New Invoicing - Keep Classic Invoicing
KEEP THE CLASSIC FORMAT FOR INVOICING

Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

The new version does not suit our needs.
On teh old one, you could have plenty of black lines to organise the line items better,
This one doesn't let you have them, doesn't let me add 10 black lines with one click.When adding items, the old one would have them all loaded automatically. This one is doing a ajax query or something, it makes the erver request when i start typing, which cause delays and layout shifts, causing mis clicks.
The auto save feature is bad for our use case, it results in duplicated invoices.
We don't want autosave.Sometimes, when you prepare invoices in different tabs, the autosave fails and the system bugs, it never lets you save the invoice. I have to copy everything to a new invoice, very time consuming.
When I'm trying to edit an item, sometimes it shifts from 2 lines to 1 line, causing layout shifts, it is very bad.
When trying to approve and invoice, the default button is approve and emails, which is not useful. Approve and then view the invoice screen is better. The previous way to add the payment was fast, less clicks involved.
When you remove a line item, sometime it can take 10 (!) seconds for the total price to refresh. Like you remove a line item, add another, the total will add the new price and not remove the old one. It is so random and so bad, you cant predict when it happens and when totals are calculated correctly, as it will add something but not substract the other.
Only advantage i see, is that items you search display the prices on the search list., but that is really minor.
0/5 stars, please let us use the old invoice ASAP, there was nothing wrong with it.
This system is not only confusing, the layout shifts are eye straining, the bugs are infuriating and all the processes involve time to wait for the products to load more clicks now. We have made embarrassing mistakes with the prices we charges our clients, it is so unproffessional.
We are already looking to change the accounting software.
Xero new invoicing is so bad!Also why is the top item the 'Add new' button?
I am typing the exact thing, obviously the closes match should be first, not the 'add new item' button, i mis click that all the time!
Add New should be last, or only appear when there is no exact matchOn the old invoice, when you click on the Quantity or Price, it automatically selects the whole thing, so you can quickly type to start overwriting.
On the new, some times, it does, sometimes it doesn't. The fact that there is no consistency causes multiple extra clicks and mistakes -

They've not listened to us and I don't think they will do so now, all of our comments have probably been unread and sadly I cannot see Classic coming back which is such a shame because the New Invoicing is a complete mess and like everyone else I absolutely hate it too.
Not sure what we can do now but if anyone finds a way how to contact someone or finds a better system elsewhere, please share details on here.

I hate the new invoicing so much, I have voiced my concerns a few times, the view is too wide, it is clunky, doesn't flow, takes longer. I vote classic invoicing also. I don't mind change if it is for the better this is not

I absolutely hate the new invoicing set up. You cannot set up multiple lines, 5, 10, 15 etc. Timewise it takes longer to invoice as things are not as efficiently placed as they were before i.e. the ability to attach is at the bottom of the invoicing page rather than the top and the ability to approve is up the top and not the bottom as it was before. I vote to bring back classic invoicing as this new version sucks. There was no reason to change since it worked fine before.

I agree with ALL of the comments, the new invoicing is far from an improvement. It is clunky, not user friendly and is costing us time. Please listen to your consumers Xero!

We should not be LOSING good features on the new invoicing that we had on the classic invoicing.
We want the following options:
- Set an expected payment date (in the notes section)
- Ability to remove Autosave
- Add grid lines back to the description line of the invoicing when you are in 'Edit' mode (the lines are missing for some reason)
- Add an 'Email' button (we use it so frequently and having to click on the other options to use this feature is annoying)
- When you are on an invoice that has been created using a now deleted repeating template, make it clear that the template has been deleted. The classic invoicing made this very clear.
- Make the invoice more compact (or give us the option for a compact view)
- Change the 'Approve and Email' button to just 'Approve' OR make another button for just 'Approve'. We regularly don't need to email our invoices as they get printed or sent via other methods so having this as the default is annoying.
- When you are on the invoice and you want to open the Contact's page, make it open on the current page instead of a new tab. If we want to open it as a new tab we can right click (or middle click/scroll wheel click). This opens us too many tabs.There are probably more but these are the things bothering us today now that we've been forced onto the New Invoicing.

I really do NOT like the new version of invoicing and I'm not looking forward to it coming into play permanently. XERO have not listened to their customers and therefore if anyone finds a similar system to how XERO used to be then can you please suggest it on here.

Could you please keep the classic invoicing format? The new version is taking significantly more time to generate a single invoice and is quite difficult to use.
We appreciate the updates, but this change has impacted our efficiency. Please consider our feedback and let us know if there are any options to continue using the classic format.

The new Invoicing format is not user friendly as the classic version is. Xero should be reconsidering the plan to change to new version fully as the formatting, features and processing time for the new Invoicing is not that efficient and user friendly as it supposed to be.

Xero don't care what we have been saying about new invoicing otherwise they would be sorting all the issues and aligning it along the Classic with improvements to it, not completely changing it and extending the deadline till things are sorted. (7 years in the pipeline and this is what we get - absolutely ridiculous) Deadline is now almost here and we won't be able to use Classic and on top of that Financial Year ends coming up it is going to be a nightmare for a lot of people.
Maybe they've hired DOGE IT developers who have no idea how accounts are done by us daily users as to what we all need and they just do what they want. Seems even the higher ups don't care about what their users are saying.
I reckon their 70% includes users who have tried it but then reverted back to Classic. Would be too much of an admittance to the failure of New invoicing if they told us how many were still using classic at switch over as I bet it would be much more than 70%. Maybe that 70% includes any new subscribers who haven't had to deal with all the issues that us long time users have.
They are no longer so user friendly and are overpriced for what we are getting even at the lower subscription bands compared to some other packages. -

The new invoicing is painful. I keep switching to old invoicing as the new invoice platform is so so so slow and often when I want to go from 'draft' to 'approve' I get an error saying one of the lines does not exist so I have to refresh and press approve again. I do like the features but It has so many flaws....

The new invoicing system is much harder to use compared to the previous format, which was far more user-friendly. We are very disappointed with the recent changes, and it’s starting to make Xero less appealing as the software we want to continue using.
Can you please keep the old invoking format as an option as this is what we want.

No one wants it
And your pricing is becoming ridiculous
I'll be finding another service as soon as I can as Xero doesn't listen to it's customers.

Just keep classic invoicing, it worked. I now have multiple tabs open to send a receipt, does my head in. Tried a few times to use the new version but switch back.

New layout is still lacking majorly. Still oversized and scrolling around, still cannot use the tab plus type over features available in the old screens (i.e payments area and other edits). Still requires clicks and additional work to add payments. New invoicing is not better than the old invoicing. I am still failing to see why we are being pushed into a new product that is subpar.
How can you say that the new layout is better when we still cant even get everything on one screen when the old does it just fine?

Just had a call from Xero, after adding comments to the case I had raised about this. She is raising a complaint for me, around the new invoicing issues, including autosave not being an option yet. Not sure this will have any impact, but it might be worth everyone raising individual cases & asking them to raise a complaint. Maybe if they get hundreds of complaints they will start to get the message about not releasing something that's inferior to what it's replacing!
