Timesheets - aside from just having an employee enter hours worked against each, it would be good to have a customizable timesheet that other fields could be recorded against the day that are not hours driven. For example - for one day have the employee enter 5hrs of time worked but also another field for a quantity driver - eg; enter quantity of 3. We have one client with a large number of employees that are remunerated via an hourly rate plus a quantity driver. The current workaround is the employee to submit the timesheet but also send a…

  5. Payroll>Employees>Leave currently has leave balances in days and dollar values, this makes it difficult to determine what the amount should be either way.
    As the dollar amount may change due to pay rises or an average applied as per statutory legislation, it would be better if all fields were hours based values. This would make it consistent and easier as a consumer to use.
    As a user, I should not have to be trying to calculate what the values should be and if something doesn't appear to be right, I should not need to contact Xero to find…

    Hi team, we've recently released changes in Xero Payroll. As you may have seen you can now set up working patterns for employees to more accurately calculate employees wages and leave. While Holiday pay remains in dollars, Annual Leave will show in weeks and FBAPS Leave will now be shown in days.

    Just to note, Holiday Pay is not a one to one correlation to Annual Leave, however if you prefer to have leave in hours you could consider enabling leave in advance. You can see our article here for more information on managing employees leave.

  6. It would be useful to be able to deselect employees form completing time sheets and therefore not appear on the time sheet screen. We have admin staff that don't complete time sheets but I still have to submit nil time sheets to ensure all are up-to-date

  7. I think it would be great to have a submit for approval option in timesheets on the web version just like you can with invoices and bills. I am a third party bookkeeper and therefore Xero Me isn't really an option because, I am not an employee so I can't really use Xero me and if a timesheet is submitted by an employee, it has to be sent to me for approval for editing to ensure it comes through to payroll correctly for processing as an approved timesheet cannot be edited in payroll. Not all staff are tech savvy…

    Hey all, 👋  thanks for your support on this idea and sorry for the late update. I’m popping in to switch it across to delivered for our AU users!
    Just before the end of the year, we rolled out the option for employees to archive their rejected leave requests in Xero Me web.

  11. It would be great if Xero could implement an automatic change/suggestion to change to category A after an H-category employee doesn't meet the criteria anymore.
    One of our employees just had his birthday and I noticed the category doesn't automatically update and there's no flag to say they might now be ineligible for a certain code.
    I imagine there are more companies with the same problem where it's gone unnoticed that the National Insurance Category hasn't automatically updated as nearly everything else does and it's easy to miss a birthday!

    Hi community, we've rolled out a change to Xero Payroll (UK), and now Xero will automatically apply the new NI category to a pay run based on an employees birthdate, and if they are entering into a new NI category. Meaning you no longer have to manually track and updates these.

  13. When an employee has set amounts to be paid to multiple bank accounts, if there are insufficient funds to pay the amounts Xero allocates to the lowest amount not the order of the bank accounts. This means that payments like rent can be short paid. It would be good to have a flag notifying you of this and an easier way to reorganise the payments.

Add a box to payroll for an employee's preferred name, for those who don't use their legal name as their everyday contact, it doesn't need to link to ATO, so no major coding, just be there for reference when contacting the employee. I have several clients with staff that use their middle name or a different version of their first name, that they prefer when being addressed, and it being there in payroll would simplify things.

  15. I think it would be really helpful to put a search bar for employees in a pay run. It's really time consuming to scroll down list of employees especially if you have lots of them. It's under employee dropdown. Thanks!

  17. Please add an opening balance for the Working Holiday Maker tax rate

    When a Working Holiday Maker (WHM) reaches the earning threshold of $45000 they must be taxed 32.5% (instead of 15% prior to $45K per financial year). When an employee is set up in Xero as a WHM this tax calculation is automatic as along as the full $45K was earned with the current employer. If the employee has earned $45K prior to starting with a new employer Xero will calculate the WHM tax as 15% instead of 32.5% and there is no option to set an opening balance.…

  18. Xero Me - Needs spot in App to input the Earnings Rate and Tracking Category for the employee. Needs a start/stop button for clocking in/out so that when the employee starts the day they simply press start and the app records the time started. When they press stop it records the stop time until the start time is pressed again. This can be used for breaks and for start and finish of the day - these can be edited if someone forgets.     Hi community, though we appreciate the interest and would like to continue seeking feedback on being ale to clock in and out times on timesheets, to share an update from us here - this isn't something we have planned in the short term.

  19. In Xero Payroll, it would greatly improve efficiency if the "Save & Next" button appeared at the top of the employee pay details screen, not just at the bottom.

    For businesses with detailed pay setups (multiple earnings lines, deductions, reimbursements, etc.), scrolling to the bottom of every employee’s pay screen just to click "Save & Next" is time consuming and disruptive to workflow.

    Adding this button to the top would:

    • Streamline navigation during pay runs

    • Reduce unnecessary scrolling

    • Improve accessibility for users reviewing multiple employee pays in one session

  20. When a client fails to pay Superannuation Guarantee levy on time the employer should lodge a Super Guarantee charge form. Is it possible to develop a form where the affected employees can be printed & exported to excel to enable a simple "cut & paste"? If the ATO have started an investigation this can save many hours of work especially if the period covered is several years.
