Projects - Ability to attach Files to a Project
Ability to attach files to Xero projects.
Purpose: To make users’ able to attach necessary documents for their project such as contracts and quotes.
169 votesHi everyone, we appreciate wanting the ability to assign files to the project itself. While this isn't something we have planned right now we'll keep tracking the interest through the idea here.
To highlight, though not currently available on the Project directly, it's possible to attach files to the individual transactions within a project e.g a Bill, Invoice, Spend money or Expense. i
Along with this, you may also find it useful to create folders within your Files library where you can collect all files related to a specific project for ease of reference.
Understand this isn't the ideal solution, but may help some for now 🙂

Ability to assign bills in bulk to Project.
Purpose: To save time rather than assign the bill one by one.

Tracking - Ability to bulk Archive categories
We use tracking categories of building jobs. It would be great to archive the tracking category once the job it complete. Allowing a P&L by tracking category report to only show active jobs.

Xero Projects - Different staff cost rate per project
We charge our consultants at a different cost rate per customer project and pay them a different cost rate per engagement. This is negotiated with them at the start of the gig and applies only to that Project.
I want to set a different staff rate per project per staff member.

Projects - Bulk upload of time entries for projects

Purpose: To save users’ time from manually entering the time entries and transitioning projects from different software.

Projects - Notes or Description field in Projects
Add notes/description field in Xero Projects.
Purpose: To have a better record of the Projects. E.g. notes about the quotes that users’ sent to their client/customer.
112 votesHi everyone, while our team considered solutions in this space with other pieces of work planned there is no current development planned for adding a notes or description field within Projects at this time.
For now, as you may be aware you can add notes to the History and notes of the individual transactions within a project, or alternatively on the Contacts record.
We're continuing to watch this space and will share if there is any progress.

Xero Projects - Create project from accepted quote
Xero Projects seems a bit backwards to me, you create project then can create or link a quote. It would be far better if you could create a a project from an accepted quote.
ie. Quote customer for job > Customer accepts quote > Mark quote as accepted and create project.111 votes -

Xero Projects - Add separate field for Project Number
Is there a way that within Xero Projects, we could have a field for "Project Number" and a seperate field for "Project Name".
Unfortunately we have found that some duplication of project numbers can happen within Xero as the project name and project number are within the same field.95 votes -

We do want to highlight the ability to bulk recode transactions from one tracking option to another through Find & Recode - while only available to those with the Adviser role this will allow you to accomplish what's being asked here.

Projects - Ability to add a budget that integrates with the overall budget
- Create a budget for each project and then integrate the budgets to the company's overall budget.
- Provide variance report for each project
- Provide variance report for all the projects together

Xero Projects - Custom report builder
Ability to be able to create your own custom project report in Projects. For example being able to create a report using the fields in both the Project Details report and the Project Financials report.
Also the ability to ability to amend the current reports in the format you want and then to save them to customs reports as you can do with other reporting.

Projects - ability to set a project currency
Projects is configured to only allow the reporting currency to be used in setting rates or quotes.

I am needing to import my payroll expenses from another payroll platform in the form of a manual journal. I need those payroll expenses to be tracked by project. It would be handy to be able to have a column for projects instead of a tracking category.

Make projects better
Projects - Make the entire Projects experience better. Today is May 17th 2024, there are currently 300+ ideas, suggestions, and requests here related to Projects, few of which have even been responded to by Xero. It seems clear that Projects is the red-headed step-child of the Xero platform, always the last to the table when the development team starts talking about updates.
For those of us who run project-based businesses, the features requested on these pages are CRITICAL to our ability to understand how our business is doing. I'm calling on Xero to put more energy into building out Projects…

Tracking - Increase tracking options limit
Hi there, we have been using tracking options for our projects and we have now reached the maximum number and reached the limit for it, but we don't want to delete the previous projects<. Just want to know, if we can increase options limit to numbers. Thank you.

Projects - User Options and Permissions
In projects it would be most useful we there were more user permission options. A check box of permissions you could give all staff
1- only have staff see the projects they are assigned to - To give staff privacy on work hours and expenses.
2- give all staff regardless of their permission access to expenses
3- give or withhold what financial information they can and can not see
4- give or limit the options for invoices/quotesBlanket permissions don't work.

Projects Reporting - Include tracking
Projects - ability to use tracking categories when using the project reporting. At present when project data is entered into xero there is no report that can be filtered using tracking categories
