If Reimbursements are meant to be used for certain allowances then we need to be able to set up units and unit rates in the same way as we do for allowances, otherwise the calculation becomes a manual one and leaves room for human error. It also means reporting is not clear on how the amount was calculated as even though you can enter a description on the payslip i dont beleive there is a report that summarises this.
    ie for overtime meal allowances you should be able to show how many you have paid and at what rate so…

  3. There is currently only one default setting for NI contributions to be made to. It is though necessary to separate out employee and director costs. Even direct employees and overhead categorised employees. Other pay items allow postings to different ledger accounts but not NI deductions. Would just save a lot of manual journal posting to correct payroll run postings.

  4. The problem is if you set a deduction item in payroll on Xero it doesn't give option to pick P&L nominal account, where reimbursements to employees should be coded. The only work around are journals, which is ineffective when you have clients posting payroll themselves and they need management reports each month, so you have to reanalyze and repost their payroll.

  6. Unallocated leave. The only leave an employee should be allowed to create is leave that has been allocated to them. Unpaid leave if it has been created is automatically an option for all employees despite them not having it allocated to them. And thus the employees choose that leave which also requires no approval, which should also be a thing, why can employees automatically give themself unpaid leave without manager approval? So 2 changes above that I'd like implemented

  7. We are after a report which shows the leave accrual rates for each individual employee in bulk report. I know we can view each individual employee by clicking on their leave balance and looking at the "Hours of leave accrued annually by a full-time employee. However for businesses with a large number of employees, this is very time consuming, therefore we would like a bulk report we can run to view all employees accrual rates in the one report.

  8. Payment Summaries in STP - Copies of prior years.

    • It would be helpful if we could retrieve copies or make reprints of prior year payments. This is particular helpful where a new client comes on board, and you will not have history on files.

  9. Where payslips are emailed to an email address that is invalid and returns a kick back message.
    Xero to forward kick back message or advise Payroll ID that sent emails out of a problem for an employee's email so that invalid email can be investigated and amended.

    We also use Xero Me for employees however not everyone sets this up on receipt of invite and just prefer to receive email advices.

  10. So simple but not available. To record an absence i.e. sickness (unpaid) IN DAYS and to have a simple report showing dates and number of days sick.

    The payroll reporting is so seriously lacking in all areas

  11. I would like to be able to select the leave types in the leave balance report. As at today it gives you all leave types in the report. You cannot filter either as it only allows filtering of amount, employee group and units.

    Hi team, as you've noted there isn't a way to select multiple specific leave types in the Leave Balances report.

    Right now you could run the report for all leave types, and click the leave type column header to sort the leave types together.

    From here if you export to Excel you could then delete the rows of the leave types you don't want, and recalculate the totals such as amount.

    Alternatively, you can select one leave type at a time and run the report for each required leave type.

    We'll keep a track of the volumes of support this idea receives here and share if there are any updates.

  12. Changing an employee's surname due to marriage, for example, changes their details for historical payslips and all other payroll historical reports. Could a field be added perhaps that allows for 'maiden name' or 'previously known as' without disrupting historical info?

  13. It would be great to have a Leave Balances report that reported in hours to match the employees' payslip balances for management to use. The current leave balances report only shows accrued leave in dollars not hours.

  14. Given that we are now can add employees into different tracking/groups on Xero.
    It works well when we post a pay run and it puts all transactions in Wages expenses, super expenses, PAYG W and super payable, but not Wages Payable. Seems odd that it doesn't.

  15. Payroll Overview Dashboard - Can you please make this editable so that it can be customised to what details we want to see at an easy glance? Also the Calendar populates all 'holidays/public holidays' regardless of what state/country you're in. This should be customisable so that you can opt to only have your relevant holidays shown.

  16. Currently, when you assign a leave type to a new employee, for all leave types other than annual leave and personal leave you have to go into that leave type on the employee card and manually change the leave settings to what should be the default for all employees. For example, RDOs should always be paid out on cessation of employment, but the default setting is "not paid out", and I cannot change the default setting, only each individual's settings.

    I should be able to set what the default settings are, to reduce the likelihood of stuffing it up.

    Thanks for your patience, it’s been a little while since you raised this idea, so we wanted to touch base. We've now reviewed this idea and have moved it to Gaining Support status. Our product team are keeping an eye on this idea and we will continue to share updates as things evolve.

  17. Fixing issues with holidays and making pro-rata holiday calculations automatically
    Calculate starting holiday allowance from the starting date of the employee for new employees joining throughout the year.
    Calculate final holiday allowance based on the end of employment date when employees leave.
    Since Xero knows the holiday hours per year and the working patterns, it has everything it needs to calculate this.
    If an leaving employee has taken too many holidays before they leave, it is important to ensure the leave is negative.
    Furthermore, at the end of the year the employee should be given the option to carry over…

    Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback on the idea here. Being open we don't have any immediate work planned for this.

    However, I also wanted to highlight with differing needs and regulation our payroll products are developed separately for region specifically. We try to keep the ideas regionally separated in community here as it helps when feeding back to the team and also in keeping customers updated.

    That said we have a separate idea for this similar feature in AU Payroll and I've added any voters from AU to that idea to keep updated there.

  18. The real cost of an employee is not shown on the payslip, even though things like Workcover, public liability, Qleave could be shown as percentages based on no of staff over a year. Eg $20k workcover is / staff/weeks of year/hours work this week or $200000 / 16 staff / 52 weeks and 200 hours worked = 0.12c per hour. Same could be shown for Public liability, and any other costs attributable to each staff member.

    Also showing all forms of leave accrued in $$ values as well as hours gives a clearer picture to the staff member how much…

  20. Amend status of timesheet - I accidentally ran a Pay Run without having approved the timesheet. The status of the timesheet then was Approved, and didn't become 'Processed'. An 'Approved' staus meant I couldn't change the calendar setting s etc for the employee. It becasme a challenge to do what was necessary to get the status to 'Processed'.
