  1. For clients who use the iPad app for quotes, it is important that the quote be able to be printed. This would be for Xero clients whose customers visit a place of business ("the shop") to discuss an order; the Xero client should be able to print the quote for delivery to the client.
    For one of my potential clients, this procedure applies to 95% of the quote opportunities.

    As of this writing, it is not possible to Share the quote (only email) and if converted to a draft invoice, tapping the Share option automatically converts it to Approved without…

  2. To include invoice link in column fields when exporting invoice details.

    Reason: During times of audit, we will need to extract the invoices and it has to be done 1 by 1.
    With this function made available, we are able to provide the links to the auditors in 1 click of a button.

  3. Please look at amending the template for customer statements. Its terribly presented at the moment with overpayments being recognised under the invoiced amount section as a negative and balances not cumulating at the end

    Hi Neilin, I know you've mentioned customising the template, however from the sounds you'd like to change the behaviour of how items within a customer statement is represented?

    If so it'd be good to understand more of the reason of why you're wanting to show overpayments as a positive? 

    If a customer has paid more than expected amount this amount is then a credit on their record and in turn draws down the total amount owed. 

    Alternatively you may want to be looking at recording as a prepayment?

  5. When printing an invoice I would like to go to the customer's account and bring forward the balance that is on their account.
    And have this balance on a line above the net amount for this invoice, which would then add the gross amount to the brought forward value and have aline below the gross amount of the invoice, showing the total amount that they owe to date including this invoice.

  6. When invoicing, there is a drop down arrow/menu next to the "Print PDF" button, where you can select 'Invoice' or 'Packing Slip'.

    We need this feature to be available in the quote for printing a picking slip / delivery docket.

    Is it possible to add this functionality?

    Thanks for raising and supporting the idea here, community. Being open this isn't something we're looking to develop into Quotes for the time being. However, if needed you could have two branding themes, with a different Quote template: one for the quote itself, and one for a packing slip.

    You could then edit the quote, and switch the branding theme to the one you want to send out.

  7. We would like to indicate a specific percentage of retention money held by our client on our sales invoices to them. This retention is then payable to us after a specific amount of months.

    Hi community, in lieu of having a direct feature for this I wanted to highlight the option shared earlier on in this thread (Thanks Peter!) for those it may help.

    As mentioned, currently you could enter a separate line on the invoice, with a negative amount for the retention value, and code this to a 'customer retentions' account in the Balance Sheet. You could also add a comment in the Description field, indicating the cumulative retention value.

    The Account Transactions Report can then be used to manage the values being carried forward. 

    Being open, this isn't something we have planned for development at this time, however we'll continue to gather the interest here, and if there's any changes we'll let you know. 

  8. It would be great if the Reference field was moved to the body of the sales invoice so that you could add item line referencing with the option to enable the referencing to print on the sales invoice.

    For example, a plumbing business completes work for a customer that has multiple rental properties. If the reference field was in the body of the sales invoice, they could add the applicable property address here so that they and the customer could differentiate what work was completed at each property for the invoiced period.

  9. It would be nice when entering transactions, for the date field to remain as the last entered date, at least while staying on the transaction page. It is frustrating having to enter the date each and every time when entering transactions. I understand a lot of people are working in there, in real time, and that it is beneficial that the date is always "todays" date, however, when entering stuff for a client from the previous month, this gets annoying.

  10. I would like to have clients phone numbers included when saving a CSV Export of Invoices. This feature is unavailable, though all other client data such as name, address and email gets exported.

    I need to be able to track my clients 6 monthly and 12 monthly and send them SMS and this is the easiest way to access invoice dates and client data in a CSV file.

    I find it very strange the phone data column was not included and hasn't been requested until now.

  11. Please consider adding templates in your quoting section , this is a simple but extremely helpful and time saving tool to have when quoting , saves huge time and at the end time is money.

    The inventory items in the templates need to automatically update with latest prices when utilized.

  12. When a Xero customer is creating an invoice for another Xero customer - why not allow this to automatically show up in the Bills section, if the receiver agrees to this. Would save a heap of time and coding.

    Hi team, sorry we have not engaged with this idea before now. I'm pleased to confirm that this idea is already a feature within Xero.

    If a user is in an eInovicing region(AU, NZ or UK) and has registered to receive eInvoices, once you add them as the Contact to your invoice the option to 'Send as an eInvoice' will appear.

    For non-eInvoicing regions the option to send via the Xero network is available and your customer will be able to share their Xero network key with you to send with this option - This option is currently available from the Awaiting Payments list screen, however we're currently developing the ability to send with the Xero Network from within an invoice and you can stay updated on this delivery here.

  15. Label printing. It would be so much easier if having entered the name and address on an invoice we could then print the name and address directly onto a label writer (something easily done using Sage software). We are a publisher, selling books via a website to people who usually only ever make one purchase, so we don't want to create an unnecessarily massive contact list. At the moment we have to type their name and address onto the invoice, then type it all over again on the label writer software, thus doing the same thing twice with the chance…

  16. When selecting ACTIVITY under the Statements section, it would be helpful to filter receipts only. I can currently print a Statement of Activity using a custom advanced template I created, but I sometimes want to omit the invoices to show the client a list of receipts only in a nice report format. To recap, looking for a Statement of Activity, but only showing receipts for the period of time I select.

    Hi Kathi, having a bit of a play with reports this is possible through the use of the Customer Invoice Activity report

    You can add a Filter for Source to only select Receivable Payments - this would then show all payments your customers have made without detail of the individual invoices themselves - Have a try and let us know if this solves your needs here 😊

  17. When sending a quotation it would be really helpful if the system did not allow the quote to exceed the number of items held in inventory in the same way as invoicing does. There is little point in quoting for items that we do not hold in stock and we do not operate negative balances for inventory.

    Appreciate your interest in raising your idea. Being open this isn't something we have plans for right now. There are some industries where it is common to quote for stock that is yet to be purchased, without having to purchase he inventory in advance. 

    We'll continue to monitor the idea here, but want to be upfront that there are no plans to change this in the near term. 

  18. We are a subscription based business, so it would be great to be able to bulk update repeating invoice amounts. Either by selecting all the ones we'd like to change or by pushing through new inventory/product/service price changes. At the moment we have to change every single repeating invoice and this takes hours and hours!

    Thanks for the feedback and great to hear the use you find in repeat templates in Xero. 

    While there's no way to bulk update templates atm, you may find updating your templates through export & import of invoices more helps quicken things up?

    You could export invoices that have been generated from your template to CSV, update the amounts in the exported file, and then re-import

    This will create 'Draft' invoices in your Xero org from which you can create a Repeat template and then delete the draft. 🙂

  19. I would like a feature added so that we can add a billable expense to an Invoice even though a payment has been made by customer. It is crazy that you have to delete a deposit from a client so that you can then add a billable expense to the invoice for tracking. Customers pay a deposit then goods are ordered for their job.
