merge live Xero subscriptions with expired free trial accounts in these situations - or at least send a request through to Xero to carry out the task.

Statement ageing periods
I've just moved from a different program. Most things are much better, except for customer statements. No ageing periods on the statement. My suggestion - remove the remittance advice and put in an ageing period table.
