  2. Repeating Invoices - Ability to bulk update repeating invoices.

We provide a subscription service which some of the 470+ customers have been using for years.

At times we make changes to T&Cs, the wording, rates, payment services etc. and it would be extremely times shaving if we could do bulk changes i.e. change the Item, Due Date, Reference, Payment Services etc, without having to go into each repeating invoice individually.

  3. Your new "Make Payment" button and the Action column can not be removed/disabled in the Bills view. It is repetitive, distracting, and disruptive to my normal workflow.

I would appreciate it if Xero did not diminish my user experience as a paying customer in order to promote a new service it is offering.

Appreciate your feedback on this here, everyone. This has been shared with our product team.

They did thoroughly consider how and where this prompt was shown in the product, and I want to be open that we don't have any plans for enabling the ability to hide the Make Payments option from this screen.

  4. This Function is Broken with New Invoicing - It does NOT create a new invoice with the file attached.

Thanks to everyone that contributed and gave feedback to the teams survey that was shared in my last update.

There was a lot of valuable insights that the team are able to take from this as they continue to plan whats next in invoicing.

We understand and appreciate there are different flows for how our customers invoicing, and the timing of adding files can be dependent on these flows also.

Our team are currently reviewing and exploring solutions to enable attachment of files to an invoice prior to the Contact. As soon as I have more news around this I'll be sure to share with you all through the idea here.

  5. The functionality to be able to raise and approve a Purchase Order which, at the point of approval, would create a double entry in the general ledger. Specifically:

    • Debit a Work in Progress (WIP) expenses account (to reflect anticipated expenditure),

    • Credit a creditors account (to reflect the anticipated liability).

This would allow the PO to reflect a commitment in the accounts, enabling better management of Work In Progress and projected costs before the supplier invoice arrives.

In an ideal world, to be able to allocate the PO to a Xero Project, so that WIP and anticipated costs appear…

Hi Tristan, thanks for sharing such a detailed and well-thought-out suggestion. We appreciate you taking the time to explain the specific accounting impact and how this would improve financial visibility.

We've reviewed your idea for having approved Purchase Orders post to the general ledger and integrate with Xero Projects. This suggestion is now ready to gain support and feedback from other community members.

Along with votes, others can now comment on how having this visibility of committed costs could improve their own project management and financial forecasting in Xero. 🙂

  6. It would be great to have a Direct Debit flag on the Bills area. Especially on the ones waiting payment.
That would allow us to know if a bill that is waiting payment is Direct Debit and we don't need to act, just wait to reconcile.
I created a (terrible) mockup and attached it.

  7. Customer statements - will Xero enable the functionality to present payments received by customers as 1 line item? We want to see the total payment amount on the statement - not allocated to each invoice as it is currently.

  8. In the Classic Invoicing, we could set a negative item amount which was useful to make it clear to clients that we had refunded something. It also corrected the stock levels in the inventory. In new Invoicing, you can set a negative financial amount but you are not allowed negative quantities, as such it is not clear and it messes up the stock inventory levels. You can do it via credit notes but this requires more things to be issued to clients etc.

  9. Allow the inclusion of Credit Notes in Batch Payments where the total to be paid to a supplier is still positive. This would allow a single batch for a Supplier to match their Statement, particularly where credit notes are not related to specific Bills.

Hi everyone, we appreciate wanting to hear from us on this idea and apologies for not commenting sooner. I can assure you this has not gone unnoticed and internally there have been reviews and discussions for how batch payments can be improved. We have the appetite, but as with all developments this must be weighed up and considered against many other important changes needed in product.

We want to be upfront that developing the ability to include Credit notes in Batch payments has not been planned at this stage.

As some may have seen, we do have work going on around being able to include Credit Notes as part of the reconciliation process. We understand for many on this idea the timing of including credit notes when you’re creating the batch payments is crucial, however we hope that when delivered at least being able to reconcile these more efficiently…

  10. Add the 'Upload bills' feature as a widget on the Dashboard, for convenience.
At present you have to navigate to 'Bills to pay', then from the 'New bill' dropdown, select 'Upload bills'. It's a great time saving feature, but seems tucked away, and would be great if right from the dashboard I could just drop bills, and invoices, ready to process later.

