New Manual Journals - Regionalised date formatting
Hi Xero,
A Number of our NZ based staff have been given early access to the New Manual Journals function. Everything is using American Dates and typing in using NZ (and the rest of the world format) doesn't work.
This is for NZ staff, in NZ, Using NZ Ledgers - Can we get this fixed please.
Also, can we include comma's when there are large numbers in the journal so they are easy to read.
Thanks
Hi everyone, returning to the idea here we'd like to provide another update as we have made a change so now date entry in Manual Journals is driven by your Xero organisation region.
So, for example AU and NZ orgs date format will now be DDMMYYYY.
We appreciate the feedback we received from our customers on this. Thank you for sharing.

Only US dates, seriously? Just when you think these updates can't get any worse, the make a mess of the date entry.

This is relevant to the Australian users as well. I posted a journal 3 times, trying to post at 30/06/2026 and it didn't recognise the date format and reverted to posting at today's date. at first, I thought it was my error and that I forgot to update the date. This increases data entry and error rates.
Being a Xero user for 15 + years, when posting a journal at month-end as an accountant, you are on auto-pilot and automatically type DD/MM/YYYY without a 2nd thought. This should be reviewed ASAP as there are bound to be reporting errors, and these could be significant to an entity.

Hi Xero - unless you're using the new journal format on a 27inch wide screen or larger, the new interface is awful. You cannot see the description or what account code you've selected. Attached is a screen shot of how a manual journal look when I've split my screen. I can't see the narration or the account, but there is so much real estate devoted to tax rate and tax amount in comparison. From a user experience, it's just so painful. Please can you get this fixed asap.

I agree. I'm finding this very tedious as I type my dates in the date box on the journals and because I'm using DD/MM/YY the date keeps defaulting back to today's date.
I also want to be able to right click on 'manual journal entries' top left when I'm in the new manual journal entry screen so I can open the list of manual journals. The only way to get back to the list of manual journal entries from inside a new journal is to click on Accounting/Manual Journals at the top of the page.

There is also an issue with some account codes not appearing when creating the journal. Can see the them in the COA but it doesn't exist when creating the journal. Very annoying as I have to draft the journal and keep refreshing it hoping the account code comes up. Don't recall this being an issue when using the old manual journal function.
