Given Xero's push for 'beautiful accounting' I find it very frustrating that the template report codes can't be re-ordered within their groups in the template reports and always revert to alphabetical at the client level, meaning every single client needs their custom reports formatting unnecessarily. Editing reports at every single client level for what I consider to be pretty basic formatting is really disappointing.

    Hey Gareth, we appreciate you sharing this idea and highlighting the extra time spent manually reordering report codes in clients’ organisations. It’s clear that a better solution would help your practice run more smoothly.

    Right now, the only option is to reorder the codes manually within each client’s report. We know this isn’t the best solution and adds extra steps to your workflow.

    This idea is currently in the Gaining Support stage, so it’s open for votes and comments from the community. The feedback will help us understand how many people this would benefit and how important it is to your practice. We’ll keep you posted here as soon as there’s any news.

  2. We use multiple tax agent numbers across our business yet when we lodge STP reports via the client's organisation, we can only use one tax agent number for all clients as Xero only allows for one tax agent number to be set in Xero HQ.

    This is causing many issues, including staff and clients inadvertently updating tax agent details in the STP lodgment area on their own file, which is then updating the tax agent in HQ for all STP lodgements.

  3. It would be great if we could have the option of a display name as legal name for all entity types and not just individuals to help differentiate different entities with the same name. For example, we have a few trusts that share the same name but are completely separate entities belonging to different client groups and it can make it hard to tell those apart at a glance.

  4. I feel like a dedicated feedback board would be useful. As I don't feel there is currently an appropriate place to give feedback and notify support of things that are not working properly.
    For example, I have the new GST returns to trial and there was an actual feedback box in Xero. Where i gave the feedback that i liked the new features but not the look. Now the feedback box is gone and I have just noticed that it tells you that there are unreconciled lines to code. But, they are for the next GST period. Plus the old…

  5. When creating custom queries, only the system default workpapers are available to add the query to. So when you are processing the workpapers, you need to manually move each query to its relevant workpaper, if you want it on a custom workpaper. Please add custom workpapers to the custom query creation list.

    Alternatively - if queries were rolled forward from one year to the next, custom queries would only need to be moved in the first year.

  6. Often the first question in a section is a yes/no - it would be good to hide the additional questions that result from the first answer, rather than needing to cover all bases with additional requests for the yes or no question. The shorter the initial list, the more likely the client will answer promptly and correctly.

  7. Audit trail to see who has created / amended / deleted custom reports. We had a situation where a report was deleted and unable to identify who had inadvertently done this.

  8. Ability to attach a document to a specific query on the accountant end.
    Would save us from having to go to the workpaper in order to open the document that the query references. Instead could open directly from the query tab.

  9. If we have the functionality of creating multiple tasks then it will be a good idea to have functionality of ticking off multiple tasks also. As this will save in energy and time.

  12. It would be great to have two additional tax return status values, to more efficiently support the typical workflows of busy tax agents.

    1. Waiting on information - return cannot progress until the client provides missing info.

    2. Rejected - return has failed review and requires adjustment before it can be lodged.

  14. Xero Practice Manager integrated nicely with Hubspot for about 10 years. Quitely it's been killed off in 2024 for some reason.

    XPM is a major practice management platform, and Hubspot is a major CRM. I don't know why Xero would kill off the integration. But as a practice we need to have the ability to easily market/email etc to our client database. Without an integration in 2025 this is crazy.

    The development work would be minimal considering it was already working, and even working with the single client record.

    So please turn the integration back on for your partners.

  15. Would it be possible to visibly see the Government Gateway currently set up for HMRC submissions for each individual client? At the moment I believe this isn't available, however it would be helpful to be able to view this information via Practice Manager

  16. It would be really helpful to receive notifications when a client pays their payrun.

    Especially for our large PAYG Withholding clients, where we send them an email of the tax withholding payable. As large PAYG Withholders only have a roughly a week to pay, an email notification would be a timer saver. As we wouldn't need to log in to check that the pay run has been paid.

  17. Practice Admin have the ability to remove themselves if they have been invite into a potential clients org without manage users.

    Potential clients that decide to not go ahead with a Practice but done remove the PA from the org, PA should have the ability to remove themselves.

When moving time to another job in XPM and you start typing the client name that the time is to be transferred to, it appears at the very bottom of the list, So you always have to scroll down the screen to see the job that you want to transfer it to. Could it please appear at the top of the list on the screen?

  19. Sorting Draft Invoices by Job Type

    Every quarter we invoice a large amount of standard disbursement costs these all come from a particular job type.
    It would be great if we could sort by job type so we could bulk approve these invoices. Currently it looks to sort by job number. This means when I 'select all' I have to manually go through and untick the draft invoices that have another job type. I have tried to set a filter to only show text with 'Quarterly' which shows in the job type but this produces no results.

  20. It would be great if there were the ability to run a report of all business structure type Tax returns (AU, CTR, PTR, SMSF, TRT) with who is tax payable and refundable.

    At the moment, we can do this for some business structure types, but not all and when adding in these columns, it immediately removes all clients.
