  1. I would like to be able to assign the 210 CIS labour account to a service for CIS labour. At the moment, I have a couple of services for CIS labour and some for non CIS labour.
    For the Non CIS labour, I can creat a service called 'labour' and add the account code to it.
    This can't be done with CIS labour at the moment as Xero won't allow it. This means that for each line item of CIS labour in an invoice I have to manually add the 210 CIS account.

  2. When exporting the profit and loss transactions it would be amazing for one of the columns to show the Contact in isolation rather than merging the contact and description into one field. This would allow much easier spreadsheet analysis by contact.

    Hi everyone, thanks for being a part of the conversation on filtering Profit and Loss reports by contact. We understand how this could make digging into profitability a bit easier.

    There is currently the Income & Expenses by Contact report that’ll show where you’ve incurred expenses or received income or funds for each contact. You could also Group or Filter this report by contact with the ability to drill down to the transactions related to each amount.

    Alternatively, some people in the discussion have also kindly shared their method which may help others.

    Our product team has reviewed this idea, and while this may be a development we consider in the longer term it isn’t roadmapped at this stage. We’ll continue to keep an ear on the ground here and share if there are any updates.

  3. We have 3 Belgian customers who are unable to used Xero as there is no connection with Belgium tax authorities, comparable with the HMRC in the UK for MTD VAT returns. If Xero truly want to be a global accounting solution, with Group structures having multiple geographical entities, they need to provide more global support/interaction to avoid clients moving away to alternative solutions.

  4. Report dates
    On financial reports. Instead of last financial year of this financial year wouldn’t it be better to have the years as the selection ie 2024/25 2023/24 2022/23. it will be much quicker to select the year especially is going back further than the current year.

    Thanks for sharing here, Kerri. Understand why you'd find this helpful and we'll start to get a sense from others that'd like to see this here, too.

    I know it's a little different to what you're directly asking here, but perhaps comparison columns and saving as custom could help where you can run the report for multiple date ranges at once and view the comparison across each?

  5. The print date that now appears at the bottom of reports is useful for some reports and circumstances, and I understand this date is now turned off for Published Reports.

    However we do not 'publish' our financial statements - we send our financial statements to clients in a practical and informative pack instead. This is a more efficient, professional and streamlined approach for us.

    Hi everyone, we've created this idea based on feedback received here.

    With careful design and research around the placement of action buttons, there are no planned changes for moving the the 'File with IR' button.

    However, we'd still like to get a sense of the interest from community in this, here.

  7. Ability to export the GST return with the layout as customised on the screen. For example if columns have been hidden these are not shown in the exported file.

    Hi everyone, this idea has been created from feedback on this initial idea. We understand why you'd like your exported return to appear with the same columns hidden and would like to get a better view of the overall community interest in this from the idea here.

    While we don't have immediate plans, we will keep an eye on this here and share if there are any updates.

  8. Shortcuts for Financial Statement Reports

    It would be extremely helpful to have shortcuts to navigate financial statements.
    E.g. 1 would go to the first page of the report, 2 would go to profit and loss, 3 to balance sheet etc. this would assist with quickly switching between different reports in the financial statements.

    Hi Emile, appreciate you sharing this suggestion for specific shortcuts that would improve efficiency when working in reports. This idea is open for fellow community members to support through voting and comments.

  9. Essential for cash flow and projections, an annual report divided by month that includes source and base currencies.

    The "Account Transactions" report currently enables us to overview all accounts (Balance Sheet and P&L) in both currencies (source and base) but lacks a feature to display 12 months alongside each other.

  10. It seems we can only class expenses within the profit & loss as staff costs or other charges. Ideally the breakdown should match the tax return.

  11. Would love that within money out/in and repeating the transaction that 'quarterly option' was included.
    example: BAS, Super & PAYG

    It would be great if this was an option for those using the short-term cash flow regularly.

  12. It is not possible for CIS returns to be marked as filed when submitted outside of Xero, resulting in historic returns showing as overdue.
    It would be helpful to mark CIS returns as filed when submitted outside of Xero, as is currently possible with VAT returns.

  13. In my custom income statement, I'd like to create a calculation for a debt service coverage ratio. However, I don't there's a way to set a P&I payment as "per month" in the custom features. Is there a feature to set a formula that adjusts my debt service based on the number of months the income statement covers? (E.g. monthly P&I is $5,000 per month. So a 6-month year-to-date statement would adjust P&I to be $30,000 on my printed report).

  14. When comparing the Profit & Loss by projects, it would be very helpful to have an option such as “Hide zero balance projects” after selecting all projects. Currently, when we select all projects (we have more than 100), the report also shows those with zero balances (no transactions). This makes the report slower to display and download, and we have to manually remove those projects afterwards. Would it be possible to add such a feature to improve efficiency and reporting usability?

  15. Reports eg Transaction reports, should be able to be summarised by tracking category. Currently if a bank transaction is spread across a number of tracking categories, the transaction report will report this as 'multiple categories'. This is very unhelpful.

    Appreciate what you're asking here, Simon. However when grouped or summarised by tracking and a bank transaction has multiple lines that are coded to different categories its not possible to show these all on the report.

    On the flip side of this, if you run the report on a Grouped by basis you'll be able to see the transactions related to the multiple categories and can drill into the transaction to view the detail.

    Alternatively, adding a Related account column to the report you'll be able to see the account the transaction is coded to. Then, running the report for the related accounts e.g Sales would give you the line by line breakdown so you can view each tracking option the transaction has been allocated to.

  16. Not a new product idea by any means, just a request to put the GST return back the way it was before the update. So far with the new update, we can no longer see the late claims on a separate tab, we cannot publish the final return in Xero and now we can not be in two different entities at once even if we are incognito mode or in a different web browser.
    When querying Xero about this problem, it was suggested that I post it as a product idea, because they are all known issues but can't do…

  17. Business snapshot - link to default custom Profit & Loss Report

    We use a custom Profit & Loss Report which is default.
    Unfortunately the Business snapshot links to the standard xero Profit & Loss Report not the custom default Profit & Loss report.
    Can the Business snapshot be changed to link to the custom default reports?

  18. Budget Manager - Ability to Archive old budgets that relate to archived tracking categories.
    At present the budgets still appear within budget manager even though linked to an archived tracking category. It would be great that when you archive a tracking category that the budget is archived along with it or just the ability to archive old budgets in budget manager. At present you can only delete so you lose that history.

  19. We would like to automatically transfer daily sales data (excluding GST) from Xero into our custom system. However, the current sales reporting options in Xero do not allow us to select a “Today” filter.

    At present, we have to manually set the date each day to get the daily sales amount, which makes automation difficult and time-consuming.

    Idea / Request:
    Please add a “Today” filter option (similar to existing options like “This Month” or “Last Month”) so that businesses can easily pull daily sales data without manual date entry.

    We've reviewed your idea for an option to have Year-to-Date reports automatically generate columns for each month, which then total to the YTD figure. We can see how this dynamic layout would make monthly analysis much clearer and save time on report setup.
