  1. I would like to request improvements to the Journal Report to make it more user-friendly for accountants and bookkeepers.
    Currently, reversal journals and their original entries appear together, which makes the report difficult to read and slows down review during month-end and year-end close.
    Please consider adding these enhancements:
    1. Preferred enhancement: Reversal Filters
    Please add filter options to control visibility of reversal-related journals:
    • Show or hide original journals
    • Show or hide reversal journals
    • View only normal (non-reversal) journals
    This would keep the full audit trail intact, but make the report much cleaner and easier to analyze.…

    Hi Wilianti, thanks for taking the time to share this idea. Your notes on reversal filtering and visual indicators help clarify how these enhancements could support your workflow.

    We’ve moved your post into Gaining Support, which opens it up for community votes and comments. It is now up to the community to show their interest, and this gives us a clearer picture of how many users might benefit from changes like these.

  2. The ability to create multiple custom budget reports which show budgets and transactions which can easily be emailed out to colleagues at the same time. This is useful if a Xero user has multiple budget holders to report to. This should be able to be emailed as both PDF and Excel.

  3. Include Invoice numbers for payable payments and receivable payments in reports.

    The information is available for payable invoices and receivable invoices but is missing for the payable payments and receivable payments. Reference information is carried through but not invoice number information.

  4. Ability to enter search criteria for time entries and then make batch edits to the selected entries. Similar to the find and recode function for accounting transactions. Sometime projects change and/or split into multiple projects. Please add the ability to search for time entries by date, employee, project name, task, etc., and returning a list of the time entries that meet that criteria; select the time entries desired and then make bulk edits to the selected items.

    Hi Roger thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We can see how this idea can be helpful for some users. The best way indeed is to describe it as Find and recode for Projects. We've reviewed this idea and moved it to gaining support. Its upto the community now to get behind it. We will continue monitoring it for more traction.

  5. When you lodge BAS using Xero automation, it creates a draft Bill. My idea is that the BAS report the bill is based on, is also uploaded to the draft Bill as an attachment.

  6. I would like to be able to assign the 210 CIS labour account to a service for CIS labour. At the moment, I have a couple of services for CIS labour and some for non CIS labour.
    For the Non CIS labour, I can creat a service called 'labour' and add the account code to it.
    This can't be done with CIS labour at the moment as Xero won't allow it. This means that for each line item of CIS labour in an invoice I have to manually add the 210 CIS account.

  7. Have a Report that shows all Quotes that have been accepted, but not invoiced. That shows any part invoices that have been raised. We frequently invoice a % upfront, % mid project and then % at the end.

  8. It would assist to have discontinued tracking categories no longer showing on drop down menus for reports. We have several categories that are no longer in use but still show up on reporting options.

    Thanks for your idea and sharing in the forums here, Rachel.

    Consideration would need to be given to how this behaves before and after a report date or date range is set, incase running for an older period that would include transaction lines that were categorised to an archived tracking option.

    Being upfront, this isn't something we have any plans around for the time being, but we'll source interest from the community in this here, and share if there are any updates.

  9. It would be extremely useful if we could view VAT on the dashboard of mobile phone app. Director only uses Xero on his phone so can never keep track of what VAT is due.

  11. When using any report, when drilling down into more detail is great BUT there seems no way of then returning to the original report without re-running it after you have finished reading the drilled down info? Or have I missed something.

    Would be good to get an example of a specific report you're drilling into, Lyn. You should be able to click the back button on your browser to return to the previous page / report you're on.

    Alternatively, right click and opening the drill down figure in another tab may also be useful here 🙂

  12. This is minor but annoying. I am working my way through a list of draft assets and when you register each asset Xero reverts to the registered list rather than returning to the draft list. This gets very tedious when you have a lot of draft assets!

    Conversely when you are disposing of assets it reverts to the disposed assets list when it would be more efficient to revert to the registered assets list so I can dispose of the next asset.

    Appreciate the feedback on the little things that would improve your experience when working with Fixed Assets. I've shared this back with our product team. We don't have any immediate plans but we'll track the interest and share if there's any change planned.

  13. Is there a way to create a sql report for trial balance or some other form of report that can be downloaded by excel power query? Eg a website link that could be accessed privately by sending and excel query? It gets very tedious repeatedly downloading trial balances again and again.

  16. Xero offers users the ability to select between cash-based accounting and accrual-based accounting for financial reports. However, a major problem is that the inventory sales reports are based only on accrual-based accounting. This means the financial reports and inventory sales reports are never consistent. Please add the ability to run cash-based accounting reports for inventory sales (sales by item, etc.).

  17. Xero HQ report templates overwrite the order of accounts to alphabetical when accessed at a client. The report templates are in the correct part of the financial statement for the client, but then it defaults to alphabetical order. This requires you to change the order for each client, even though it was done at the HQ level.

  18. Add a more detailed bank transaction report.
    It would be nice to generate a bank report that allows you to see the accounts booked in details. For example, if one transaction has multiple accounts, I can see what accounts where used and what amount. this would make it a lot easier to look over and control if you made some mistakes or did not included bank fees in the transaction.

  19. Reinstate access to NZ Annual Report template for non-partner small business users. The NZ Annual Report template has been available to non-partner users for at least the last six years but has now been removed from the reporting templates available to non-partner users. For small businesses that prepare their own accounts the Annual Report template was very useful and time saving. Making it unavailable only has the effect of making us spend a heap of time re-building it outside of Xero or forcing us to waste money paying an accountant to do something Xero has previously enabled us to easily…

    Appreciate the use you found in the older Annual report pack, Antony. We want to be upfront that we don't have any plans in the near term for developing this same pack in the newer reports. However, right now you'll find you can use the Management report pack, where you'll be able to add reports as you need into this, alternatively you could create your own report pack from scratch(this is available from the Search in the reports centre).

    Understand not everyone feels the need to have an advisor but for others coming across that would like a bit more help with this sort of reports preparation you can find an advisor through the Xero advisor directory.

  20. Can the bill or invoice number be added to the description shown when Xero automatically adds it to the short term cash flow. See picture for item added manually where we add the bill number and then item added by Xero where none is shown. This will really help where we have multiple items for the same customer/supplier for the same amount.
