AU Payroll - Display name as standard across payslips/timesheets etc.
Currently the display name for payroll items doesn't extend to timesheets. So the employee sees the rate name. Really an employee should only see the display name and the rate name should be for/staff/admin/advisors. I would like to enter the default rate in the rate name as there is also no prompt in the employee file if you choose to use earnings rate to see what the rate is. You need to go back to payroll setting to check which is inefficient.

Quotes / Invoices - Select which lines to copy to a new transaction
When your quote involves different vendors, it would be nice to have the option to create POs with a click of a button for all the vendors but because you can't specify a vendor for each item then at least let us select the line items. Also very important, any additional information that was added to the description during the quote / invoice process should be carried over to the PO.
2 votesThanks for sharing this idea. This partial-copy feature might be used whenever you need to copy a quote or invoice to another transaction, such as another quote or draft invoice.
We've reviewed this idea and now it's up to the wider community to get behind it.

Credit Note - Option to 'Approve and email'
Currently when you create and apply a credit note to a sales invoice, as soon as you hit approve it'll take you back to the invoice, so I then have to click back into the credit note.
I'd like to have a dropdown option to approve & email the credit note to the customer if possible.2 votesHi 👋 your idea is being looked into by our Community team. We'll be in touch soon to update you once your idea has been reviewed.

Xero Login - Authenticate with Face ID on desktop
Hi Xero. I can log into Xero on my phone using facial recognition, but it's not available on my desktop, why is that? Should be easy to do, right? Current MFA whilst necessary is cumbersome, facial ID is simple and safe.
2 votesHi all, this isn't in our immediate plans, but in the meantime, make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit.

Invoicing - Issue warning when unit price is Nil
It would be great to have the ability that Xero gives you a warning when an item line in Invoicing has a $0.00 in the unit price before been approved.
We have had clients that missed completing the price and then the Invoices are sent out.
It would be handy if they got a reminder that this is $0.
Thank you2 votesHey, just a quick update on this. We don't have any immediate plans for this, but we've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Bill Payments | Crezco - buy batches of bill payment fees
The highest Xero subscription allows you to make 10 bill payments through Crezco and then you pay a fee per bill. This is a pain, as I now have to approve each 24p fee.
Please can I buy Crezco payments upfront?2 votesHi everyone, we’ve seen some good chatter around buying Crezco bill payment fees in batches. For those handling a high volume of transactions, being able to buy fees in bulk would make this process quicker and smoother.
At the moment, Xero doesn’t support batch purchases for bill payment fees, but this idea is now in Gaining Support.
If this sounds like something that would help your workflow, please add your vote or share your thoughts. The more feedback we get, the better we can show the product team how important this is.

Reports - Option to specify which months to include when generating YTD monthly reports
Ability to run YTD reports where there is monthly columns totalling to the YTD column which automatically adds additional months as needed.
2 votesHi Bethany, thanks for sharing this suggestion for improving our reports.
We've reviewed your idea for an option to have Year-to-Date reports automatically generate columns for each month, which then total to the YTD figure. We can see how this dynamic layout would make monthly analysis much clearer and save time on report setup.
Your suggestion is now ready to gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share how a report that automatically adds monthly columns as the year progresses would improve their own financial analysis.

Profit & Loss - customise comparison dates
Customise comparison dates
When running a P&L or any other report with comparison data, it would be handy to be able to customise the date range of the comparison data. Some reports have an option of custom date range, but it's greyed out.
2 votesWe understand that customising comparison dates in the Profit & Loss report would give you more control over how you view and analyse business performance, especially when you're working with non-standard reporting periods.
Currently in Xero, if you run the P&L for a custom date range (e.g. 1 Jan 2025 to 27 Jan 2025), you can compare that period with the previous:
- Year – shows 1 Jan 2024 to 27 Jan 2024
- Quarter – shows 1 Oct 2024 to 27 Oct 2024
- Custom – automatically sets the comparison period to the same length (in this case, 27 days) immediately before your selected range, so it would show 5 Dec 2024 to 31 Dec 2024

VAT - Summary Report by box number
VAT summery report by catagory/box like the one in Sage which is a big help when you have resticted VAT on leasing, roundings, Import vat, VAT on legaland insurance claims etc so you can calculate what the full VAT is and agree the difference quickly without having to go through every single transaction

Xero Accounting app - Send remittance advice
Add the ability to send remittance advice from the mobile app.
I find do most of my nightly accounting on the couch in my living room with this app - brilliant - but still have to go into the office just to do the remittance! Annoying.
Couldn’t we just do it from the app please?
2 votesHi, just a quick update on this.
Although the mobile app doesn't have this feature right now, feel free to share this idea with any colleagues that this could also benefit. They can add their votes and comments about how this would help them, too.

Invoices - Prevent sales invoice lines being posted to Overhead or Direct Costs nominal account codes
A number of users mistakenly post lines on their sales invoices to expense nominal codes, for example when recharging their mileage to a customer they credit this to Motor Vehicle Expenses instead of using their correct Sales account code.
Most other accounts/bookkeeping packages prevent this by default by only allowing sales invoices to be posted to sales nominal codes. Xero however allows sales to go to virtually any nominal account of the user's choosing, leading to this error cropping up quite often.
Could we have a way to restrict sales invoices only being posted to sales nominal account codes?
2 votesHi Nick, thanks for sharing your idea on preventing sales invoice lines from being posted to Overhead or Direct Cost codes. We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you.
We've reviewed your suggestion, and it's now ready to gain support from other community members.

