User Restriction for Contact Management
To have the option to grant a user viewing or editing rights to the contacts menu.
I experience that, when working with a large team, duplicate or incorrect entries in the contact field can occur, as all users can create a contact. It will be great if the creation & editing can be restricted.

Bookeo Add option to merge contacts when a different email is used by a previous customer
We have an issue with Bookeo not syncing with Xero when a previous customer uses a different email address for a subsequent booking. We get a sync error message and the payment doesn't show up in the bank feed so cannot be reconciled. Very annoying and needs to be solved.

Contacts - UK bank format updating
Currently we have a format in the UK for
Sort code XX-XX-XX
account number XXXXXXXXHaving an option as to whether the bank falls within the formats of current ones (UK/AU/US) and also include Swift and IBAN which are very common.
We need to be able to have the option to select which format depending on the contact, it would be great if you could add multiple. This would be very useful when dealing with an international company who has EUR, USD and also GBP accounts, we could also select them based on the currency.

Require attachments before bank reconciliation
Feature request: Require bill/receipt attachment before bank reconciliation
I would like the option to enforce a file attachment or receipt requirement before a bank transaction can be reconciled.
Specifically, an optional setting at the organisation or user role level that prevents clicking “OK” on the bank reconciliation screen unless at least one file is attached to the transaction. The setting could be based on transaction value too - only enforced for transactions $50 or higher in value, for tax compliance.
This would be very useful for audit compliance, expense control, and reducing follow-up work chasing missing receipts across different staff…

We need to have supplier reference number /customer account number on the remittance.

Sort contacts numerically through 1,2,3,4
We manage flats, and therefore all of the accounts are the flat numbers. When we sort them by flat number they come out as 1, 10, 100. This would be so much easier if it could be sorted as 1,2,3,4,5 which is what you would expect

AU Tax - Display foreign income worksheet on printed return
Can you please ensure that the Individual Foreign Income Worksheet is generated and included when printing the ITR in PDF, even if the foreign income relates to dividends or interest (and not foreign rental property)?
This way, the worksheet will be attached to the PDF ITR, allowing the client to review the foreign income details. Contact - Add a 'Bad Debtor' status flag with invoicing alerts
Would be great to be able to assign a special rate to a particular client so that rate generates each time you invoice that client and also add tick box to mark as bad debtor which flags them up.
1 voteHi Denise, thanks for sharing this idea! We can see how a “Bad Debtor” flag could be a really useful tool for managing risk. When your business is busy, you don’t want to accidentally extend credit to a customer who’s already significantly overdue.
Right now, the absence of an automated alert means staff often have to double-check a customer’s payment history or risk raising an invoice for someone who should be on a stop-credit list.
As a short-term option, you can use the Contact Notes field. Adding a note to a contact makes it visible when viewing their details, though it doesn’t yet “pop up” during invoicing.
Regarding your idea on default rates, you can already assign a default discount rate to contact records. You can also use the Untrack Items feature to make data entry faster and reduce manual effort.

Supplier/customer
When printing a specific supplier/customer under contact information it would be great if there is a selection option that only shows invoices and payments ONLY and NOT including the payment allocation. This makes it easier to print and send out without confusing them.

Contact total spend/receive money, on contact page or dashboard
Easy way to see total money spend or money received for a contact for a set date range (year to date, this month, custom range). Ideally, be able to track this vs other contacts in the dashboard, eg, highest spending customer, most important suppliers etc. All the data is there but currently requires creating a report or exporting to a spreadsheet which is counterproductive. Really surprised it’s not a feature already to be honest as I was doing this in spreadsheets before migrating into Xero.

Xero Files - Scrolling through documents in Files no longer possible?
With the old display, I could open a document and then click through a full screen view of each. Now its only a half screen view and its too small to read some small EFTPOS receipts! I know I can open the document in a new window, but the next/back buttons are gone and each document needs to be opened. Please reinstate the next/back buttons!!!

XPH | Homepage - Widget for reviewing client transactions without attachments
We would like an exportable / emailable report to show spends and bills in a period that are missing files / source documents.
We could / would use this:
- as a quick weekly review
- monthly as part of month end
- as part of GST prep
- we work for clubs, and we would use this as part of annual pre-audit process for them - so the date range is important - as their year end is 31 Oct.Please make this a permanent feature or quickly accessiable report in Xero. Please also add it as a widget…

Dedicated Reconcile Button
Accessing Reconcile is always two clicks away. A dedicated reconcile button on the menubar with option to choose account would be make an improved UI and UX

Dedicated Back Button
i feel like the interface could benefit from a dedicated back button to always go back to previous screen.

We would be keen to get some more information on the scenarios that you find yourself in where the back button in the interface as compared to the browser would be useful. Contact invoices - Select invoices to be paid on the contact page and not in the Awaiting Payment section of Invoices
I would like to be able to check mark the invoices being paid on the contact page where you look at the open invoices instead of going to a separate page to pay bulk invoices.

This isn’t something that’s on our current roadmap for invoicing, bills or payments. Right now we’re focused on other improvements in these areas, so there’s no planned work or timeframe we can share for adding a bulk “pay / receive payment” option from the contact view ⭐

Inventory - A report for quantity of product items sold per contact or group
I want to be able to run a report of the quantity of a specific item that my contact or a group of contacts sell in a specific time period. not dollar amount, but an actual item or group of items.
1 voteThanks for your suggestion about reporting on the quantity of items sold per contact or contact group over a given period (rather than just the total dollar value). At the moment, Xero doesn’t have a specific report that shows “item quantity by contact or contact group”, and this isn’t on our current roadmap for inventory or reporting. Today, some customers approximate this using the Receivable Invoice Details report or Sales by Item report with filters and external pivots, but we know that’s not as simple as having a dedicated report.
This idea is still open for votes and If this work does move onto the roadmap in future, we’ll post an update on this idea.

Files - Add Expiry/Renewal Date and Automated Reminders
Ability to add an expiration date or renewal date to files (Contract end date, Tax clearance certificates etc.) with reminders on when documents are up for renewal.

The idea of having reminders for upcoming renewals is a practical one, particularly for teams working in compliance-heavy environments. We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support, which means it’s now open for the wider community to add votes and comments. If this would be helpful for your business, feel free to share how you’d use it or any specific scenarios you have in mind — that context helps shape what we look at next.
In the meantime, the current workaround is to track renewal or expiry dates outside of Xero, and archive expired files before uploading the updated versions when they’re ready.

Files - Option to sort files by 'Associated with'
To activate the option to be able to sort files by ASSOCIATED WITH in addition to SIZE and UPLOADED. The enormous amount of files now sitting in Archive must have all three columns active to give us an option to locate our files ASAP.

Contacts - Automatically create contacts based on bank transaction details/payee
For users who do not use Xero to create invoices, automatically create customers and suppliers based on receipts or payments in bank reconciliation.
1 voteHi Gary, just to better understand your idea here. Is it mainly that you'd like to classify a contacts as a customer or supplier based on spend and receive money transactions?
Right now, as you may be aware you can easily create a new contact while reconciling, however the contact will only be classed as a customer or supplier based on the type of transacti9ons that are entered for them.
We have an existing idea around this I could merge your feedback in with?
