Contacts - Show information on one page
The edit contact format has recently been changed and I now have to click through multiple tabs to edit and view contact info. This is much more time consuming. I would like to be able to edit and view all contact info on one page.
Hi all, returning now a few weeks on from our last update, we’re going to move this idea to Delivered! ✅
You'll now find a single page for editing contact details, with the added benefit of using the tab selections on the left panel to go directly to your chosen section on the contacts add/edit page.
Again, thank you for all your comments here - we know this has been a highly anticipated feature for community. Your feedback helps us to continue to shape the future of contacts at Xero.

When adding new clients, I'm really noticing how much extra time this new layout is taking me. It was much more user friendly in one screen.
Please change it back to one page -

The new layout takes so much more time to fill in, was much more user friendly before. Please change it back to all being on one page!

I would like to see this returned to the previous layout. I don't understand the benefit of the new, clunky windows.

Crazy! I use a specialist invoice format which drags the VAT number but I use my own personal reference number for invoice payments. Now it won't let me do this because the VAT number isn't valid. AAAAHHHHHH! No invoices sent for a month now!

Agree! I understand Xero is trying to make everything look prettier and the new interface is indeed looking better, but it also makes the function harder to use. one of the worst changes ever.

Hi all, don't forget to vote when you leave a comment, as I believe the votes are what Xero takes into account. There are 88 comments but only 74 votes.

I totally agree. I am amazed yet again at how an update has been designed without the subscribers/users in mind. This now is very clumsy, frustrating & time consuming. Why put the address on a separate page?
Please can we go back to all contact details on one page. -

Xero developers, PLEASE PLEASE use the previous form to add a new customer, then do the same exercise with your new forms. do a timing check and count the number of mouse clicks.
This has nothing to do with getting familiar with a new form. It is a MAJOR step backwards.

Change it back to the old format.
Now takes at least 3 times longer to add contact.
Xero what were you thinking? -
Deborah Johnston commented
I also vote to change it back.

the one page format was easier and more convenient for adding information and a quick look and check on information.
The one page was working well - why change something that isn't a problem?

There are major issues with the xero system, yet they keep implementing unnecessary changes!!

We should be able to choose if a contact is a customer or a vendor.
I had a customer pop up as a vendor for some reason. I asked support for assistance to remove them as a vendor because they shouldn’t be there and was told it’s impossible. WTAF. 😳
They told me I should add it as a product suggestion. So… here I am.
Surely it can’t be that hard to add two checkboxes so that we can choose if a contact is a customer, vendor, or both.

Can I add also - adding Batch Payment Banking Details in the updated contacts - you can add the 3 banking fields that are limited in NZ to 3 x 12 characters. In the old version of contacts, this was a hard limit of 12 characters per field. However, in this updated version, you keep on typing, and only when you tab to the next field does it inform you that you have exceeded 12 characters (in red).
Well Xero, just limit the input length like it was (which would be super helpful rather than counting the number of digits entered all the time).

Hello, seems I can't update a contact with out getting an error message. Please correct or revert to the old look.

Why would you make this change? The single page was so much faster to administer.
The only potential benefit would be less of a load on your servers when someone goes to edit the page. You no longer have to serve-up all details.
This really needs to be reverted. Maybe the change fits with your design language, but from a UX standpoint it is moving several steps back.
Your dev team should always be asking themselves:
- Are more clicks needed?
- Is this faster? -

As a user of Xero for a few years now, I am finding that there are changes to the website that are adding inconvenience and wasting time. I would like the product team to really think about why they are implementing a change and what affect it will have on the end user experience before doing it. Here are a few examples:
New Contact
+used to be a single webpage where all info was visible.
-now 6 webpages. Impossible to see all info at onceAdding new inventory items to quotes
+used to be a popup that allowed a new item to be added whilst creating the quote
Now:
-open new quote
-add new item opens a new webpage
-adding the item does not allow this item to be added to the new quote
-quote must be saved, closed and reopened before new item can be foundAdding new inventory items to an invoice
+used to be a popup that allowed a new item to be added whilst creating the invoice
now with new invoicing, this can't be done at allThese changes are making Xero a harder product to use. There is no reason to add all these extra stages or remove functionality. Xero used to be a simple product to use, it is becoming worse rather than better.

Agreed. The new changes to contacts have made everything I do with a contact take 2-3x longer.

Agreed, this takes more time
and the address need to be entered manually when you cant find it
So it pops out another window...
Way too extra, please change it back...
