  2. For now there's a option to block issuing invoice for customer which exceed a certain credit limit. Can we have more options to block a customer, like overdue invoices etc.?

    Appreciate there are more settings that you'd like to expand the use of the Credit Limit for, Joyce. 

    In lieu of change in the direct feature atm, one way to prevent further invoices from being raised for a contact could be to set their limit to the amount of the invoice due which would stop all future invoices for the contact being raised.

  3. Being able to click on the summary page to show what is entered in that field would be good or a drop down box on the BAS summary page. Having to scroll through sales to get to the expenses is time consuming.

  4. Give us the ability to run transaction reports by Account groups (ie: Balance Sheet, P&L) so we don't have to go clicking a bunch of accounts. It would make life much easier.

  5. To create a credit note from an invoice without applying it to the invoice.
    Currently the only option is ‘create and apply credit’.
    We refund first then generate the credit note. So we need to allocate the invoice to the customer receipt, then allocate the repayment to the credit note.

    Generally this is a time saving mechanism, not having to then apply the credit to the invoice. Appreciate the detail of your workflow Susan, as definitely makes sense in what you're trying to do here. 

    We'll start to get a feel for the interest around this here, and in the meantime - Not sure if it still suits your flow however if viewing invoices from the Awaiting Payments list, if you don't need to open the invoice, you could use the 'New Credit Note' option from here. 

  6. We sent an invoice to a customer that had the bank details for payment added into Xero incorrectly on our end. Error has since been corrected, but customer has the initial Xero-generated invoice with the incorrect details. When I view the invoice in Xero now, it shows the correct bank details. Is there a way to find/see the invoice that was sent with incorrect details?

  7. On VAT returns, there are "ADJUSTED" columns. This is a good idea as it can highlight mistakes, but it also picks up any auto-rounding error created by Xero itself, always of £0.01. This is annoying as it means each of these "Adjusted" entries needs to be checked.
    My proposal is to not include any rounding errors of £0.01
    It will save a lot of time having to go through every "adjusted" item, as it would whittle them down to only ones with real error.

We currently use a custom report for our management account reporting which is basically full year budget buy account code, budget YTD, Actual YTD and variances to show remaining budget YTD and remaining annual budget. We would like to be able to add a feature that includes all approved orders not yet billed so that our stakeholders can actually see the true budgets remaining to enable them to make informed decisions about future spend.

  9. You are currently unable to see the projects within the contacts tab against a contact within Xero.
    This would be really helpful as I have some customers that have several projects on the go at one time. This would make it easier to go from one project to another for one client. It would also be a quick reference location. The added quotes, invoices and credit notes added to the contact has been a great step in simplifying contact management - the project listing would complete the loop.

  10. As an event company, we often receive bills months after the original project is "complete". I wish I could assign costs to "complete" projects the same way that I can assign invoices to "complete" projects.

    Hi Leah, when you've closed/completed a project it is still possible to add Bills and new Expense tasks to it. 

    From the bill you'll be able to look up and assign lines of your Bill, or within the project you can simply add an expense. The only transactions you can no longer add once closed are Billable expenses, Spend monies and time entries. 

    Is there a specific reason you need to enter the expense as one of these type of items? 

  11. In some instances we have matchable bank feed lines which need handling on one or two different way.

    For example, A refund might be vatable or non vatable depending on the customer
    A staff payment might be payroll or it might be expenses

    It would be nice here to have 2 rules with identical match perams, but alternative line handling and xero could suggest both of them in the bank feed. OR when you click "Don't apply role" it would suggest the next one.

Currently the custom Pool creation option does not allow for the specific depreciation requirements of a software development pool - First year to be Nil, the second , third and forth years at 30% and the final fifth year of 10%. Without this function the depreciation for these assets needs to be calculated manually.

  14. Include account code as a field on all Project Reports to filter/summarise/group by.

    Currently, all 'expenses' are clumped together under one project item type.

    To manage a project properly, it is important to see the costs for individual elements such as 'labour' 'materials' 'travel expenses' sub-contractor costs' etc (or however account codes are set for the business'

    In the Construction Industry especially we always refer to other projects when pricing up for similar ones, and in Xero there is no way to see this breakdown. This was possible in Sage

In the new contact view, everything is spread out, with lots of wasted white space (similar to the bills list without 'compact view' toggled, or the list of repeating bills (which doesn't have the ability to be compact in view). I can deal with the info I need to pick a transaction to open being on complete opposite sides of a widescreen by pulling the contact into a new window and reducing the width of that window until it's readable without excessive twisting of the head (a poor workaround for an ergonomics risk, but it's the only one I could…

  16. When using the old reports, when you opened them up they would show the current month. Now they show 12/31/22 which is useless now that we are into March. They should either default to prior month (which is what QBO does) or current month (which is what Xero used to do).

  17. I'd like an easy way to make a note on a transaction or other unique information without it having to be "found" in the notes and history at the bottom. I'm trying to give a bookkeeper/advisor a bunch of notes at once, and it would hugely helpful if somehow there was a way to send her something or have a "log" of some kind that showed my recent notes, with easy links to the transactions, so I don't have to do screen shots and send outside of Xero etc.

  20. We need to upload an Approval Matrix/Approval hierarchy with a scope depending on "Location" and "Total amount" with 2 levels of approvers for "Expense claims" (EC) & "Purchase Orders" (PO).
    With that, we are looking for automation on sending the EC & PO automatically by the system to the correspondent Approver depending on the scope through email.

    Thanks for your idea, Micaela. Expenses and Purchase Orders are quite different transactions types in Xero. 

    We try to keep one idea per thread here so we can get a true view of the interest for that specific functionality. I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea to represent Expense Claims but welcome you to start another for Purchase Orders specifically where we can track that too 🙂
