Bank Rules - Option for prepayments
There are often periodic top up payments for accounts (e.g. Tolls) and a periodic statement provided after the fact.
It would be useful to be able to set up a bank rule to apply these and reconcile the prepayments as the statements come in.

Bills - Highlight bills due to be paid by Direct Debit
It would be great to have a Direct Debit flag on the Bills area. Especially on the ones waiting payment.
That would allow us to know if a bill that is waiting payment is Direct Debit and we don't need to act, just wait to reconcile.

Invoicing - Remove credit card logos from invoice PDF
For businesses that only leverage ACH bank transfers as a form of payment, allow users the ability to remove all credit card logos from the invoice. It's not currently possible to remove the Visa and Mastercard logos from your invoices, when using Stripe as a payment service.

Auto sales tax - Ability to edit invoice with auto sales tax
This is a known issue that needs to be voted on to be prioritized.
The Auto Sales Tax feature in Xero (from Avalara) disallows the ability to edit an Invoice account category. This is a huge limitation that will have massive repercussions as time goes on. Please fix this promptly.

Bills - Add 'Upload bills' to Dashboard.
Add the 'Upload bills' feature as a widget on the Dashboard, for convenience.
At present you have to navigate to 'Bills to pay', then from the 'New bill' dropdown, select 'Upload bills'. It's a great time saving feature, but seems tucked away, and would be great if right from the dashboard I could just drop bills, and invoices, ready to process later.13 votesHi team, pleased to share that this is a feature that will be coming with the new Xero Homepage! Contacts | Files - Change the location of View button
Under Customers Accounts, File Attachments - Move the View button for the attachment to the LEFT side and keep the Delete button on the RIGHT side of the attachment. NOT next to each other.
Multiple times, we have accidentally deleted important files from the customer contact account.

NZ Payroll - Customise descriptions on payslip
It would be beneficial for clients who pay commissions to be able to customise the description on the pay slip (rather than showing just 'Withholding Income') or having to set up various 'Pay Items'.

Bills - Drag and drop Files from email into Xero
In the Bills section under- New Bill and Upload Bill you cannot currently drag and drop the file from an email into the box. You either have to email or download the file would be time saving if you could just drag and drop straight from email into the new bill box.

User role selection
Will it be possible to select multiple option for a user instead of select only one option?

Appreciate there are lots of different subsets of permissions our customers would like to see. Understanding the feature sets will help our product teams understanding.

Customer Statement - Total payments
Customer statements - will Xero enable the functionality to present payments received by customers as 1 line item? We want to see the total payment amount on the statement - not allocated to each invoice as it is currently.

UK Payroll - Employee address change
When you change an employees address on xero, it changes the address on all previous payslips to the new address it should be the address the employee was living at when the payslip was sent

New Invoicing - Allow us to have Negative quantities on invoice
In the Classic Invoicing, we could set a negative item amount which was useful to make it clear to clients that we had refunded something. It also corrected the stock levels in the inventory. In new Invoicing, you can set a negative financial amount but you are not allowed negative quantities, as such it is not clear and it messes up the stock inventory levels. You can do it via credit notes but this requires more things to be issued to clients etc.

AU - Payroll Activity Summary to show per employee
Payroll Activity Summary to show per employee, not just as a total for all employees. Currently you have to select each employee to generate the totals for 1 employee and if you have 100 employees, that's 100 reports instead of just 1.

Chart of Accounts - Assign a Tracking category
Automatically assign a tracking category to a chart of account code, so when costs are billed against the account code, it also automatically assigns those costs to a default tracking category
171 votesHi team, we've been following the conversation for being able to assign a tracking category to each account in the Chart of Accounts, and we appreciate everyone here who's taken time to share their feedback.
We understand manually assigning tracking categories to every line of a transaction is time-consuming and can lead to errors.
While not the direct idea asked here, it may help some to know that you can set a default account and tracking on individual contacts. On the flip side once transactions have been entered Find and recode is another feature that could possibly be useful to some here (however we'd recommend checking in with your advisor and testing in the demo org, before using in your own).
We want to be transparent with you here that though this idea has been carefully reviewed, like other areas of Xero the Chart of Accounts page initially…

Reports - Option for All time / All dates to view all transactions
We need to be able to select "All Dates" on a report. ex. I want to see a report for a certain account from the start of my business to the current date. now I need to select beginning date and then todays date and the update.

For anyone looking to achieve this now, you can view transactions across all time by selecting a custom date range in your reports. By setting the start date to your organisation's first transaction date and the end date to today, you can get a full historical view of your data.
We see the value in your suggestion to add a preset 'All Time' or 'All Dates' option, which would make this process a faster, one-click action.

NZ GST - Keep separate Late Claims tab
The New GST layout needs to keep the "Late Claims" separate on the transaction details report. Lumping them all together with income or expense and then the totals don't tie into the numbers on the face of the GST return is frustrating. I can see you can filter by "late claims" but we don't want to have to export and manipulate the data when sending the documents to clients.
It doesn't make sense that the detailed transaction report doesn't match the face of the GST return without manipulating
87 votesThank you for your feedback on the changes for NZ GST returns here, everyone. Late Claims display in the body of the return, to review them. If you click on this the Transaction tab will open and to toggle Late claims on and off, select the 'More' option.
Late claims have been separated into their own section in the Transactions tab, and if needed you can also use the Filter to choose to only view Late Claims. We'll soon be updating the export to PDF to allow late claims to be excluded.
We want to be open that we don't have plans for separating these back into their own tab and will close this idea. We still very much appreciate your feedback and will continue to iterate on this overtime to make filling and filing GST for an organisation simpler and more efficient.

Batch payments - Ability to include credit notes
Allow the inclusion of Credit Notes in Batch Payments where the total to be paid to a supplier is still positive. This would allow a single batch for a Supplier to match their Statement, particularly where credit notes are not related to specific Bills.

I can assure you this has not gone unnoticed and internally there have been reviews and discussions for how batch payments can be improved. We have the appetite, but as with all developments this must be weighed up and considered against many other important changes needed in product.
We want to be upfront that developing the ability to include Credit notes in Batch payments has not been planned at this stage.
As some may have seen, we do have work going on around being able to include Credit Notes as part of the reconciliation process. We understand for many on this idea the timing of including credit notes when you’re creating the batch payments is crucial, however we hope that when delivered at least being able to reconcile these more efficiently…

e-invoicing Germany
From 1st January 2025 businesses in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices and this function does not exist in the Global edition we use for our German clients.
We need this functionality setting up as a matter of urgency.

While we don't have immediate work planned at this stage our plan is to support any Peppol-enabled region in the long term and we are paying close attention to the interest from users on this idea. We'll be sure to update of any progress surrounding this for you, here.
The mandate currently states "The new legal regulation currently contains no specifications for the electronic transmission of electronic invoices. An email inbox should therefore initially be sufficient to receive an electronic invoice."
Based on this, currently with Xero an eInvoice could be received by using our Email to bills service, or by including the invoice as an attachment and sending to your organisation's Files library. On agreement with your suppliers you could share your bills, or files library email with them so…

NZ Payroll - Annual Leave option to add in Days instead of hours
Would be easier for employees & team leaders approving leave if annual leave is able to be requested in days and half days. Or to have the option to select either days or hours when requesting annual leave through the Xero Me app.
It's the most common complaint I hear from our employees that it would be way easier if they could just put in 1 day instead of working out the hours they want to take off.
