    Hi Melissa, thanks for bringing this up. It’s clear that when you’re processing a high volume of invoices, having to open each one individually to attach a file can slow things down.

    One option for now is to upload documents into the Files inbox first and then assign them to the relevant invoice. While this can help streamline part of the process, we understand that being able to drag and drop attachments directly from the list view would make document management much more efficient.

    As we allow one idea per post to ensure support is tracked accurately, if you’d also like to see this functionality extended to Bills, please feel free to raise that as a separate idea so it can gather its own votes and feedback.

  2. Please put the quick link button on the new layout to "manage bank accounts".
    It's annoying it's not there now, I use it alot!

    Hi Juliet, thanks for sharing this idea! A direct "See All" link on the dashboard would make it even easier to view and manage all your bank accounts in one place.

    Right now, you can click into Accounting > Bank Accounts to see the full list, but having a single shortcut from the Homepage would help you move through your reconciliation tasks more smoothly. I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so our product teams can track interest and see how this could enhance the daily experience for users.

  3. Would love a widget that shows the leave requests sorted by closest leave date to later leave dates with a filter option to adjust to be able to show just pending approval, just approved or all.

    Another widget that would be helpful is a summary of timesheets submitted for the current pay period/ next due pay run.

    Hi Tamara, thanks for sharing this suggestion. Having a Timesheet Summary widget available directly on the dashboard sounds like it could make it much easier to keep an eye on submitted hours and stay on top of approvals without needing to navigate into Payroll.

    To make sure we can track interest clearly for each request, we keep ideas to one feature per post. Since you also mentioned employee leave requests, I’ve located an existing idea for a Leave Request widget and added your support there so it can continue to gather votes and feedback.

    I’ve moved this post to Gaining Support so we can focus on the Timesheet Summary idea here and track how helpful others would find having this visibility on their dashboard.

  4. I love that there is an easy to see red link to overdue invoices on the homepage, but could this also be added to the Invoices page? I keep going through extra clicks because I click into my overdue invoices to deal with them, select an invoice, and then have the 'back to invoices' link but if I click this there is then no option to select only overdue invoices to view. Also it would be great when viewing all invoices to have some easy way (maybe an '!' symbol or similar so it's colour-blind friendly) to identify which ones…

    Hi Laura, thanks for putting this forward.

    Having a quicker way to access overdue invoices would certainly make daily credit control more efficient and help you stay on top of cash flow.

    In the meantime, you can select the “Overdue” section within the Invoices owed to you widget on the dashboard to jump straight to those invoices. If you open an invoice from that list, using your browser’s back arrow will return you to the same overdue view. Another option is to open invoices in a new tab so the overdue list remains open in the original tab.

    I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can capture interest and share with the product team how useful a dedicated shortcut would be.

  6. Create a "low bandwidth" version this is now so much slower than the old page on slow internet connections 271 resource requests is just stupid for a home page and 1=nearly 50mb of resources? not everyone has fiber to the building and a 250mb/s connection.

    Hi Geoffery, thanks for sharing this! We can see how a smoother experience on slower connections would make working in Xero more seamless, especially when you’re remote or have limited internet.

    Right now, using the Xero mobile app for lighter tasks or clearing your browser cache can help speed things up, but we know a dedicated low-bandwidth mode would make day-to-day work even easier.

  7. Quotes Need a bit of work, You've just added ability to generate a link - that's great, however, still can't share quote in the app.

    While creating a quote for a new customer - you can't add any of their details (but you can if you create an invoice), you have to create new customer first then go back to creating a quote, we have a lot of new customers just walking in.

    Often we'll start on an Invoice Page and we can't just change that invoice to quote once it's started. Is it possible to change invoice to quote…

    Hi Adam, thanks for sharing this idea. We can see how needing to leave the Quotes screen to update a phone number or address interrupts your momentum.

    At the moment, the option is to create a basic contact and then update their details from the Contacts menu afterward. While that works, we understand that being able to enter or edit everything in one place would make the process smoother.

    I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest and highlight to our product teams how in-screen editing could simplify the quoting workflow.

    Hi everyone, thanks for bringing this idea to the community! Having an “Income in Advance” widget right on the dashboard would give you an instant view of your future revenue, helping you see your financial position without extra clicks.

    At the moment, this usually means running specific reports or manually calculating deferred income, which can slow down your daily workflow. In the meantime, you can run the Cash Flow Manager, which shows projected cash in and out, or keep a starred Balance Sheet or custom tracking report in your Favorites for quicker access.

    I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest and show our product teams how helpful this visibility would be for managing cash flow.

  9. New layout is great now I've got used to it. I do miss the Tax and Reporting box where I had quick links to useful items such as VAT return, CIS return. Could you add this as an optional widget on the new dashboard please? Thanks.

    Hi Andrea, appreciate your sharing on how having a “Tax and Reporting” shortcut on the dashboard would make accessing tax returns and key reports quicker and simpler. Navigating through multiple menus can slow things down, especially when deadlines are looming.

    In the meantime, you can access your VAT return directly from the Tax menu on the navigation bar for quicker access.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea! We can see how having a “Create Repeating Invoice” shortcut right on the dashboard would make managing recurring invoicing faster and more seamless.

