Link Annual Invoice to Monthly Repeating Journal for P&L Allocation
I'm pretty sure many businesses, like us, invoice some or all of their clients on an annual basis for services delivered across that year. In that case, we post the income from those invoices to an 'Income in Advance' account and then set up a monthly repeating journal to allocate 1/12th of that revenue from the 'Income in Advance' account to the correct P&L income account.
This is a slow and cumbersome process that is prone to human error. For instance, when a client leaves, we have to delete their annual repeating invoice and remember to delete their corresponding monthly…

Notifications - Make audible alerts optional
Please make audible alerts to "messages", tips, etc optional.
I wear earphones and work across multiple devices and it is quite irritating to hear "bloop" when working across multiple tabs.We don't need more vapid sounds in our lives!

Semi-Annual Sales Tax Report
The new Sales Tax Report does not allow for a semi-annual tax reporting period. The non-profit youth camp I work for pays a small amount each year, and the state has us on a schedule to pay twice a year. That is not an option that can be selected, as the only options are Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually. Please add the option for a semi-annual reporting period.

I would like to be able to edit an entered transaction, i.e., transfer, payment, etc. When I am reconciling, some transactions are posted on the following month, but they were entered at the end of the prior month this creates a problem when reconciling. All I need to do is edit the date and change it, but I have to remove and redo the transaction. This is extremely time-consuming.
Also, could we change the bank account when we enter the transaction in the wrong registry instead of removing and redoing it?

Purchase Order - Change Contact when copying to Invoice
Have also the change payee option, From copying the Purchase order to Invoice, so the customer from PO will remain in supplier contact lists only.
2 votesHi Janilyn, appreciate it's not an option when going through the copy to process. However, once the invoice is created you can click the 'x' next to the contacts name to remove and type the correct customers name.
If the previous contact has only had purchase transactions entered for them, once you've remove them from the invoice they should not be shown in the customers list in your organisation.

Changing VAT code on paid supplier invoices
It would save a lot of time if it would be possible to edit the VAT code on paid and reconcilled invoices, just like you can change the nominal code. The VAT return is done at the end of each quarter, which means that the majority of invoices and expenses have been paid, by the time you are running your VAT return and double checking that all invoices and expenses have been correctly coded for VAT. Budget Variance Report page orientation
Allow manual selection of portrait or landscape layout for Budget Variance report. You currently need to have 8 or more columns beside the GL Account column for the report to automatically change orientation from portrait to landscape. 7 columns squashed on to portrait layout causes textwrap. It would be great to have the option to manually select portrait or landscape orientation when editing the layout.

New Invoicing - Change tabbing behaviour
Hey Xero, there seems to be a lot of issue and complaints about new invoicing. How about giving us all a break and re-enable the old invoicing till you get thing sorted out.
- Cant stop auto save , there is no undo button if you make a mistake.
- Tabbing between fields is not the same.
- Can't add expenses and leave them un-allocated to a GL, I know that the expense is @ cost price and needs to be completed. -Cant change the Customer with Billable expenses assigned without loosing the billable expenses and have to re-assign them

2 votesAppreciate your feedback, Selwyn. We try to keep each idea separate so it's clear to others in community what they're adding their vote for, we can gauge the interest in a particular feature, and we can keep everyone updated of any development.
In relation to the points you've shared here we have an idea you may like to join around being able to switch off autosave, and another around the auto suggest feature that current fills in the account GL field for you and relates to your second point on leaving this blank.
Our team did make some changes to the flow of tabbing, so this should be more logical however it'd be good to get more detail on what's causing you issues when tabbing in new invoicing atm.
It might help to get a bit more detail about the billable expense scenario you're running into, too. In terms…

Batch Email
When creating invoices there should be a box that when ticked adds the invoice to an email cue. So that at the end of the day you can send the invoices you made and ticked that day to customers. It's really annoying having the invoices separated into several different sections and then having to go and select each individual customer to then send the emails to.

"search address"
When adding a contact, the "search address" works fine most of the time, but can take some time before new addresses are added to the search data base and require manual entry (usually cut and paste from Google Maps.) Could this feature not be linked with an API to the likes of Googles address infrastructure to utilise their rapidly adapting data base?

Bank Reconciliation - Date warning pop-up
When reconciling a bill that was paid on the same day a popup shows saying "The bill was raised after the payment you are reconciling to."
Would be nice if this basic logic was corrected and that message only shows if the bill was indeed raised in the future, not the same day.
Seems like an entry level software bug for a junior to fix.

2 votesHi Anna, when you say overdue amount would this be when sending an invoice to a customer and only showing the amount left to pay? If so, this is already possible with the email the customer receives and you can adjust the body of the invoice email to include the Amount due placeholder.

Oustanding supplier invoices
Being able to access supplier invoices using the link in the email. Currently we can only access the invoice related to the email. When trying to view other outstanding invoices, I get the message that I don't have permission to view that page and to have my access upgraded even though I have full access (bar subscriber). It would be great to be able to, as a bookkeeper, access other outstanding invoices. A lot of clients will use the link, see that they can access the other invoices, and not see an issue.

With the Standard or Advisor user role you should be able to access outstanding bills (supplier invoices) in the organisation.

Bills - Temporary pop up after creating bill and view bill opening in new window
A slight nuisance when creating bills, that seems to have started happening as part of the new invoicing 'updates' as I never had these two issues before.
1) There is a certain bill transaction that I add monthly, usually 10-15 per month. The lines are always the same so for speed I always copy one bill to another and so on. Supplier Payment Receipts: ability to receipt remittances in Xero
Why can’t we simplify the process of submitting and reconciling remittances from suppliers using a "receive money transaction" in Xero? Currently, when we receive a remittance through Hubdoc, we must manually change it to 'receipt' before submitting it. This creates an invoice draft in Xero, which we end up deleting as it serves no purpose, leaving the remittance stuck in Hubdoc. This process is inefficient and doesn’t make sense. Invoices/Quotes - Customise link to view online, rather than showing the full URL
It would be great if you could customise what text is displayed with placeholders on the client end, for example, for the [online quote/invoice link] options, I'd rather they could be displayed simply the other end, instead of the long web link which looks a bit spammy...ie 'please access your quote here' - and it's 'here' that links - as a normal hyperlink would
