  1. When uploading a receipt, Xero should recognise the information on the receipt and automatically find the bank transaction or ones similar to match with, like what Quickbooks does. It would make life a lot easier.

  2. Add a net cash movement line (cash in minus cash out) overlaid on the Cash In & Out widget.

This would let business owners instantly see whether cash is actually building or eroding over time, without running reports or exporting data.

A net cash overlay (or toggle) would make the dashboard far more useful for real-world cashflow decision-making.

Hi Regan, we can see how having a net cash movement line would be a real time-saver. While the bars for money coming in and going out give a good sense of activity, having that “bottom line” plotted as a trend would make it much easier to see your actual cash flow health at a glance.

At the moment, the Cash In and Out widget already shows cash in, cash out, and the difference, where a cash in net shows as a positive difference and vice versa. For a more detailed view, head to Short-term Cash Flow under the Reporting menu to explore trends and movements beyond the main dashboard.

I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can see how many in the community would find a net cash line useful. If this is something that would make your day-to-day easier, add your vote or share your experience—hearing…

  3. When refreshing the bank feed we used to get a "loading" type of notification on the old layout on the homepage when it was actively refreshing. Now nothing seems to be showing but when I switch back to the old layout I can see that it's "loading" (or if I click on the bank itself).

It's helpful to know if the feeds is "thinking" or not so I don't prematurely bug the client to fix on their end. And an overview of all the accounts that are loading is nice instead of having to click on each one. Thanks!

Hi everyone, it does sound like a bank feed status indicator would be a really helpful addition, giving you a quick sense of whether your imported statement lines are fully up-to-date or still processing.

We understand how important it is to have that confirmation—without a clear visual cue, it can be hard to tell if the feed is still loading, has completed, or if something has gone wrong. Knowing the current status at a glance helps you trust the numbers and act quickly if there’s an issue.

As such, we've moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest in making bank feed status more visible on the homepage. It would be great to hear from the community and understand how this could make a difference for everyday workflows.

  4. From the watchlist for chart of accounts I would prefer the link go to the balance sheet, not the full chart of accounts.

  5. Watched Clients/suppliers widget

Summarise the invoices and Bills for a given contact
It would be nice to have an overview of specific (perhaps problematic) clients.
It would be good to be able to see at a glance:
    - average payment timeframe (i.e. usually 5 days late etc.)
    - current credit/debt value
    - scheduled invoices/bills

Hi everyone, I can see how having a watchlist for key customers or suppliers would be really useful. Whether it’s keeping an eye on a major account’s balance or making sure a supplier hasn’t overbilled you, having those names front and center would save a lot of manual searching.

Right now, important accounts can sometimes slip through the cracks, since you have to remember to check on them individually. A dedicated watchlist would mean Xero could flag the status of these contacts the moment you log in, helping you stay on top of your business relationships.

For now, you can use the Account Watchlist to track overall categories, and for individual contacts, you can bookmark their Activity page in your browser. This lets you jump directly to their transactions and balances with a single click, saving time navigating through multiple screens.

I’ve updated this idea to Gaining Support so our…

  8. Can we be allowed to change the time selection on the cash in and out view (eg to 12/13 or even 18 months?) seems to be stuck on 6 months for me. I think to see trends you really need to see at least a year

Hi there, thanks for the suggestion!

You're right that the current 'Total Cash In and Out' widget is fixed to a 6-month view.

While you can see longer periods by running a Cash Summary report, I understand that having that 12 or 18-month trend visible immediately on your dashboard would be much more powerful for spotting seasonal patterns.

I’ve classified this as 'Gaining Support' to see how many others would like more flexibility with this widget's timeframe

  9. The 'Last Signed In' date on the homepage is a bit misleading when in the situation where you signed in before the Xmas break, and then signed in again in the new year. Currently the way it handles this 'Last signed in 1 year ago' makes it sound like you haven't signed in for 12 months.

I think a better solution here would be if it just said x days ago

  10. The only option is for the Homepage - but my suggestion is for the whole system.

Having negative values in brackets and coloured RED - easier to see at a glance. To me that should be a basic feature. Extending that to reports also so there is less filtering etc.

  11. Please add a widget on the homepage that displays the bank accounts in a simple table format, including the account name, balance, and transactions that need reconciliation.

Overall, the new layout takes up too much space, making it difficult to fit essential information on a screen.