    Currently, you navigate through the Invoices menu to reach the Repeating tab, which adds extra steps. I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so our product teams can track interest and understand how much this shortcut could help streamline regular invoicing.

  11. The new Dashboard can be huge and challenging to navigate if you have multiple bank accounts. It will be helpful to have a section with ALERTS at the top of the page.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion! We can see how having the "Items to Reconcile" alerts visible while scrolling would make daily bookkeeping faster and more seamless. It’s all about helping you stay on top of your work without extra clicks or screen-jumping.

    For now, you can use the 'Bank Accounts' widget or the Tasks widget to see if there's any items to be reconciled, but we know a persistent global bar would make this even easier.

    I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support to get more perspective from the community, so we can show our product teams the value this would bring.

  12. Like others, I think the options listed for profit and loss on the hompage are too restrictive. The app has better options. I want to know where I stand financially including upcoming payments (to distribute profits) so I tend to use the "Finincial year" P&L rather than "year to date". The app has this but the homepage doesn't.

    Thanks for your feedback! It makes complete sense that you’d want the same visibility on your desktop as you have on your mobile app, especially when you're trying to track your financial position for the full year.


    I’ve classified this as Gaining Support. While you can see this data by clicking through to your full Profit and Loss report, I agree that having a "Financial Year" toggle directly on the Dashboard widget would be a great efficiency win.


    I've updated the title of your idea to "Dashboard - Add 'Financial Year' option to the Profit and Loss widget" to help other users find and vote for it.

    Hi Ian, thanks for your feedback. We don't have plans to enable the ability to add quick access options directly to the homepage but we'll see the support your idea gets here in community.

    For the time being, you may find the keyboard shortcuts that are available handy in quickly navigating where you need. 🙂

  14. A widget to quickly locate "most recent invoices put in system".

    We use Xero in our retail store and sometimes we end up DOUBLING up invoices for one order (paperwork is picked up by another helpful person to put in, but has already been put in).
    Also good for tracking daily invoices/orders placed.

    Good to know the different elements that our customers find would help them rom the Homepage, Merlin. We'll continue to get a sense of the interest in this here.

    For the time being just to make sure you're aware - The History & notes report is probably most useful to you atm for getting a view of this. You'll be able to run the report for an individual all or users across your organisation and can filter to select only Invoice for Type. Once run if you type 'Created in the search box this'll further zone into just the invoice created by the selected users with in the date range. 🙂

We have various users from accounts administrator to operations managers and the new home screen will automatically show them extra information they don't necessarily need, as in, the operations managers should ideally have the bills and invoices front and centre and not really each other's credit cards. Also, the profit and loss widget is extremely annoying being there as our management is presented with monthly accrual basis accounts and use a custom P+L that require a large number of journals done so the profit and loss widget is wrong until the journals get done. At the moment, the only way…

    Hi Debbie, thanks for sharing this idea! Giving a Subscriber control over the team’s homepage layout would be really useful—helping everyone focus on the right tasks while keeping sensitive information private.

    Right now, each user customises their own dashboard, so it can be tricky for admins to know exactly what’s visible. For now, User Roles can limit access to certain data, or you can share a simple SOP with a screenshot of your preferred layout for staff to match.

  17. On the "Invoices owed to you widget" please add a button to go straight to "repeating invoices." You currently have "New invoice" and "View all invoices." It looks like you have room to add "Repeating invoices." You could change the text from "View all invoices" to "All invoices" if you needed more room.

    As a short-term workaround, you could bookmark the Repeating Invoices page in your browser or pin that tab so it’s always within easy reach. It’s not quite the same as having a dashboard shortcut, but it can help shave off some time while we continue to gather feedback.

    Hi Terry, it's great to hear your idea on how to make the dashboard work harder for you! Having your key reports front and center would make it more accessible.

    Right now, jumping into the full reports menu multiple times a day can feel a bit repetitive, especially when you rely on certain custom reports.

    For now, you can use the “Starring” feature in the Reports center. Star your favourites and they’ll appear at the top of the Reporting menu for quicker access. Some users also find it handy to bookmark report URLs in their browser for instant access.

    This idea is now Gaining Support, so the product team can see how much interest there is in more dashboard customisation.

  19. With many accounts on the homepage (for example multiple currency accounts), it would be great to be able to drop the widgets into a group. Almost like the iPhones home screen. The difference would be that I could have the ability to resize the group to display the widgets in the group so they could be seen all at one (if desired). e.g. A collapsable view. e.g. All my EUR accounts grouped together.

    Rather than making the group resizable to any size, it would be limited to a 3x1 or a 1x3 arrangement, Or some other practical variation

    Hi everyone, it makes a lot of sense to want a cleaner way to organise dashboard widgets. When related items like bank accounts or invoice summaries are grouped together, it’s easier to find what you need without much scrolling..

    For now, you can use the Edit dashboard button at the bottom of the page to reorder widgets—move your most-used ones to the top and hide the rest.

    This idea is now Gaining Support, so we can see how many others would like more control over dashboard layout. We’d love to hear how you’d group your widgets—keep the votes and comments coming!

  20. I would like lines around the widgets as I find it confusing to see where each one starts and finishes. When I use the edit homepage option the lines are good.
