  1. Purpose: to be able to move payroll from one Xero company to another quickly and without errors.

When exporting employee details from payroll in order to bulk upload them onto another company's payroll, it is not possible to do a bulk export. You have to instead individually download each employee. This is fine if there are only 10-20 employees, but any bigger and you are opening yourself up to missing employees and making mistakes. Any other exports currently available do not give all the information needed to then import directly into a new payroll.

Perhaps the main frustration, however, is…

  2. It would be great to be able to edit text on a payslip. For example, one of my clients would like to hide the percentage of leave loading on their employees' payslip. Currently the payslip would read "Annual Leave - Leave Loading (17.5%, exempt from SGC)" for each time leave is taken, and they would like to hide the "(17.5%, exempt from SGC)" part.

  3. If a pay increase is implemented across the board then currently, the only way to amend employees salary amount is to enter each record manually. If you have a large number of employees this is extremely time consuming.

If a salary scale was used and assigned to employee records, it could be uplifted by a percentage and all records would automatically update.

  4. Would like the option to enable auto leave loading to other leave types other than Annual Leave

Currently leave loading is only enabled for Annual Leave. We have casual workers who are accruing RDO (Roster Days Off) per EBA and Award. Every time they take RDO, we have to manually add 25% casual loading on top.

I did think about just embed the 25% into normal rate but that will ruin the overtime calculation. I.e. for double time penalty rate, casuals get x2.25 but if I embed casual loading in normal cost it would be x2.5 (1.25x2).

    I understand that…

  5. Turn off rounding in payroll deductions and superannuation in Pay Template. Is it possible to turn off rounding for payroll deductions in pay templates, as we have defined benefit member salary sacrifice percentage rates that are more than two decimals and Xero automatically rounds down or up which creates the designated ATO rate lower or higher than specified. Also payroll deduction amounts for Novated Leasing for pre and post tax amounts are rounding down or up to an amount which then we will have to create a journal later to fix the incorrect amount being direct debited from our bank…

  6. P11 PAYE & P11 NIC annual reports, need to have an option to export as Excel, instead of auto downloading as a webpage.
My auditor requested these in Excel format and there was not an option for this, it would make it much easier if these type of reports could have download options, so you could export to excel.
This will also allow usage for tracking and internal auditing.
Yes, you could copy all and paste into excel, but this isn't always reliable as sometimes it will paste it all in to one cell, (which is a pain to fix)…

Hey Sam, thanks for sharing this idea.

As you’ve found, it’s not possible to export the P11 reports in excel format. Totally understand that copying and pasting details from the .html file is a time-consuming process!

Just curious if there’s specific information required in the P11 reports that’s unavailable in our other reports?

You can find much of the same information in the ‘Gross to Net’ and ‘Payroll Activity Detail / Summary’ reports, and they do support saving as an excel file.

Let me know if that solves this one for you, and we’ll switch this one to delivered 😊

  7. Lot of employee are working overtime. Holiday should be paid adding the Holiday Pay Adjustment. This means that overtime, certain allowances and commission plans will be included in the first 20 days of leave taken in any holiday year. To put this simply, you should be no worse off financially by taking your holiday. So if you earn commissions, claim certain allowances or work overtime these will now be considered as part of your holiday pay adjustment payment. Every employer must calculate this manually, and errors may occur during the process. It would be fantastic if a formula could be…

  8. Need the option to customise the tax years for the entities who don't have March 20XX balance date e.g. December balance date in financial settings.

This still shows the annual certificate as at 31st March.

  9. Due to the ATO now requiring employees to keep a record of the hours they work from home in order to claim a percentage of things like internet and electricity bills on their tax return, would it be possible to add this as a Pay Item for employee payslips so it can be easily referenced and submitted for tax purposes.

Hey Nicole, thanks for sharing your idea!

Understand how it'd be useful for employee's to have this information available at tax time.

Just to clarify, it's already possible in Xero to create a custom pay item.

If you need to distinguish between WFH and office hours, you can create a custom pay item for "work from home".