Contacts - Additional People Search
it would be nice to pull from a dropdown of existing contacts already in the system to add to Additional People instead of having to type in their first/last name and email all over anew.

Invoicing - Ability to clear suggested email list
DISABLE EMAIL SUGGESTIONS FROM XERO
I WANT TO REMOVE THE ABILITY FOR INVOICES TO BE SENT TO INCORRECT CLIENTS BY INADVERTANTLY SELECTING ONE OF THE (MOSTLY OUTDATED) SUGGESTIONS FROM XERO.
2 votesThank you for sharing your idea, Stuart!
We’ve updated the status to Gaining Support. It’s clear that having the option to manage suggested email addresses would help streamline the invoicing process and reduce the chance of sending invoices to the wrong contact.
If this feature would improve your workflow, we encourage you to add your vote or share your thoughts in the comments. Your feedback helps inform future improvements in Xero.

Dashboard - Show current exchange rates on dashboard
It would be useful to be able to see today's exchange rates on the dashboard - I use information on the dashboard to prepare a weekly report and it's annoying to have to go to another screen to display exchange rates which also form part of my Excel report.
2 votesThanks for sharing this suggestion for the Xero Dashboard. We understand that when you're preparing regular reports, having all the key information in one place can be a real time-saver.
We've reviewed your idea to be able to see today's exchange rates directly on the dashboard. We can see how having this information readily available would streamline your weekly reporting process.
Your idea is now open to gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others who work with multiple currencies can now comment to share how this feature would improve their own workflows.🙂

Contacts - Ability to add an ID type for e-invoicing
Noticed that the BRN can be filled in the "Business Registration Number" data field in Xero Contact, but how about the individual contact with an Identity Card or Passport number?
Even we can fill the IC / passport number in the BRN field, but how to choose the ID type (whether it is IC No., Passport No., BRN, or Army No.)?
2 votesHi Liew, thanks for raising this. We can see how having a dedicated field for e-invoicing IDs on a contact would make things easier, especially when you're managing different ID types and need a quick way to reference them.
At the moment, you can enter specific IDs like the BRN, but there’s no option to add a custom or more general ID type.
This idea’s now in the Gaining Support stage. Your input helps us get a better sense of how useful this would be across the wider Xero community, and feeds into how we prioritise updates. We’ll share more here when there’s progress.

Account transactions report - Option to Group by year
In the Account Transactions report, the Grouping / Summarising box should allow you to group/summarise by Financial Year.
For example so you can look at multiple years in a row, but you still get subheadings/ breaks for each financial year. This would be really helpful when looking at recurring expenses like finance / insurance payments.
Thanks

Manual Journals - Ability to Sort and Filter search results
Currently you are unable to concurrently search and sort results in manual journals, and can only do one or the other. Searching resets the sort to default (newest first), and sorting clears search parameters.
Please consider adding the ability to do both.
2 votesHey Jon, thanks for sharing this idea. Being able to sort and filter manual journals from the Manual Journals screen would make things a lot easier, especially when you're trying to track something down quickly.
We really appreciate you calling out how this could save time and help streamline your workflow. While some sorting/filtering is possible via the Manual Journal screen, we get that it’s not quite the same and adds a few extra steps.
This idea’s now in the Gaining Support stage. Every vote and comment helps us understand how useful this would be for the wider Xero community and gives our product team more insight when planning what’s next.

Tracked inventory - Add opening stock when creating new item
When entering a new stock item, there isn't an opening to enter opening stock.
We need to create the item first then enter the quantities in an adjustment tab.
It makes sense to make adjustments to items already created, but surely we should be able enter an opening stock value when creating an item, this would save us a lot of time.2 votesHi, thanks for sharing this idea about setting the opening stock for a tracked item at the same time you add it.
Now it's up to the community to get behind and support your idea with their votes and comments about how this would help them, too.
As for how this is currently done, as well as setting the item's starting Quantity on Hand, there needs to be an accounting record for where the existing Value comes from.
The current process is to add the item(s) as Tracked and then either:
- Importing the opening balances for your tracked items. *This option is only for when you first start using Tracked Inventory in your organisation*.
- Entering an approving a Supplier Bill to record the first purchase of the item.
- Entering an Adjustment (Increase Quantity-type) to move the value from another account (the adjustment account) to the Inventory Asset Account.

Quotes - Move quotes to an expired status after expiry date
At the moment, the options for quote status are: Draft, Sent, Declined, Accepted, and Invoiced. A sales quote that was sent but it's now past the date on which it expired still shows as Sent. It hasn't been Declined yet, but nor has it been Accepted, so there are quotes which are 4 years old still sitting in the list of valid quotes (see attached extract from the accounts of one of my clients). There needs to be another category for quotes which are old but which the customer may want to revisit (and therefore would be more efficient to…
