location of file folder on sales invoices
When the new sales invoice function was released the attached files were moved from the top of the screen to the bottom of the invoice screen. The is incredibly frustrating when you have to scroll to the bottom of the page each time you want to check attachments, especially when you have dozens of line items on the invoice. Can there be flexibility where the files are shown on the screen?

New files beta: re-enable reading email while looking at file
A beta for the files inbox has shown up on one of my clients today, and it's unusable as is (and I can't disable it and go back to a functional workflow). The biggest thing that is not working for me is that I can no longer view a file and the email associated with that file at the same time.
Attached is a screenshot showing what my files inbox for this client looks like. It's full of files which are the images from everyone's signature panels in the email thread. I can't delete the file without going back to…

search direct input into contact
It would be great if the search option would allow you to click an "add new contact" option if the contact you searched for was not found to smoothly link including the name you input into the appropriate field, without having to go out of search and start from scratch.

Contacts - Option to switch currencies
An option to switch between the base currency and the billing currency. This will provide a view of the outstanding amount to be paid in the selected currency.

Add Charity Registration numbers to Contacts
As a national charity supporting member organisations that are charities, it would be really useful if we could add Charity registration numbers to contact information. This is probably going to be more important now that the Charitable Incorporated Organisation has been introduced in the UK. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/charity-types-how-to-choose-a-structure-cc22a#types-of-charity-structure
It would also potentially be useful for businesses that are supplying services to charities as if would provide a way of prompting them to consider whether they should charge a lower rate of VAT where VAT legislation enables them to do so https://www.gov.uk/vat-charities/what-qualifies-for-relief

Stop putting up prices until basic bookkeeping and accountancy functions are introduced.
Xero has once again hiked prices, citing "improvements" which are purely cosmetic at best, and utterly useless in many cases, while totally ignoring the basic features and functions customers have been requesting for years.
Xero is no longer value for money. I only have two clients using it now, and by July this will be down to one as the other migrates to Sage. Hint: Sage allows batch matching of credit notes, saving hours of work. That's not the only benefit. Sage have upped their game on customer service. It's time Xero started listening to its customers rather than letting…

Files - Xero files now contain PDF's of docs uploaded via 3rd party apps such as Dext which is messy and not necessary
Since the latest updates to Files (which I appreciate is building on AI), Xero Files now contains PDF's of all docs uploaded from Dext for example. Some of my clients have thousands of these docs, they're saved against the data entry and they're filling up files for no reason I can see. Might also cause storage issues down the line doubling up these PDFs. Could we get an switch off option?

Split out a file upload made up of multiple bills
Drag and drop or Upload via email - the ability to have one file that is made up of multiple bills be split out by Xero as part of the upload process - like we had similar in Hubdoc.

Contacts AU: populate business details via ABN validation system
When creating a supplier contact and entering the ABN, the system should automatically populate the relevant details via ABN lookup for future improvement.

create contact from bill
If a bill comes in from a new contact, auto-fill contact details from the bill rather than having to type in. Also auto-check and flag if contact details differ once you select a contact.

Xero files - Add an Invoice Number field
When uploading invoices via Xero files, it would be nice to have an invoice number field as well as a reference field. It seems like an important field to miss out as it requires manually adjusting afterwards. I prefer Xero files to Hubdoc as it populates the description fields and automatically splits costings. This would be the cherry on the cake for a great tool in Xero.
1 voteHi Rhys, thanks for sharing this idea. We can see how having an Invoice Number field within Xero Files upload could make it easier to create transactions.
For now, if you're looking for automatic extraction of invoice details, Hubdoc can capture information such as the supplier, invoice number, date, and amount from uploaded documents before publishing them into Xero. We appreciate this doesn't help when you're managing documents directly within Xero Files.

Batch payment directly from supplier page
Why not add the ability to enter a batch payment on the Supplier page?
I hate having to switch or open a new tab just to go to Bill -> Awaiting Payments to enter a batch payment for invoices I have just checked on the Supplier page...

Customer/Vendor Name Edits
I would like to see Customer and Vendor names automatically updated when edited. Right now the names stay what was originally entered. It would save a lot of time if the names updated on old transactions automatically.

Contact Alert
With the increasing requirement to submit sales invoices to the customer portal (eg Coupa) an alert or field on the invoicing screen to remember to submit this way rather than by direct email would be appreciated.

Contacts - Record group changes in history and notes
It would be very helpful if contact group changes were shown in the history - what change was made, when, and by whom. Currently, they leave no trace.

Hubdoc - Separate invoices between VAT periods
If invoices snapped into Hubdoc could automatically be organised and separated into folders depending on their VAT periods
2 votesHi Sneha, thanks for your feedback. We can see how having a way to organise and filter documents by VAT period in Hubdoc could help when managing reporting obligations, particularly where invoices are received after a period has been filed.
At the moment, documents can be organised using existing Hubdoc tools such as tags and filters. However, having a dedicated VAT period view or categorisation option could make it easier to review documents for a specific filing period and reduce the manual effort involved in separating records across reporting cycles.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If this would help your workflow, it would be useful to understand whether you'd prefer automatic VAT period assignment based on document dates, manual period selection, or a combination of both.

Files - Page scrolling at top of page
As the Archive in Files expands, we need the option to scroll through pages easily by using the scroll button. This should be located at the top of the page.

Contacts | Activity - Purchase order "Approved" (change colour of status from green to blue)
Once PO's have been approved, could they be shown in BLUE (rather than green) - so as to distinguish between Bills "Awaiting Payment" (green) and PO's "Approved" (also in green) when in a Supplier.
1 voteAppreciate when viewing this information on a Contacts Activity tab how further differentiation could be useful, Ingrid. We don't have any immediate plans for changing the colour, however it would be good to get a wider sense of interest for this from the community here.
However, to avoid any confusion you also have the transactions type tabs that you can click on to view only activity for that type of transaction.

Xero Files - Ability to tag files
File TAGGING! Can you please please add where we can tag files. Like ok tag to project tag to contractor. Tags! Tag projects to receipts and hires.
If you add "tags" or labels to files and projects that'll make less clicks for everyone! and so much faster. The tags will obviously auto populate into the right project, files, or contractors!2 votesThanks for sharing your idea, Jessasm.
