UK Payroll - Allocate leave to different pay period
Currently, Xero automatically assigns holiday leave to the pay period in which it falls. However, for businesses with a different pay schedule within the tax periods, (e.g., a financial period running from the 6th to the 5th of the month), such as cut off being the 28th of the previous month and paying on the 5th of the month. this can cause confusion and misalignment in holiday pay processing. Employees may receive their holiday pay in a month that doesn’t align with the leave taken, leaving them out of pocket or causing administrative burdens.
Proposed Solution: Provide an option to…
2 votesWe appreciate you sharing your thoughts on how this would improve your payroll workflow. While this is not something we have plans to develop at this time, we will continue to use your feedback to help us shape the future of Xero Payroll. As noted by others in the idea, one option for now is to continue manually adjusting the leave hours for the correct pay period. We acknowledge this isn't an ideal solution, but it does allow you to correctly apply the leave across pay runs.

AU Payroll - Employee Contact Details to have termination date and reason column
On the Employee Contact Details report it would be great to have a column to show the termination date and reason for termination. Being able to sort by termination date range eg last quarter would be beneficial to assist with preparing the long service leave reports. The termination date and reason needs to be included in the report. Having a summary of the information from Xero would be beneficial for all.
2 votesWe appreciate you reaching out to let us know you'd like to see the termination date and reason in the Employee Contact Details report.

UK payroll - Back date directorship start date
Xero should deal with back dating a directorship
As an accountants it is not unusual to only have a touch point around the year end and the client prepares the payroll. And the addition of new directors can be missed by the staff preparing the payroll.
No HMRC guidance is that you can adjust in the next month if the directorship is in the same payroll year. Xero does not work in this scenario. You need to revert each pay run back to the start if the directorship and re run and submit and if there is a weekly pay…2 votes -
AU Payroll - Filter Leave Balance report by employment status
Has support considered the option to filter the leave balance report by employment status? When generating this report all employees are listed or only an individual employee. Why would we need the current balance of leave for terminated employees? I have some employees who have returned, so both are listed but I don't know which is active until I run the report on each.

AU Payroll - Show pay earnings rate in Pay Template
When using the show earnings rate in the employee template have the amount show that you can verify that it is correct - rather than waiting for it to appear on the payslip.

Xero Accounting app | Bank Reconciliation - Ability to add an expense as 'common expenses'.
"Common Expenses" - fix product flaw.
In Xero app, as follows:
-Purchases
- +
-Add receipt
-Tap:Categorise to an acct
-acct list pops up with heading "Common expenses". 2 accts listed which I rarely use.

I'm just checking in with our team to see if there's any way you can influence the 'Common expense' accounts that are shown. Will round back to confirm with you here.

Xero Expense - Use date of last entry
When entering expense claims, the program should be set to retain the date entered in the last expense claim item. When catching up on accounting, it is cumbersome to be working on July in December and have to go back and change the entire date for each entry. I should be able to retain the last entry date on the next and simply be able to edit the day.
2 votesThanks for sharing your feedback here, David. Appreciate how this could be useful when entering back dated expenses. Have you tried enabling receipt scanning as an option to automate some of this data entry?

NZ Payroll - Ability to mark Payroll taxes as paid
It would be great to be able to mark payroll taxes as paid so I can see immediately if I have missed anything.

NZ Payroll - Invoice for PAYE owed to the IRD
Would be great if, at the end of the month, Xero automatically generated an invoice for PAYE owed to the IRD

UK Payroll - Unscheduled pay run in advance should only stop updates to staff included in the run.
UK Payroll - when an unscheduled pay run has been posted for a period it stops any updates to salaries even when a full payroll hasn't been posted. It makes sense that a full run would stop updates but only people included in an unscheduled pay run should be barred from having updates applied. For instance, with an unscheduled run posted I can't adjust starting dates or salaries for staff, and these may have changed after the unscheduled run was posted.

AU Payroll - Add YTD figures on payslips for recurring reimbursements
Add YTD figures for (recurring) reimbursements on an employee"s Payslip, such as non-reportable travel allowances (paid as reimbursements).
I followed a Xero direction to process non-reportable travel allowances as reimbursements, as it ws creating discrepancies in our BAS (even though include in W1 was not checked).
For an employee not to be able to see their total YTD renumeration on their payslip, including these reimbursements, is disappointing (particularly as it won't show on their EOFY payment summary).

AU Payroll - Paid break times
Ability to enter a PAID Break - This would be particularly helpful in Contruction industry, where most awards provide employees with a paid tea break on OT & Weekend work. This would mean employers will meet their obligations for Start/Finish Times as well as break times.

AU Payroll - Allow leave requests to be submitted using just a keyboard
Make creating leave requests functional when using keyboard entry.
Currently, when I want to create a leave request, I:
- go to the top menu, tab across to Payroll and select (4 keystrokes),
- arrow down to Leave and select (4 keystrokes),
- tab through to New Request and select (15 keystrokes),
and then no matter how much I try I cannot get to select either Leave or Cash Out Leave without using the mouse. Then, once I have used the mouse to get the new leave request pop-up, I have to:
- tab to the employee field (3 keystrokes)…2 votes -
AU Payroll - Be prompt when payslips have already been sent and the ability to record a message for the payslip after payrun as been posted
Whether or not you agree that emailing payslips should be considered by employers as a mandatory procedure once the payrun is logged, there are some basic improvements that should be adopted regardless of your opinion. If payslips have already been sent the the first improvement is to prompt the user that payslips have already been emailed if a user revisits the pay-run options window and clicks on email payslips. If the pay run has already been posted, the second improvement is to still provide access to an individual's payslip to record a message before emailing.

AU Payroll - Make employee groups mandatory
Please give us the option to make Tracking Groups a mandatory selection on the Employee tab before Xero users can save a new employee. This will stop users from setting up new employees & forgetting to assign the Employee Group tracking group which results in misreporting
2 votesHi team, while we appreciate your feedback and why you'd like to make this field mandatory not all businesses use tracking for payroll. We want to be upfront that we don't have any plans for making the employee groups field mandatory.

AU Payroll - No Annual Salary for Casuals on Employee Remuneration
It is better to not to have annual salary for casual employees in their pay sheets and also in the remuneration report in Xero as it is not a reliable figure to have in.

NZ Payroll - Ability to only split payments on salaries
As some employees split payments between multiple bank accounts when they're paid, it would be good to have an option where this only happens when processing a salary payment, not reimbursing expenses. Had one where there were only expense reimbursements done (no salary/PAYE etc.) but the payment was still split and majority went to IRD. Perhaps a checkbox when entering the second bank account in that says "only split on taxed earnings" or something like that to avoid having to go and delete then re-add the additional account every time.

UK Payroll - Exclude employees/directors from pension at any time
Be able to change an employee/director to be excluded from the pension at any time.
At the moment, if a director is not excluded from the pension scheme straight the way, the payroll has to be rolled back to when the director was assessed. This is fine for small payrolls but would be very timely on the larger payrolls.2 votes
