New invoicing - Option to use Xero Network
xero to xero Invoicing
We use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero.
On 02 Sept 2024 this version will retire and only New Invoicing will be available.
We are not able to select "send via Xero Network" from the New Invoicing option (using our Xero Network Key).
Are the technical teams still working on this to have the option available or will this option fall away?

As you’ve found, there’s no functionality in New Invoicing to use Xero to Xero invoicing, as this option is being retired.
However, you can raise a suggestion directly with our product team to suggest they implement this functionality in the New Invoicing functionalities, as they're still developing additions and improvements to New Invoicing.

Hi community, we’ve been working hard to continue delivering valuable enhancements for our customers, and we know from your feedback being able to send via the Xero network from an invoice was important to how you invoice with Xero.
I’m pleased to share this feature is in the process of being released, currently with 50% of users we expect to have this in everyone’s hands soon.
Once available, when creating an invoice if you enter a Contact you’ve saved a Xero network key for you’ll see an option beneath the invoice appear ‘Send via Xero network’ (similar to when you send an eInvoice). As an addition, with the way we’ve rebuilt this feature you can now also include any attachments when sending the invoice. These'll be received on the draft bill created in your customers org! I’ll round back to confirm when this is live to everyone 🙂

Wow, just stumbled upon this now. I agree with all the points made and prefer the classic view. We are a Gold partner and find the option via Xero network mixed with Hubdoc incredibly useful.
A couple of options for those looking to keep using it beyond September:
1. Send to Hubdoc and configure it to automatically post to Xero.
2. Repeating invoices will still be able to send via Xero network.No announcements have been made on the two options above changing anytime soon.

Please incorporate the Xero to Xero feature in the new invoicing or allow users to continue using the old version of invoicing. It does not make sense to eliminate a feature that works well and saves people time. The eInvoicing option mentioned by the Community Manager is not available in most countries. Xero to Xero was a competitive advantage that Xero had over other accounting systems. Why would you get rid of that?

Additionally frustrating that this hasn't been communicated clearly in any of the comms telling us to start using new invoicing / how great new invoicing is going to be etc...

I initially commented back on the 6 December 2023 when I established there was the issue with the new invoicing method relating to send via Xero network. I adopted the method I was advised being to authorise but not email then go to my awaiting payment register and select the invoices and email which allows the invoices to go via the Xero network, whilst frustrating and additional time consuming at least this method is still available. I have to question the whole layout of the new invoicing screen. Moving around actually takes more time than the original sales screen, when you drop down the GL box to pick a particular income stream, if you have GL codes that have quite lengthy names (which can occur) you actually can't clearly see the GL name (which you could in the original sales screen). When you copy an invoice in the original sales method it would bring across the customers name, now you have to search for the customer again (more time consuming). Sorry Xero, whilst I love using your program and have transitioned many clients from other programs to Xero, you have taken a step back with this change. Feel like you are treating Xero users as "dumb" with plain looking screens.

I agree with the majority of these comments. I encouraged my Myob clients to move to Xero as it has numerous time saving features that other software doesn't have. I would really appreciate the Xero to Xero feature made available on the new invoicing screen at your earliest convenience. Alternatively give the users the option to continue on with classic invoicing.
I would also like to vote even though it is pretty clear from disgruntled users that Xero has made a mistake on removing the Xero to Xero feature.

I refuse to use New Invoicing until all the issues have been resolved. This is just another example of the Xero Developers not understanding their own product!

Disappointed that the voting system is not working here and wonder if this is deliberate as you won't really be able to see how much this is a needed feature if the voting system has been disabled.
Very disappointed. I think this was a key feature and a differentiator for Xero. It will definitely increase my job role and I will definitely get paid slower.

I cannot believe Xero are not continuing this functionality in new invoicing.
It’s such a time saver. Everything about the new invoice format is adding time to our jobs. Can we charge the additional hours to Xero as I don’t think our clients would appreciate their bills going up.
The other alternative for us is to switch to a different software. -

Xero to Xero has been a godsend for our intercompany invoicing. It cut down on so much work. The decision to remove it is asinine and does nothing to improve the functionality of Xero. It only achieves the opposite

Agree with all the comments here. Xero to Xero functionality is a key component of Xero invoicing and essential to how we use Xero. Not great at all if the new invoicing system does away this - otherwise are we saying that Xero to Xero is going to be discontinued then on 1st September 2024? We've not been notified that Xero to Xero is being discontinued....

The 'Send via Xero Network' function is a great one to use when using multiple companies within Xero. It would be a shame to see it removed. We moved to Xero because of these little great functions when comparing to Sage. Removing them removes some of the benefit of something like Xero and potentially people start looking at Sage again.

Hello, I am very concerned that this feature will be deprecated. I use this feature with every invoice I send. How can I send invoice via Xero Network with new invoicing? Will this be implemented before the new invoice format takes over Sept 1, 2024? Or will this NECESSARY feature be deprecated?
