Managing Multiple Contacts With The Same Name
For some time now, I have been experiencing an issue with contact records in XERO.
As I understand it, XERO will not allow what it considers to be duplicate contacts based on name alone. For example, if I add a customer called Mr Michael Smith, and then a few months later need to add another customer with exactly the same name, XERO will not allow this because that name already exists.
As a workaround, I might create the second contact as Mr M Smith. If I then need to add a third customer with the same name, I might use…

Is there a way to remove the Review feature in files
There is a new feature in files called Review, is there a way to remove it as it is something our company will never use and it gets in the way.

Add Contact Name to History and Notes Report
Add Contact Name to History and Notes Report - we use this report for bank account changes audit purposes. It would be great to have a column with the contact name to assist with this audit process. Currently we need to click into each contact to find the name.

customer reminder emails
The ability to send an outstanding reminder notice to Customers that includes a list of multiple invoice that are outstanding.
Our customers can have upwards of 40 invoices per month, and for a 30 day EOM customer, I would like to be able to send 1 reminder that their account is past due.
I don't want to waist time sending individual invoices, or resend a statement, but more a letter that is clearly different from an invoice and statement that outlines what is overdue and how much is due.Statements are easily ignored if a customer thinks they have already…

Display ABN with the Contact's name on the Contacts list
If the ABN was displayed on the Contacts list screen, or when a contact is selected, it would be easier to check you were in the correct Supplier (or Customer) before inputting a new bill/invoice which may avoid errors.

Contacts - Create alert when entering a bill if a new contact has been created
When entering a invoice create an alert if a new contact is being in created, in case it is an error. It is too easy to make a typo without noticing and Xero will just make a new contact as default even though it's not needed.

For businesses like ours in construction that need to submit a Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) to the ATO, it would be good if the CONTACT card created for that businesses highlighted (or made compulsory) all information required by the ATO at the time of entering the contact details for the first time.
A simple prompt of "does this supplier need to be included on your TPAR report" would be helpful; followed by the ATO's compulsory information requirements - eg. email address, abn, phone numbers etc.2 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Ideas. Allocating bills from suppliers with multiple line items (eg. Bunnings and Bowens) to a Master Job
In MYOB, when a bill is sent from a supplier (eg. Bunnings) to the inbox, when converting this from a draft to an "actual" bill, there is an ability to "code" the entire invoice to one particular job (eg. Job X).
Then you can go into the individual lines and re-allocate them to Job Y (if need be).
This initial "master job allocation" allocation saves times as then each line is allocated against Job X, rather than manually having to enter this information in on each line before approving the draft.1 voteThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Ideas. ABN automatic verification from ABN lookup website
In MYOB, the ABN details are automatically verified with a green tick and automatic verification window . Surely Xero could do something similar? Rather than relying on manual verification which is very lame

Files inbox - Allow attachments to be drag & dropped from New Outlook
Allow email attachments (such as PDF's) to be dragged from an email, and dropped into Files. This feature does not work with New Outlook, only Classic Outlook. As Classic Outlook will be made redundant by Microsoft one day, it's imperative Xero restore this functionality we have always had with New Outlook. This isn't an idea. This is a request to maintain the same level of functionality we have always had

In the meantime taking on board your feedback here they are keen to get further insight of the old to new outlook experience if there are any further details you'd like to share on your experience using Outlook with Xero, here?
While the drag & drop you're after isn't available atm, you should be able to use the Files unique email to still send your attachments from Outlook to your Xero Files inbox.

files
The new files is incredibly fiddly! Previously I had my uploaded files in years and if I hadn't filed them into years yet they remained in the inbox until I dealt with them. Now everything is archived I have no idea what isn't in a folder and what is just sitting in archived. And when I view a document just sitting in archived i have no way of knowing if it is in a folder or what folder it is in.
Am I doing something wrong??

subfolders in
Subfolders - It would be great if there was the ability to create subfolders in Files. For example to enable filing by financial year/month etc. As it is combing through an incredible amount of documents to find something is very time consuming.

Files - Ability to add note to a file in the library
The new layout does not support our workflow. On the contrary, it slows us down and makes the system less transparent. For practices like ours, managing hundreds of clients, clarity and efficiency are essential. The previous dashboard enabled us to see key information at a glance. The new version creates unnecessary friction.
It is crucial that you retain the option to use the previous dashboard version and allow each Xero user to decide which layout best supports their work. There are hundreds of similar requests in community forums asking for this flexibility. In light of this, the current developer stance…

Being upfront, the new homepage will replace the Dashboard experience over the coming weeks, and we cannot maintain both experiences long term.
To help with some of the notes you've raised on your needs;
- You can view draft invoices/bills from the Invoices owed to you/Bills to pay widgets - This now sits beneath the graph
- # of items to reconcile should be visible from each Bank account widget, as well as within the Tasks widget
- Net profit or loss widget will provide a quick gauge of the clients FY

Contact Person - Multiple Email Addresses for Different Purposes
Hello Xero Support,
I would like to suggest an enhancement to the customer contact feature for better management of email addresses. Many customers use different email addresses for specific purposes, such as one for receiving tax invoices and another for account statements. Currently, this creates an issue when using the "Send Statement" feature under the Sales Overview, as it can’t send statements to all customers at once when their default email address is designated for tax invoices only.
It would be helpful to have the option to nominate different email addresses for specific purposes (e.g., "Tax Invoice," "Account Statement," etc.)…

Ability to send xero file receipts directly to new xero forwarding area
The new forwarding area for bills is great, but is only good for those receipts you haven't already got a repeating bill for. I wish though you could send xero file receipts straight to this new area as often the team send in their receipts and it would be easier from there to determine if these can be created automatically or need to be attached to an existing bill.
Would also love the function of saving in Xero files and saying attach to "x" bill in Xero Awaiting bills!

If an archived file is in a folder, show folder name in the "All archived" section
Have a column headed "Filed in" and then the name of the folder if that archived file has been moved into a folder. This would make it easier to know it has been filed.

Copy address for postal address
Ability to copy a contact address for postal.
Often a client has the same address for home and postal. when working with ATO Mate, a contact must have a postal address listed for it to search for the client.

Fix email "overdue" message when sending statements. Bad/wrong information generated by Xero
When sending statements Xero is adding automatic commentary on the associated email about "overdue invoices". In my examples the Xero feature claims that the customer is "Overdue $535" is 100% wrong - customer only owed $39.
I fully understand why this is. There are unallocated cash payments (overpayments) in the mix.
There can be a lot of reasons why this is - invoice queries, partial payments, customer terms, errors being resolved, a customer payment that is not easy to reconcile etc etc. but the point is, that these transactions (overpayments) are totally legitimate as far as Xero is concerned.

Contact History & Notes Add filter and sort to differentiate xero system additions to our own notes
Can we please add some kind of sort or filter option to the History and notes section of a contact. Every time a statement etc is emailed it creates a history line which is absolutely fine, however when you add your own notes to a client (eg we advise them when there is a price increase to their subscription, we make a note on their file) it gets lost in all the history transactions listed of statements sent, so to be able to sort between what a system record created by xero is versus an actual note entry that I…
