Sales invoice - Option to add a new line between existing lines
Hi Community, we need to have the option to add a new line between the invoice instead to go to the bottom part of the invoice to create it, and then moving it where we need it, many times I need to add a line in a large invoice but to make it, I need to go down to the bottom part, add a blank new line and move it where I need. If we can just make right-click and add a new blank line where we need it, it will be easy to create or amend an invoice.
32 votesThanks for sharing, Jose. While not a complete solve for what you're asking here - atm, once you add a line you can then move this to wherever you'd like it to sit in the invoice.
Just drag & drop from the 6 dots in far left column ij the new invoice experience. 🙂

Account Watchlist - Display a custom budget on accounts watchlist
On the Account Watchlist in the Dashboard, I would like to display a custom budget that I created for 2024 in lieu of the default 'overall budget' that it shows. Please make this feature possible as it will provide a good, quick snapshot on how we're trending to budget w/out having to pull up reports. An alternative would be to tag a custom budget as the 'default' that would appear in the accounts watchlist. Regardless, let's make this happen! Thanks for considering.

Batch Payment - Allow the "Reference" field in bill payments to overwrite the reference field in the batch payments file
Currently when creating a batch payment, the bank payment details fields (Particulars / code / reference) are all drawn from the payee's Xero contact details page.
payment of some bills require an invoice number in the bank payment reference field (rather than just an account number), and this also helps to track which invoices are paid for companies with frequent / varied billing + auditing bank transaction list records.
It would be great if either:
a) For a specific bill, Xero reads the invoice number and places this into the "reference field" within the bill payments screen (usually works) AND…3 votes -
Bank Reconciliation - Rank the best banks for reconciliation
Make the banks (like American Express) see how they need to fix their systems. It's not your fault transactions don't match up. The banks need to improve their data.

GST Audit Report - files icon
GST Audit Report - show if the files icon & no of files (e.g. like Account Transaction list does). This would be helpful when ensuring all GST invoice requirements are met.

Accounts - Ability to lock history from previous financial year backward
Offer option to lock last and previous year's data to prevent unintentional corruption of "good data".
Users would then have to slow down and take a great deal of care if changes to last and previous year's accounts is actually required.3 votesHi everyone, while we do have lock dates that'll allow you to stop changes being made to transactions during a past period. We appreciate there are improvements you'd like to see in lock dates that'd further enhance these for you. We don't have any plans for this change atm but we'll keep a track of the interest here and share if there are any changes planned.

UK VAT - VAT calculations to 3 decimal points.
Xero calculates VAT on a line by line basis and rounds up at every instance. This leads to the VAT amount sometimes being more than a few pennies over the top of what it should be.
I propose that Xero calculates VAT to 3 decimal places, which will mostly eliminate this over payment to the VAT man and overcharging our customers. Or it only calculates VAT at the end of the invoice.

Bank Reconciliation - Filter bank transactions by credit/debit
Searching for transactions:
It would be very helpful to have the option to search for debits or credits only when searching for a specific transaction in the bank feed.8 votes -

Invoices - Add "Yesterday" to date selection
Thank you for the 'Today - tomorrow' options in date selections but we would really benefit, and use regularly, a 'Yesterday' option given we often Invoice customers 'after' they have collected goods etc.
... just a thought

Foreign currency budget report
It would be useful to be able to have a foreign currency budget and then be able to report against the P&L in the same foreign currency.

Xero Analytics Plus | Short term cashflow - Ability to set date range (e.g a year)
Xero Analytics Plus cashflow to show a year not just 90 days.
The current cashflow upgrade from Xero only shows up to 90 day which is weird as in reality you need to forecast for the year. Is this going to be extended to a year like all the other cashflow apps ?47 votes -
Reporting - Bank Reconciliation by Date Report
It would be great to have the ability to run a report to show any bank transactions reconciled on a given date i.e any bank transactions that were reconciled on 7 August 2024, rather than clicking into individual transactions to see the audit trail

Top 5 overdue customers
In the Sales overview screen, we can see the top 5 Customers owing the most. Is it possible to add an option to change this to the top 5 customers who have the highest overdue balance?
2 votesThere's no way to change the order of the customers owing the most to sort by overdue on the Sales Overview, Chris.
The left column will show the total owing and the right column will show the figure overdue.
However, from this screen you can click to Send Statements where you'll be able to view Overdue amounts high to low (if not shown automatically just click the Overdue column header. 😊

Reporting Section under Ideas
Financial reporting is a critical business need of any business using software. Its strange that Xero dont have this as a catagory under Small business ideas. Can we add "Reports" as a catagory. Xero is poor compared to quickbooks now so need to udnerstand if its ever going to change or whether we need to move. I will only be able to gauge this if there are lots or zero user ideas on reporting (perhaps its only me that thinks its "ok but not great"
1 voteThanks for submitting your idea here, Robert. Appreciate where you're coming from. Right now, the structure of product ideas categories is similar to the blue navigation within your Xero org so we typically have reporting ideas under Accounting features. Understand how it mightn't be the most intuitive design atm though and this is something that we're considering making updates to. I'll keep you looped in on any change for this here. 😊

Quote Report - Change Invoice Ref and Date columns to 'Quote'
Reports - Quote Summary pulls incorrect column references. Xero dont accept this is an error and think its a product enhancement.
Currently when you produce a quote report you cannot have a column titled Quote Ref or "Quote date". Xero has a bug which is using "Invoice Ref" and Invoice Date". Obviously for customers of our business they get annoyed that we are sending them reports implying a quote has been accepted and invoiced rather than purely pending. Such a basic error in Xero but they just dont accept the error1 vote -
NZ GST - Export return with heading 'GST return' + period of the return
GST Return Export
It is annoying that the new GST return layout does not export the essential fact that it is a GST return and the period. The new GST return now just exports the business name and the end of period date.
It needs to have the words "GST Return" or similar.

AU Payroll - Fixed amount leave requests for employs on an accrued leave balance
Currently, for monthly employees, Xero does not take into consideration the fact that they have been set up to be paid the same amount each month, therefore the days in the month are meaningless from a pay perspective. Unfortunately, this means that the basis leave accrues on to work out how many hours a public holiday/personal/annual leave day should be when leave is entered is also meaningless. Instead of defaulting to 7.6 (or 8) hours/day leave taken, it does a calculation based on the number of working days in a month. So if someone is being paid on the basis…
