I think additional personalized column would be beneficial, it could be mileage, or how many working hours has been done for to complete the job for internal recording.
You can use quantity column for quantity mileage then use the rate in the next column. Xero is not designed for ABC costing, but some additional ability to cost control would help many companies. And it would postpone the decision to change the accounting system.
