Correct me if I'm wrong but this idea was first initiated in 2014 and there has been no progress?
Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but a few developers I have spoken to over the years have all said that if you have a sound database and records are being successfully logged, then producing reports is not difficult.
I don't understand why such a request has never been addressed. We pay a reasonable amount for Xero and regular fee increases so why can't they be a bit more obliging?

what I am looking for (recommended by my accountant) is a report from zero that:
1. Uses Invoices as core data source
2. Columns in the report are calendar months. The top row in each month is the count of invoices. The second row is the sum of "Total" on each invoice.
3. Rows in the report are Tracked and untracked items from "Products and Services" found on Invoices in a given month, and rows on invoices that have no item code must be included with a generic description.
For each Tracked Invoice Line item sum the "Amount" on each invoice, and also sum Qty x Cost Price from the Inventory table.
For Untracked Invoice line item, and those with no Item Code, sum the "Amount" only.4. group by the CoA account Category, within a Category, group by Inventory Item Code.
This will give me a powerful tool to look at sales volume, and material usage over the course of a year, and how goes profitability of tracked material, all in one report.
I am seeking to determine the important business metric of Sales $$ per Order/Job, and what is the profitability of Tracked Inventory Items.
Maybe its possible to get what I want from several reports in Xero, but I would like to see all this in one report, and not have to correlate them, and not have to make a separate spreadsheet either.

Hopefully Xero will start to become a business system and not just an accounting system....then at least we may be able to get basic reports like Sales for the week or month or year. Wow that would be amazing.

What a surprise. No response from Xero.
Can't rush these things... -

I wanted a daily sales report by sales category (where each category is captured in a separate account) and nope, Xero doesn't have it.
After playing around with the reports for a little bit, what eventually did the job for me was to take P&L report by day for the entire month, remove all expense items and then transpose it on Excel.
But seriously, the original post on this is in 2014 and why has Xero still not done it? Daily/weekly sales are such important numbers to monitor especially for the retail industry.

Hi Kelly,
I must be missing something but am just trying to get a basic report that tells me what have been my Sales for the month...ideally it would be nice to compare sales for this month to waht where the sales for the same month in the previous year. This i would have thought would have been a basic report as it is in MYOB. I appreciate that Xero is an Accounting system and not a business system, but getting basic information like Sales ie. what are the total invoices for the month less credits...would be basic. Ihave tried Received Income Summary report as suggested by Support...but of course this is inadequate as it doest include anyone who has paid within the month.
So how do i get a basic Sales report...i'm frieghted to ask my accountany who recommended Xero over MYOB as it would be too embarassing for him.Frustrated Stewart
