AU Payroll - Ability to hide Payroll accounts from employees with Standard user permissions
It was bought to my attention after using xero for over 2 years that depending on how you pay your staff using multipayment or individually that when you reconcile if your staff have access to contacts then they will see the payments made.
This is a concern for me that they can see the amounts whether your reconcile as a bulk amount and allocate to them or a generic contact - if you use the cash coding area then xero creates a dummy payee called unknown which again can be seen by your staff with standard access.
They can also…

UK Payroll - Generate a report with employees names and NINO
UK HMRC often carry out routine checks on compliance with PAYE and National Minimum Wage. In one NMW check we have been asked to provide them with a list of the names and NINOs of all staff employed by us between two specified dates. To make it easy they dont use tax years but calendar dates
We need a standard payroll report that allows us to export a list with the employees name and NINO. The only way to create this at the moment is by a manual trawl
3 votesThanks for your interest and feedback on this idea, everyone
Currently you can generate a Pension Contribution Report which includes the employees name and NINO 🙂 When creating the report - under Columns select the fields you'd like to include in the report as well as the date range. Once created, you can export it in PDF, Excel or Google Sheets.

AU Payroll - Edit text on payslips
It would be great to be able to edit text on a payslip. For example, one of my clients would like to hide the percentage of leave loading on their employees' payslip. Currently the payslip would read "Annual Leave - Leave Loading (17.5%, exempt from SGC)" for each time leave is taken, and they would like to hide the "(17.5%, exempt from SGC)" part.

AU Payroll - Show employee's last pay period figures in current draft pay run
Ability to show or report the variances/differences between the draft payrun and the prior period payrun.
This would save a huge amount of time going through each payslip to ensure the usual pay is being processed and nothing has been accidentally added or missed.
Especially when you have a large number of employees.3 votesHi team, while it's not possible to view the previous pay periods figures for comparison in the current pay period, you could open the previous pay period overview in a separate browser window. Meaning you can compare the two pay runs without having to go back and forth between them.

AU Payroll - Add or edit breaks in timesheets
There is no functionality to retroactively add or edit break times into an employees submitted timesheet. It would be good to be able to edit or add a break time on the timesheet if they forget before approving it.

NZ Payroll - Annual earnings certificate for contractors
Currently we have employees and contractors paid fortnightly through payroll. When printing annual earnings certificates the cert list contractors as employees rather than contractors and scores xero's for kiwisaver deductions and other taxes etc.
We need to be able to print different annual earnings certs that reflect info for employees, and reflect info for contractors with different titles on cert as contractor, not employee.

AU Payroll - Copying previous wages across to current week shortcut
It would be great if there was an option (tick the box) to copy last week's wages for the current week for payroll. I have casual staff who sometimes have the same hours as the previous week's so not having to replicate this would be great and the quickest way would be to have a tick the box which can copy it across to the current payroll

AU Payroll - Filter Leave Balance report by employment status
Has support considered the option to filter the leave balance report by employment status? When generating this report all employees are listed or only an individual employee. Why would we need the current balance of leave for terminated employees? I have some employees who have returned, so both are listed but I don't know which is active until I run the report on each.

NZ Payroll: 'Opted out' flag for Kiwi Saver
For NZ Users, when an employee has opted out of Kiwi Saver (which is confirmed by the tax dept) change the Xero description from "Not eligible" to "Opted Out of Kiwi Saver".
This would have saved me a lot of time and your Team there answering this question :-).1 voteHey Rachel, thanks for submitting this idea!
The team have confirmed that for employees who have opted out, they should be set up as "Automatically enrolled" then "Opt Out" with their opt out date, rather than selecting "Not eligible".
This matches to the available KiwiSaver options through IR.
As such I'll be shifting this one to 'Not planned', but if the advice from IR changes, we'll update the update the settings accordingly!

