  1. When reviewing the GST Audit Report we are able to sort by account number, but when printing in PDF it reverts back to date sort order. Can we have an option to print to PDF in account code order.

Hi everyone, as you may have seen in recent communications - We've rolled out a new and improved New Zealand GST experience.

While we've made many changes, we want to be open that transactions will only print in date order. This isn't something we have plans for changing in the near future and we'll move the idea to not planned. If our position of this changes at any point we'll be sure to update you of this here.

  2. Xero's Sales Tax Report doesn't recognize the great state of California's tax year: 7/1-6/30. Xero pull-downs only offer calendar-year options (1/1-12/31). So, we couldn't set up Sales Tax Report for largest state in the US. Please fix this. We can do it ad infinitum manually, but it seems that Xero could fix the problem. (Avalara could inform Xero if other US states also vary from a simple calendar Tax Year reporting.)

Appreciate you sharing your idea and why you'd find an automated date setting for California on the Sales Tax report helpful, Cheryl.

Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

We'll keep an eye on the traction this gets in the community, here. Thanks

  3. I know this is not critical for the reporting accuracy of Xero within, but it would be a great help to those who extract many times a report from Xero and have multiple clients handling. I hope Xero Support can find ways to be consistent in their naming convention by default. And not overriding names thru Report layouts. Thanks!

Appreciate sharing your thoughts on date conventions used across reports in Xero, Danmark. While there's standardisation across the way dates are shown across Xero, there can be slight differences based on region, as well as the period being reflected.

For example all regions excepting US will show date format as Date Month Year, where-as US will be formatted as Month Day, Year.

When Xero reports for a general period like an entire month or year this is abbreviated to the shortest date format that represents that period e.g June 2025 or 2025 respectively, however when running a report for a singular 'as at' date the entire date is shown such as 13 June 2025.

While I appreciate it doesn't mean a change to the formatting that you're requesting here, hopefully this sheds light on where date formatting may differ and gives more assurance that there's a structured approach to how…

  4. I would like to suggest adding the capability to generate Sankey diagrams within Xero. Sankey diagrams are highly effective in visualizing the flow of resources, such as money, energy, or data, through different stages or categories. They could be used to illustrate cash flow, revenue distribution, and expense breakdowns in a more intuitive and engaging way.

By adding Sankey diagrams, Xero could offer users a more dynamic and insightful view of their financial data, helping them better understand how money moves through their business, leading to improved decision-making and reporting.

Interesting idea and good to hear the different visualisations that'd help our customers understand their business, Paul. This isn't something we have immediate plans for but will be good to get a understanding of the interest from the community here.

  5. Quality of Life suggestion:

At present, typing in a report name into the "Find a Report" search-box will only give you a return if you're in the correct tab (eg. searching from the 'Home' tab will not return any 'Custom' or 'Drafts' reports).

I suggest that reports from other tabs be included, at least when searching from the 'Home' tab, with an icon/heading to distinguish the tab-origin of the report.

(I appreciate 'Published' and 'Archived' returns could run into the hundreds, so perhaps a toggle/filter would suffice to omit/include those returns as desired)

Hi Jonathan, thanks for this fantastic 'quality of life' suggestion. We really appreciate you taking the time to detail not just the idea, but also how it could work in practice.

We've reviewed your proposal to enhance the "Find a Report" search box so it returns results from all tabs – like 'Custom' and 'Drafts' – not just the one you're currently viewing. We can see how this would make finding the right report much faster.

Your idea is now open for other members of the community to support and add their thoughts to. Along with votes, others can now comment on how a global search for reports, perhaps with the filters you suggested, would improve their own day-to-day workflow.

  6. Currently all reports can be Exported to PDF, Excel or Googlesheet. Please add an option to export to CSV. This file would not have report headings, just column headings.
When exported data is to be imported into another system it is time wasting to have to remove the heading lines and convert the file to csv.
Seeing that Xero requires all it's import files to be in csv, it's odd that this is not an option for the reporting side of things.

  8. When a custom P&L is created it does not update if there is any change in the chart of accounts. For example, if we move a nominal from the P&L to the BS it will still show in the P&L if the custom report was created before the move. This is a major flaw and when raised with Xero we are told to just re-do the custom reports, some of which take a long time to do.

  12. Sometimes small buisnees is exactly that - a small business without the need for a robust accounting software, but with the requirement for annual online tax filing ability. Effective 2024 all Canadian corporations, with very few execptions, are required to file their corporate tax online.

My understanding is Xero offers this option to UK Accountants & Partners only - not to small businesses.

I suggest this option be made available to the small business that make up most of the country's enterprises. The Canadian government has decreed the online filing method is required from 2024. There are many accounitng programs,…

  13. Separate the INCOME TAX EXPENSE from the normal operating expenses in the Profit & Loss Statement. for example:
    - Net Profit Before Tax
    - INCOME TAX EXPENSE
    - Net Profit After Tax
This is the basics of accounting apps.

  15. Cash Summary Report to include Primary Person Please.

Can you get a cash summary report to provide in order 3 items as per below
Invoice No ... Contact ...Primary person
I cant seem to find a report for all three .
We send 170 invoices out client who pay sometimes do not include invoice number and we have to track by firm name or contact which can vary also on bank receipt information.

    e.g.

I need "Primary person" to help "match" an unidentied payment. so searching for "primary person" identifies the invoice number or the right contact.

  16. Provide the ability to schedule requesting on a daily basis the EFT Reconciliation reports in XPM, currently being a manual request locked behind Business settings permissions.
Provide also the resulting reports in either a Custom Reports area or standard reports so admin staff without the Business Settings permissions can view the ATO EFT reconciliation reports, filtered by date and Tax Agent Number. Possibly add a permission to view these reports as a separate permission.

Thanks for supporting and sharing with us how scheduling of reports could enhance your workflow. While we don't have immediate plans for this feature, we have a pulse on the ideas for this in community here and will be sure to update if there's any change to automate these for you.

  17. Foreign Currency Gains and Losses - remove opening balance from P&L account 498
Revaluation of the open positions is calculated from invoice/bill issued date to the report date and it is correct. Not sure where from opening balance are coming and are impacting the P&L balances.

  18. In most areas of xero you can enter dates in any format, however, in the 'new fixed assets' this errors unless its in the one format Xero accepts.

Please make the date fields similar to the other fields in Xero, allowing any format e.g. 1/1/24, 1.1.24, 1-1-24, 1 1 24, etc

Hi Alison, while there's no direct option to group by Planned date in the Aged Payables Detail report atm, if you change Group to None, once run you can click the Planned Date column header within the report to re-order by this field and it'll group all payable invoices by Planned Date.
