  1. I have successfully managed to create a custom report.

    I now want to add on rows which give me the opening and closing balance each month to get a 12 month cashflow. Is there a way I can do this from the statement of cash flows (using the cash and cash equivalents at beginning and end of period)

    When I try to add rows to my custom report it doesn't seem to offer to add, but only to group item is this something that could be considered.

  2. The existing 'Statement of Cash Flows' could be enhanced to be the bridge between the P&L and the balance sheet.
    1. Term debt and cash are netted to give the movement in cash equivalents. If the statement differentiated between 'term' funding (in our case, reduction of term debt) and the 'cash at bank' balance it would better describe cash flows.

    1. Make repayment of loans a 'financing' activity. Currently it is wrapped in 'cash equivalent'.

    2. The flows in Operating Activities would be more meaningful if it highlighted where to see changes. For example, working capital changes in the period under review…

  3. I am having some difficulty with "Blank Reports". I designed a small divisional report which included only a small percentage of my P&L accounts. I tried to select a date range which is offered but doesn't work - the only date range that works is the current financial year. If you want to look at last month, last quarter etc - no luck.

    When I brought this to the attention of Xero, their response was that feature isn't available - then why is it a report option. Their suggestion was to modify the P&L format which has date options that…

  4. It would be so helpful to have a YTD column in the account transactions report. I run this report monthly for certain sales accounts to give to our marketing department and need the monthly amount and also the year to date amount however this report only allows me to show the period selected. This means I have to run 2 reports, one showing the monthly account transaction total and then one showing the year to date account transaction totals which I then combine in excel. Would also be good if there was a comparison to budget column.

  6. In the Inventory Item Summary report I can customise the report by adding a filter & then searching for a stock item eg a spigot - but there are 100 different types of spigots, & each of them need to be selected individually!!! can we please have a "select all" button???

  7. With the old reports you were able to run the report and then click into one of the GL codes to look at the data. There was then a link "back to P&L / Balance sheet report" which took you back. This is missing in the new report which is very time consuming as it seems you have to start again with running and customising your report.

    HI community, thanks for your support here. While this isn't something we have plans for extending comparatives beyond 36 periods atm, it'd be good to get more detail on the ideal # of comparatives you'd be looking to run the report for, and what this would help your business do - Please do comment to share your views. 

    Other options you'll see you have with the new report, is that you can change the comparative period between Day, Month, Quarter or Year. 

  9. Enable the Payable Invoice Detail report to total the invoices for each contact. At present the report totals the GST component of each contact's invoices, which I find not at all useful. It would be possible to export the report to Excel, and calculate the totals in that format, but this would be time-consuming.

    I use the payable invoice detail report to get approvals for payment. It would be useful for the person doing the approving to see how much each contact's invoices add up to.

    Hi team, returning to the idea here I wanted to check if this is still an issue? With the Payable Invoice Details report you'll find you can 'Group by' Contact and there are options to include Balance, Gross Tax and Net columns within the report so you can get a full break down and totals for each. 

  10. People here in PH are starting to use Xero and I think many more will use it too if you create reports that are required by our Tax Authority such as:

    Sales Journal
    Purchase Journal
    Cash Receipts Journal
    Cash Disbursements Journal

    Most of our clients are asking for this. I really hope you will be able to implement this.

    Hi everyone, just wanting to highlight that as Caroline has suggested, it is likely the Account Transactions reports in Xero could be used to create the reports required. However, this depends on what information you require each report to contain.


    If anyone is able to reply with more specific details on whether any information is unable to be obtained via the account transaction report this will help our product team better understand what's needed.

  11. It would be great if when you use the search field to search for a name/description, if there was an option to 'select all' of the searched items. I often search for a description and then have 10-15 account codes I want to view, but i have to tick them all individually. A select all button would be amazing!
    There is already a select all / deselect all option but only when there is no description searched.

  12. SureIy this would be a no brainer??

    I'd like an option to download PDFs with a password automatically added.

    The password could be added in the company setting pages with the option to download "Protected PDF" when you print a report.

    This feature seems so simple to create and i'm not sure why it hasn't been thought of.

    This would also save us having to do this manually with every report sent to a client.

    Please set this up at it would be a great option for bookkeepers and accountants.

  13. We run a P&L Forecast report each month, with 12 monthly columns across the financial year.
    Start date = start of the financial year.
    Reporting on Month 1, this report shows Actuals for month 1 + Budgets for months 2 to 12, to give forecast total for year.
    Reporting on Month 2, this report shows Actuals for months 1 to 2 + Budgets for months 3 to 12, to give forecast total for year.
    Reporting on Month 11, this report should show Actuals for months 1 to 11 + Budget for month 12, to give forecast total for year.

  14. While the new search function in Reports is excellent, especially as there are so many in the overflow button of each listed report, it is not possible to mark the report shown in the search results as a favourite.

    It would be great if there could be the option to either go to the report directly, or go to the report in the list so it can be marked as a favourite - or better still have the option to mark it as a favourite from within the search results list.

    Thanks for your interaction in Xero Product Ideas, and sharing with us here. Being transparent, we don't have intentions of adding the ability to favourite from the Search menu in Xero.

    We understand wanting to swiftly locate and favourite your reports. Right now, perhaps using Ctrl+F (Control Find) to search the name of the report and quickly navigate to this on any webpage.

  16. In the executive summary report, could there be an option to exclude certain accounts similar to the business snapshot report. For example I would like to exclude the distribution of profit accounts in partnerships as this shows a false profit of $0.

    Also can the variance also be expressed in a $ value in audition to the percentage value.

  18. Currently if you've created a custom report & then select (for eg) the Budget Variance report from the side-bar, all the customisations you've created disappear. We create these customisations for good reason & rarely do we only want to see the one report in that format, so customisation should carry through to the side-bar reports.

    Appreciate it's a few steps to set up and add the columns, however once formatted as you like, if you save as Custom you can then set this as the default so it's a onetime effort. 


    Understand this may be more cumbersome if working with many organisations. Being open this isn't something we have plans for currently. We'll watch the interest in this, here.