A more compact view without unnecessary elements would be appreciated.

And also the optin to disable popup adverts!

Hi team, as we continue to closely monitor feedback about the new Homepage we really appreciate your input and feedback on the view of bank accounts here.

We understand how having a more compact view of all bank accounts to see the information you need at a glance would be useful and are picking this idea up to dig deeper. I'll be back to share any news around this with you all here. Thanks

  12. VISUAL: Adaptive layout & zoom to fit?

I use my widescreen monitor to use two windows side-by-side, but then the Xero window has a lot of negative space around the tabs (see image) and the only way I can find to make this larger is to zoom in the browser, but that makes all the browser items zoomed, which I don't want. If I enlarge the Xero tab, the layout adjusts to a sweet spot, but that also doesn't fit nicely on full screen, and I end up clicking between things more than is efficient, so it should ideally sit…

Hi everyone, thanks for raising this. It’s clear that the information people want to see in homepage widgets varies a lot. For some, the invoice reference is key; for others it’s the due date or the contact. Being able to choose which columns appear would make these widgets far more useful for quick daily checks.

Right now, if the detail you need isn’t shown in the widget, you have to leave the homepage and open the full Invoices or Bills list, or run a relevant report just to confirm. That takes away from the idea of the homepage being a true at-a-glance view.

I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can understand demand for more flexible homepage widgets. If there’s a specific column you rely on every day, call it out in the comments — that will be useful to us.

Really good to get this sort of detail about aspects of the homepage that you feel could be condensed or removed to help with your experience of the homepage. We're continuing to get an understanding of community interest around this and hear any further detail of where within the page you feel space is unnecessary. Thanks

Hi everyone, thanks again for sharing input on widget placement on the homepage.

As mentioned in our last update, once you Edit Homepage and Save the layout this will be saved for that screen size. If you change screens a prompt is also surfaced to explain that you may want to reset and save your layout.

While we don’t have plans to allow vertical stacking at this stage, we're improving the edit experience. This will make it easier to see how changing a widget's position shifts other items on your screen. I’ll let you know as soon as this is released.

  18. Please include the option to turn off the graphs for the 'invoices owed to you' and 'bills to pay'. I know people might like seeing the visual, but I just want to see the dollar value, and the graph just makes the widget too big so I can't see the other things I want to see at a glance. Thanks.

Thank you to everyone that's joined and shared feedback on our new homepage experience, here. Continuing to review and take this on board our team are working on some updates to the Invoices owed to you and Bills to pay widgets.

The intention is to offer more flexibility in the size of these widgets with the ability to reduce and remove the graph from showing.

I'll come back to share more as this progresses.

  19. Create a buisness planner to plan your work force to a job site with costings for the job all on the app , when the job is marked as finished the invoice gets marked as ready to send requiring approval without the extra admin of retyping everything out its all there and nothing is lost track off. You could plan lorrys from it too would be a huge competetive edge.

Hi Mark, we hear you—having work and invoicing more connected could make things feel smoother and help reduce the chance of missing items.

Some people use Xero Projects to track time and expenses against a job and bring those details into invoices. Another approach is the Quote to Invoice flow: you can raise a quote when a customer requests a job, mark it as accepted once they agree to the price, and then, when the job is complete, copy the quote to an invoice. This automatically populates invoice fields with the information from the quote, helping save time and reduce manual entry.

You can try these approaches in the Demo Organisation to see how they might work for your workflow.

This idea has been moved to Gaining Support, and we’d love to hear from others about which parts of your workflow you’d most like to see more connected.

  20. Add the number of transactions that have been auto reconciled (since last login) for each bank account so that we need to check the auto reconciled transactions rather than think that there is nothing to reconcile. Now we have to drill down into each account to check if there was anything and this takes longer than reconciling the transactions in the first place, making it easier to turn off the auto reconcilie functionality.

Hi Kathy, a quick “recap” of what’s happened while you were away could be really useful—especially when automation is handling a lot of the work, it’s reassuring to have that confirmation without having to dig through transactions.

For now, you can review all reconciled statement lines via “View all reconciled” from the last date you previously checked. It does take manual effort to remember the exact date, but it’s a practical workaround for now.

We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support, and it’d be great to hear from you and others about how you’d use a summary feature—your examples really help the team understand its potential impact.
