  1. Subfolders - It would be great if there was the ability to create subfolders in Files. For example to enable filing by financial year/month etc. As it is combing through an incredible amount of documents to find something is very time consuming.

  2. The new layout does not support our workflow. On the contrary, it slows us down and makes the system less transparent. For practices like ours, managing hundreds of clients, clarity and efficiency are essential. The previous dashboard enabled us to see key information at a glance. The new version creates unnecessary friction.

    It is crucial that you retain the option to use the previous dashboard version and allow each Xero user to decide which layout best supports their work. There are hundreds of similar requests in community forums asking for this flexibility. In light of this, the current developer stance…

    Appreciate you sharing feedback, Erzsebet. However we do ask that each post be contained to a single idea in a feature to help;

    • other members know what they're voting for
    • product teams get a sense of the interest for a particular change
    • us provide updates on any progress for a change

    Being upfront, the new homepage will replace the Dashboard experience over the coming weeks, and we cannot maintain both experiences long term.

    To help with some of the notes you've raised on your needs;

    • You can view draft invoices/bills from the Invoices owed to you/Bills to pay widgets - This now sits beneath the graph
    • # of items to reconcile should be visible from each Bank account widget, as well as within the Tasks widget
    • Net profit or loss widget will provide a quick gauge of the clients FY

  3. Hello Xero Support,

    I would like to suggest an enhancement to the customer contact feature for better management of email addresses. Many customers use different email addresses for specific purposes, such as one for receiving tax invoices and another for account statements. Currently, this creates an issue when using the "Send Statement" feature under the Sales Overview, as it can’t send statements to all customers at once when their default email address is designated for tax invoices only.

    It would be helpful to have the option to nominate different email addresses for specific purposes (e.g., "Tax Invoice," "Account Statement," etc.)…

  4. The new forwarding area for bills is great, but is only good for those receipts you haven't already got a repeating bill for. I wish though you could send xero file receipts straight to this new area as often the team send in their receipts and it would be easier from there to determine if these can be created automatically or need to be attached to an existing bill.

    Would also love the function of saving in Xero files and saying attach to "x" bill in Xero Awaiting bills!

  5. Have a column headed "Filed in" and then the name of the folder if that archived file has been moved into a folder. This would make it easier to know it has been filed.

  6. Ability to copy a contact address for postal.
    Often a client has the same address for home and postal. when working with ATO Mate, a contact must have a postal address listed for it to search for the client.
    It would be good to be able to just copy the home address instead of having to type it in again for postal address.

  7. When sending statements Xero is adding automatic commentary on the associated email about "overdue invoices". In my examples the Xero feature claims that the customer is "Overdue $535" is 100% wrong - customer only owed $39.

    I fully understand why this is. There are unallocated cash payments (overpayments) in the mix.

    There can be a lot of reasons why this is - invoice queries, partial payments, customer terms, errors being resolved, a customer payment that is not easy to reconcile etc etc. but the point is, that these transactions (overpayments) are totally legitimate as far as Xero is concerned.

  8. Can we please add some kind of sort or filter option to the History and notes section of a contact. Every time a statement etc is emailed it creates a history line which is absolutely fine, however when you add your own notes to a client (eg we advise them when there is a price increase to their subscription, we make a note on their file) it gets lost in all the history transactions listed of statements sent, so to be able to sort between what a system record created by xero is versus an actual note entry that I…

Hi Xero Support, we have 2 clients carry exactly the same name (eg. both of the client's full name is ALVIN CHUA), understand that Xero contact name serves as the unique identifier for individual client, we just want to know do we allowed to create 2 different contacts for exactly same name (eg. create twice for ALVIN CHUA) in Xero but identify them as different contact via contact account number (eg: HMC001 and HMC011)? And, for invoice import template, possible that Xero help to change the mandatory contact name to mandatory contact account number instead? Contact account number as unique…

  11. There is this "Add Text" option on the document view in the Files Section. But there does not seem to be any was to save a Text you add on the File. Then what does this menu actually intend to? If you have the option to save the Text, any additional comment could be made on the document.

  13. It doesn't appear to be possible to Remove attached files from a transaction and save it back to Xero Files. I found it to be a useful function. Would it be possible to add it back again? Also it would be really useful to be able to Search on documents in Xero Files.

  15. We have an issue with Bookeo not syncing with Xero when a previous customer uses a different email address for a subsequent booking. We get a sync error message and the payment doesn't show up in the bank feed so cannot be reconciled. Very annoying and needs to be solved.

  16. AU Tax - Display foreign income worksheet on printed return
    Can you please ensure that the Individual Foreign Income Worksheet is generated and included when printing the ITR in PDF, even if the foreign income relates to dividends or interest (and not foreign rental property)?
    This way, the worksheet will be attached to the PDF ITR, allowing the client to review the foreign income details. At present, the main form only displays the converted AUD amount, so including the worksheet will provide transparency around the original foreign figures

  17. Would be great to be able to assign a special rate to a particular client so that rate generates each time you invoice that client and also add tick box to mark as bad debtor which flags them up.

    Hi Denise, thanks for sharing this idea! We can see how a “Bad Debtor” flag could be a really useful tool for managing risk. When your business is busy, you don’t want to accidentally extend credit to a customer who’s already significantly overdue.

    Right now, the absence of an automated alert means staff often have to double-check a customer’s payment history or risk raising an invoice for someone who should be on a stop-credit list.

    As a short-term option, you can use the Contact Notes field. Adding a note to a contact makes it visible when viewing their details, though it doesn’t yet “pop up” during invoicing.

    Regarding your idea on default rates, you can already assign a default discount rate to contact records. You can also use the Untrack Items feature to make data entry faster and reduce manual effort.

  18. We would like an exportable / emailable report to show spends and bills in a period that are missing files / source documents.

    We could / would use this:
    - as a quick weekly review
    - monthly as part of month end
    - as part of GST prep
    - we work for clubs, and we would use this as part of annual pre-audit process for them - so the date range is important - as their year end is 31 Oct.

    Appreciate you sharing your idea in the forums here, Glennis. Sort of 2 pronged for a report as well as a widget I found another idea related to your first suggestion and added your vote for.

  19. Accessing Reconcile is always two clicks away. A dedicated reconcile button on the menubar with option to choose account would be make an improved UI and UX

    Thanks for your feedback on being able to pay invoices and bills directly from the contact page.

    This isn’t something that’s on our current roadmap for invoicing, bills or payments. Right now we’re focused on other improvements in these areas, so there’s no planned work or timeframe we can share for adding a bulk “pay / receive payment” option from the contact view ⭐
