  1. Quality of Life suggestion:

At present, typing in a report name into the "Find a Report" search-box will only give you a return if you're in the correct tab (eg. searching from the 'Home' tab will not return any 'Custom' or 'Drafts' reports).

I suggest that reports from other tabs be included, at least when searching from the 'Home' tab, with an icon/heading to distinguish the tab-origin of the report.

(I appreciate 'Published' and 'Archived' returns could run into the hundreds, so perhaps a toggle/filter would suffice to omit/include those returns as desired)

Hi Jonathan, thanks for this fantastic 'quality of life' suggestion. We really appreciate you taking the time to detail not just the idea, but also how it could work in practice.

We've reviewed your proposal to enhance the "Find a Report" search box so it returns results from all tabs – like 'Custom' and 'Drafts' – not just the one you're currently viewing. We can see how this would make finding the right report much faster.

Your idea is now open for other members of the community to support and add their thoughts to. Along with votes, others can now comment on how a global search for reports, perhaps with the filters you suggested, would improve their own day-to-day workflow.

  2. Name of user in account transaction list - Would it be possible that the username of the person who edited or created a specific transaction be visible when downloading the account transaction? This is to make it easier to track who updated the information.

  3. VAT In the VAT boxes you have to "adjust" the figure rather than entering the relevant amount. Why can't you just enter the figure and move on. It would be much easier. Also you can't delete what you've done in a box or re-start the entire return. In my view it makes Xero a sub-standard product.

  4. It would be helpful if the short-term cash flow could be integrated with the budget. Since we operate on 30-day end-of-month payment terms, the cash flow is often inaccurate. The sales figures are the primary element we would like reading from the budget.

  6. The ability to remove the nominal accounts from a budget or show only selection of nominal accounts on a budget report. This would be useful so we can send budget owners a reports which shows only the budget lines that they are interested in and keeps actuals and forecasts in other nominal codes confidential.

  7. Please include a "GST Calculation Worksheet" in the Activity Statement report for the new BAS experience based on the same format of the GST Calculation Worksheet which is included with the previous BAS experience.

Appreciate the feedback on the use you found with the previous worksheet.

With the newer BAS while there is no GST calculation worksheet, you can run a Custom Date report to get YTD figures, which can be accessed through the Activity Statement dashboard.

Being open we don't have plans of adding the worksheet to the new BAS report at this stage, however we'll continue to get a sense of interest on this here and share if there's any change.

  8. I have setup a custom report to generate timesheets for different projects as we need to provide these to customers, along with the invoice.

Currently, I have to export and then copy and paste and tweak it, to fit into either a PDF or Excel so I can add our company logo and details.

It would be great if we could add a Header and/or Footer with text and enable the organisation's logo to be displayed when printing to PDF.

Hi team, while this isn't something we have any direct plans around atm we appreciate the feedback here and will continue to track the support this idea receives. I will be sure to let you know if there are any updates to accommodate this styling of reports in Xero.

  9. When a client changes their GST taxable periods (e.g. 2-monthly to 6-monthly filing) they often need to file a return for a non-standard number of months to align with their balance date (e.g. 4-month GST return). It would be nice to be able to change the GST period settings in Xero to allow for the non-standard GST return to be filed directly from Xero.

  10. The ATO has announced a Sharing Economy Reporting Regime Report (SERR) where all Sharing Economy businesses also known as 'EDP operator' (electronic distribution platform) also known as "Intermediary" are required to report twice a year. When will this Report be prioritised by Xero?

  12. Provide the ability to schedule requesting on a daily basis the EFT Reconciliation reports in XPM, currently being a manual request locked behind Business settings permissions.
Provide also the resulting reports in either a Custom Reports area or standard reports so admin staff without the Business Settings permissions can view the ATO EFT reconciliation reports, filtered by date and Tax Agent Number. Possibly add a permission to view these reports as a separate permission.

Thanks for supporting and sharing with us how scheduling of reports could enhance your workflow. While we don't have immediate plans for this feature, we have a pulse on the ideas for this in community here and will be sure to update if there's any change to automate these for you.

  13. Is there a way to create a sql report for trial balance or some other form of report that can be downloaded by excel power query? Eg a website link that could be accessed privately by sending and excel query? It gets very tedious repeatedly downloading trial balances again and again.

Hi Alison, while there's no direct option to group by Planned date in the Aged Payables Detail report atm, if you change Group to None, once run you can click the Planned Date column header within the report to re-order by this field and it'll group all payable invoices by Planned Date.

  15. It would be really useful if you could manually adjust depreciation on an asset by asset basis, where depreciation has been changed outside of the Xero product. This could be where depreciation has been run within the product for management accounts, but been adjusted by another accountant outside of the product when running the year-end. The manual adjustment would be great for aligning the submitted accounts with the accounts in Xero.

Aaah yes I get what you mean, thanks for coming back to clarify for me, Kevin. We'll leave the idea here to gather interest.

While this isn't something we have plans for atm, I'll update if there is any change around this to share.

  17. We need more flexibility in depreciation schedules to add Second Hand Capital Works Assets for rental properties.
When you buy a second hand rental property, the capital allowances available under Div 43 needs to be calculated on the original cost, however, the total amount remaining to be claimed will be less than this original amount. Fixed Assets in Xero does not currently allow for this. We need to calculate the depreciation on a straight line basis based on the original cost, not what we paid for it and we need to be able to include an opening written down value,…

  18. Sometimes small buisnees is exactly that - a small business without the need for a robust accounting software, but with the requirement for annual online tax filing ability. Effective 2024 all Canadian corporations, with very few execptions, are required to file their corporate tax online.

My understanding is Xero offers this option to UK Accountants & Partners only - not to small businesses.

I suggest this option be made available to the small business that make up most of the country's enterprises. The Canadian government has decreed the online filing method is required from 2024. There are many accounitng programs,…

  19. Separate the INCOME TAX EXPENSE from the normal operating expenses in the Profit & Loss Statement. for example:
    - Net Profit Before Tax
    - INCOME TAX EXPENSE
    - Net Profit After Tax
This is the basics of accounting apps.

  20. As a workaround for an issue caused by the obsolete Xero payroll service, Xero support suggested that I use the "edit layout" feature to group 2 accounts in the report. However, Trial Balance does not have an "edit layout" button, so I am stuck displaying 2 accounts that have canceling balances. One of the accounts is the system Accounts Payable account so I am not able to resolve the issue "correctly" with a manual journal entry. Editing the report layout is my only option.