  11. For businesses that only leverage ACH bank transfers as a form of payment, allow users the ability to remove all credit card logos from the invoice. It's not currently possible to remove the Visa and Mastercard logos from your invoices, when using Stripe as a payment service.

  12. I do not like new invoicing, so I want to KEEP to original invoicing for as long as I possibly can Until End of Feb, without having to manually scroll down to the bottom of the page everytime I log in and manually select original invoicing every time.

Hi everyone, while we appreciate your feedback here. With the retirement of classic invoicing in February, and to help customers get used to the new invoicing experience this default will continue to apply.

As we continue to improve the new experience this means customers may find updates that help their workflow and adopt the new experience.

The option to switch back to classic will be available and we understand this is the experience some customers may choose to use up until the retirement date.

  13. From 1st January 2025 businesses in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices and this function does not exist in the Global edition we use for our German clients.

We need this functionality setting up as a matter of urgency.

Thanks for raising the idea with us. Our team are aware of the mandate of eInvoicing for Germany. While we don't have immediate work planned at this stage our plan is to support any Peppol-enabled region in the long term and we are paying close attention to the interest from users on this idea. We'll be sure to update of any progress surrounding this for you, here.

The mandate currently states "The new legal regulation currently contains no specifications for the electronic transmission of electronic invoices. An email inbox should therefore initially be sufficient to receive an electronic invoice."

Based on this, currently with Xero an eInvoice could be received by using our Email to bills service, or by including the invoice as an attachment and sending to your organisation's Files library. On agreement with your suppliers you could share your bills, or files library email with them so…

  14. When copying an invoice, we need to be able to copy and paste in the item code without it deleting all of the description, qty and cost.
You can do this in classic invoicing, but when you do it in the updated invoicing it removes all the data on the line.

  15. In the Bills section under- New Bill and Upload Bill you cannot currently drag and drop the file from an email into the box. You either have to email or download the file would be time saving if you could just drag and drop straight from email into the new bill box.

  17. Under the old invoicing, when an invoice was emailed to a client for the first time, the email address used for that first invoice automatically populated the Contact card's email address at the time the invoice was sent.
This meant that if the invoice was unpaid, the reminder would be able to go to the same person who received the invoice.
However the new invoicing doesn't automatically populate the Contact's email address.
This means an extra step is needed to ensure the Contact card is updated.
If this step isn't taken, then the automated reminders don't go out.
    Automation is…

Hi Jo, interesting one here as some users would like the contact to be update but also others that wouldn't. It'll be good to get a sense of users that would like to see the contact record updated with the email used when sending from your idea here.

No plans to change this behaviour at present but we'll share if there's any news.

  18. Xero currently lacks the capability to bulk pay multi-currency invoices. This creates a significant bottleneck for our clients with a default currency of USD who process hundreds of invoices in EUR each month. While it is possible to import invoices in EUR in bulk, marking each invoice as paid individually is extremely time-consuming and inefficient. Please consider implementing a feature that allows users to bulk pay invoices in the same foreign currency. This enhancement would streamline the workflow for businesses handling large volumes of international transactions, saving time and reducing manual effort.

  19. When sending a new invoice to a client with multiple contacts, I find the most recent invoice relevant to the current project and copy the email details from the History and Notes entry for the action Invoice Sent.
If there is more than one email address, the old invoicing used to recognise that a comma separated the email addresses. I could paste that into the 'To' box without issue.
BUT IN THE NEW INVOICING, I get an error message when pasting multiple emails into the 'To' box: "One or more email addresses are invalid."
This means that I have to…

Hi everyone, we wanted to return and give you an update here. As mentioned in our last post - we want to be forth right that we don't have any plans to remove 'Powered by Xero' from emails sent from Xero, with intentional purpose and based on findings from interactions we can see having true benefit to customers in getting paid faster.

That said, we appreciate the feedback we've received and have made changes since this was initially raised to reduce the size of the footer where this is shown and have removed the hyperlink to xero.com. We will continue to develop the invoice email to continue to drive improvements for our customers and the ways you receive payments.
