  1. Adding a Categories/Tracking column to the transactions Dashboard. this would highlight the fact that a category label is missing. so when running the budget variances the report would include ALL the transactions for a specific category.

  2. For the line items in the Tracking Summary, please include a currency column! Historically this was available. Calculating commission now takes WAY longer. Seems like it should be an easy fix.

We use two tracking category's depending on which country the transaction relates to, the category options are the projects in that country, if a tracking option has been added to the wrong category on an invoice and you need to remove it you can't leave the category blank, on the old invoices and other areas of Xero you have (none) under the category options which you can choose if it is to be blank but this option is not there on the new invoicing

    Hey everyone, thanks again for suggesting this. Good news – the new line item grid is live for everyone now.

    With this update, getting rid of tracking is way easier. You can just hit backspace and tab through the fields, or we've also popped in a 'No tracking' option in the dropdown. We appreciate your feedback through product ideas – it really helps!

  4. Ability to show or report the variances/differences between the draft payrun and the prior period payrun.
    This would save a huge amount of time going through each payslip to ensure the usual pay is being processed and nothing has been accidentally added or missed.
    Especially when you have a large number of employees.

    Hi team, while it's not possible to view the previous pay periods figures for comparison in the current pay period, you could open the previous pay period overview in a separate browser window. Meaning you can compare the two pay runs without having to go back and forth between them.

  5. I have an employee with two bank accounts - Bank Account 2 currently has a dollar amount going to it, and Primary Bank Account has the balance. The employee would like to swap which one is getting the dollar amount and which the balance. I'd like to do this with a button.

    Instead I have to do it manually, copying and pasting field by field.

  6. I would suggest that a QR code can be placed somewhere in the workplace and it can be scanned with the Xero Me app for start and stop times. This way the employees needs to be onsite with their phones to do this. With the way it is now, any start time or finished time can be entered, relying on an honesty system.

  7. The "Details" tab lists the employee's age under the "Date of birth" field.

    Having "Employed for # Years & # Months" below the "Start date" field would be handy. It would give a quick, "at a glance" look at how long someone has been employed by a business for estimating notice periods and anticipating imminent entitlement to LSL.

    Attached is what the "Date of birth" currently looks like (I've used my own name and birth year) and a mock-up of what I'm suggesting might look like.

  8. It would be really useful to be able to track who made changes to the GST return, including who has reversed a return after it has been filed. If available it would allow a discussion to be had with the relevant person as to why the changes were made - which would save time. A recent example of this is when a GST return was filed and payment of the amount due was made. At a later date the return was then reversed and it is unclear who did this and why.   9. Hi there, we have a suggestion that would help us a lot as we have a lot of tracking categories. Could Xero add a fixed top menu and side menu so that when we scroll up and down we can still see the tracking categories and also what it relates to. Basically freeze the left column with headings and freeze the top column with headings.

    Hi team, with no response we're going to guess this is within reports. If so, with Xero reports you'll find the top row and left column- are now 'sticky', so you can see the headings when scrolling beyond where they'd be displayed. 🙂

  10. VAT - late claims. As i use tracking categories - everything runs back through the late claims part of the VAT report but, this means there a mass of data to check through for the actual late claims that i do want in there. Very time consuming to check through all this. It would be great if you could separate out - say that the things come through from the bills from the tracking categories.

Hi there, would be awesome to be able to have a column in the Xero Tracking Summary Report which would sum up the quantities from what you entered in the quantity column in the Receive Money/Spend Money when you reconcile the transactions. This is especially important when organisations are measuring the quantities (eg. number of trips taken; number of food parcels handed out) are used with Xero. As it takes a lot of time to go into each transaction and see what the quantities are to get the group total, this feature would save people a lot of time.

  13. Please enable assigning manual journals to projects and for project reports to also include the account name / account code.

    The benefits from using tracking categories far outweigh that of Xero project if features like manual journal and account transactions report is not able to reflect or is not consistent with the use of Xero projects.

    Please also consider producing a warning if project name is being duplicated. Another thing that should be critically considered is to include projects under the Find & Recode feature.

  14. We recently had an employee which had a leave type reinstated after a period of over 12 months of it not being used. There was a balance sitting in there for the duration of time that it wasn’t active, and therefore not showing on any payslips that were provided to the employee or filed. We are now in a position that we had to reactive this leave type to be in line with STP requirements and showing leave loading on a separate line. When we reactivated this leave type, ALL payslips for the period of over 12 months were updated…

    Hey Amy, I know it's been a little while since you started your idea here. Taking another read through the situation you described, there are a couple of options which depend on whether you need a record of the adjustment.

    • If you do need a record of the adjustment you'd want to post an unscheduled pay run to reverse out the leave balance for the pay period in which it should have been paid out.
    • In the case you don't need a record, you could simply adjust the opening balance for the leave type within the employee's record.

    We have help for both of these processes detailed in this article on Xero Central.

  15. Typically Xero calculates all PAYG tax to be withdrawn from employees to the nearest dollar. Correct. However, the same check isn't in place if you manually add extra tax. In the past, I included extra tax to be withdrawn from an employee and included cents in the amount. At tax prep time, this caused a headache for my accountant. Xero could easily prevent this each time or warn you closer to the end of financial year to get back on track with zero cents.

  16. Widen the display of the GST Audit report. When viewing the GST return I also check the GST audit report. When viewing the GST audit report I cannot see the date on the left side without scrolling to the bottom and using the scroll bar to move the report from side to side. It will not show all the columns at once.

    Hi everyone, our new New Zealand GST experience is now available to all users.

    As noted in my last update there is no longer a GST audit report. The transactions tab provides options to toggle different columns on or off. 

    The new experience also auto scales the page to fit information in one screen, so no more need to scroll. Thanks for all your feedback and contributing to the idea here.

  17. Add Public Holidays (and all other forms of leave) to the Leave Transactions report not just Annual Leave and Personal Leave.

    Why this isn't already the default behaviour astounds me!

  18. Edited Leave request date sends a notification to the employee for the wrong date. We recently had an employee request an RDO for 19/07/2024. After discussion with the employee this date was not suitable because the employee was due to provide training to a customer this date so we agreed to change the date to the following week (26/07/2024).

    I then edited the leave request to be for the 26/07/2024 and approved the request.

    The employee received an email notification that their request for leave on the 19/07/2024 was approved!

    The employee then contacted me because they were confused and…

    Thanks for raising this, Chris and apologies we haven't responded sooner. This was an issue that our product team picked up and I can confirm we released a fix so the date will now show correctly.

    Thanks for your interest and sharing how improvements to Xero Inventory could enhance your experience using Xero.

    Tracking of inventory for manufacturing isn't something we have direct plans of right now, however as you may have seen from my update on this idea we have started exploring development for bundling of inventory in Xero.

    At this point, our product team have some early concepts and they'd like to engage our community for feedback on these.

    Knowing your interests here, we'd like to invite you to share back on the teams work for bundling inventory. If you'd be able to give some of your time, please fill in this short form.

    Depending on interest we may not be able to involve everyone, however we'll come back to share any further progress of this with you here.

  20. Please automatically revert to the "Pay Employees" page after a payrun has been filed. At the moment after a payrun is filed with the ATO we are taken back to the "Post Payrun" / "File" page. You then have to click on "Close" to be taken to the "Pay Employees" page. Why the extra step?