NZ Payroll - Add set Tax Rates when creating pay items
Have tax rates added to Pay Items and or a way to add employee tax rate to unscheduled pay runs so you don't have to edit tax rate when processing.
This will ensure correct tax rate is applied to all employees every time a pay is processed, whether is a normal pay run and or unscheduled pay (bonus etc)

AU Payroll - Auto populate contractor details from Contact record
Now that you have a function to create a Non-employee SubContrator who is paid Superannuation only here are some suggestions as currently it is a very labout intensive and manual process especally since STP2
- ability to populate the contractors details eg address, email, phone number from their Contact as they have been paid for an invoice via Bills
- pay items that alows you to enter the invoice value so the super is calculated - at present, new STP does not allow you to trick the system anymore so 10.5% SG has to be manually calculated
- ALLOW SPACES IN ABN…
3 votesThanks for sharing with us in product ideas, Alison. It really helps for each idea to be separate so we can gauge interest in the specific feature community would like to see, and users know exactly what they're voting for.
Reading through your feedback, you should find you can now copy and paste an ABN that contains spaces. It also appears there is an existing idea for tracking contractors Super contributions that I added your vote for and you'll be kept updated if there's any progress for.
I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea here to reflect your first point, however you're welcome to start others for the remaining ideas that you'd like to see us develop.

AU Payroll - Unpaid Intern to be set up in Xero Payroll
Unpaid Intern. I have an Uni student doing an internship. We offered to pay $500 per month as a transport allowance. The unpaid intern is not an employee. When I wanted to set this person up in Payroll, I found limitations: the only available contracts are full time, part time and casual. I tried to set her up as casual, which is wrong, and link the transport allowance. An error pop up asking to calculate Superannuation. I give up.
In this case, MYOB is better, as we have an option to "not report" and we don't pay superannuation for…1 vote -
AU Payroll - Working Holiday Maker Tax Rate Adjustment
Hi Xero Team,
I’ve noticed that Xero currently doesn’t support applying mixed tax brackets within the same pay run for Working Holiday Makers (WHM). For example, if an employee is set to receive $2,000 in one pay cycle, and the $45,000 threshold is reached after the first $1,000, the first $1,000 should be taxed at 15%, and the remaining $1,000 at 30% — both within the same pay cycle, using mixed tax brackets.
At the moment, Xero applies one tax bracket to the entire pay cycle. However, according to the ATO guidelines, doing so results in undercharging the employee,…

AU Payroll - Include all-purpose allowances in shift loading
We pay our employees under the Electrical award which includes several compulsory 'All Purpose' allowances that are now reported separately as per STP2. When our staff are paid a shift loading, these allowances need to be included in the loading. I have to manually add the allowances into each all purpose loading (which is time consuming)
Can you please have an option to fix this in the pay items? There are certain allowances that have to be included in overtime, annual leave (which you have an option to include) but you dont have one for shift loading7 votes -
UK Payroll - Seperate pre and post-tax deductions on payslip
Separating out pre & posttax deductions on PDF payslip. At the minute these are all displayed together.
Would be better if Pre tax deductions where displayed under gross salary and then taxable pay calculated, before displaying post tax deductions.
Would be easier for employees to follow.6 votes -
UK Payroll - Set the date for when payslips are available
It would be useful if payslips could be scheduled to be posted to Xero Me on a date after the payroll is run. Eg you may run the payroll mid-month but want employees to be able to see their payslips on the date the payment is made at the end of the month.

AU Payroll: Define default leave types
Currently under employees leave tab you can assign default leave types, but you can't define what the default leave types are.
Perhaps there is a simple checkbox for leave items in the payroll settings that allows you to choose.
Currently I have 4 leave types set as default, when I only really need two.6 votesHi everyone, I'm changing this idea to Delivered! 🥳
Leave types can be defined as default when a value in the 'Normal Entitlement' field in Payroll settings is entered.
To remove this leave type from being added each time a new employee is entered, you can:
- Click into Payroll, then select Payroll settings
- Click Pay Items tab, then Leave
- Click on a Leave Type that you'd like to remove as a Default Leave Type
- Remove the number of units the employee is entitled to each year under 'Normal Entitlement'
- Click Save

AU Payroll - Leave Accrual - Correct decimal places to stop over accrual.
Xero uses 4 decimal places when calculating leave accruals. As it doesn't use the standard 5 decimal places, like most payroll software, the amount of leave entitlement that you record from this in the liability account in the balance sheet and P&L expense is more than it should be.
But the bigger problem this is causing is the fact that it is actually giving the employee more accrued leave than they are entitled to.
Even though this is a small amount against each payroll, this will build up very quickly over time and as more & more employees are…
