AU Payroll - Set up second auto super authoriser
Having a 2nd person as a Super Authoriser would be helpful when the 1st person goes on leave.
Hey everyone, we appreciate a lot of recent activity and trend in this idea especially with Pay Day Super coming.
As mentioned in my last updated this is an idea our product teams are keeping a close pulse on and we want you to know this is high on our agenda, likely to be picked up later this year.
While we can't provide any commitments as yet, we'll share another update here as soon as there's progress.

I've raised a case with customer support, and they are quite responsive and say all the right things, but despite my multiple suggestions they don't post here. Bizarre. It's like their customer support systems are disjointed and dysfunctional, I guess like the software itself. Bizarrely, customer support pointed me to this post, despite me having already commented and upvoted, and the fact its completely abandoned in terms of Xero representation from Xero.
I get the impression it's now on their list of things to do, hence the mysterious status here of 'accepted', but who knows what are all the various statuses and what order they proceed, how long it takes or what the criteria is for acceptance and progression between steps.
I suggest:
1/ make sure you upvote this
2/ raise a support case to increase the pressure for them to fix this, or at least to get more information on the status, since this clearly isn't a place where updates are posted, despite the copy-and-paste post from Kelly Munro saying "If there is any change to share around this we’ll update you all through this idea." -

I can't believe that this started 3 years ago and there is still no response from Xero. The last response from Xero was 15th July. Very disappointing.

Absolute necessity given the new requirements for super to be processed on payday

Our current authorised user (our client) is away overseas. We (Tax agent) cannot complete lodgement even through she can send the authorisation code via SMS. Lodgement will be further delayed and SGC penalties will increase.
Absolutely critical that there is a backup authorisation feature here. -

Necessary for when the Super Authoriser goes on leave or has an emergency situation

With the implementation of Payday Superannuation processing to begin on 01/07/2026 it would assist if more than 1 person can approve the superannuation. Including accountants or bookkeepers. It should be part of the authorisation level that the Subscriber can control.

This should be a priority as it is clear many users are experiencing issues having only one authoriser. It is unacceptable that super can't be paid when the authoriser is away.
As stated by others in this feed, payday super cannot work with one authoriser.
Would support please give an update on the progress of this and if it will be in effect by July 1st? -

This needs to be a priority for Xero!! It has been hard enough to have only 1 person to authorize and that's without payday super. Please get this sorted ASAP

I requested for this to be done years ago and still nothing has been done. With the changes coming through and if a payroll officers is away (especially if they are overseas) there is no provision for the super to be paid.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH Xero, get your act together and get this sorted our -

Judging by the votes and the comments below, I too agree this change is absolutely a must and a priority for XERO!

This is absolutely critical, especially with super changing to be paid on payday! Not being able to have multiple approvers will really slow the process down and cause major issues!
Unless Xero is looking at an alternative to process and authorise super than the current option. I don't really see this as an optional feature but an absolute MUST. -

Cut and paste responses, with empty words.
I feel like I would be more likely to get a reply from a letter to Santa at this point...

This is honestly ridiculous that Xero are providing generic responses that give us no confidence that this will be sorted by the weekly super deadline. I work for a family business and if i were to pass away suddenly the owner would not only be grieving his daughter but he would be trying to work out a way to log onto my Xero account in order to transfer the authorisation to another staff member to avoid getting a fine. This is simply not good enough

Hi Xero
can someone please respond as to what you are doing about this? I'm sure you will be addressing it before July 1st.
Getting a bit fed up with all the notifications.
thanks in advance. -

OK, my CS response was:
"I appreciate your request for additional superannuation authorisers in Xero Payroll. I understand how this feature would be beneficial, especially with the upcoming changes to Australian 'payday super' and for businesses with multiple approvers or dual signatory requirements.
Currently, Xero Payroll only allows for a single authoriser for superannuation payments. However, I want to assure you that our product team is aware of this limitation and has noted the request from customers like yourself for multiple authorisers.
The ability to configure multiple approvers. is something our team is considering for future updates to Payroll. We're always looking for ways to improve our product and make it more flexible for businesses of all sizes.
While I can't provide a specific timeline for when this feature might be implemented, please know that your feedback is valuable and helps shape the future of Xero Payroll. I've linked the request from Xero Product Ideas which is our forum for customers to request and support change to the product team below."
which confirms there is currently not even a plan to start implementing this, let alone a timeframe.
We need more squeaky wheels

"Xero response to my support request ..."
I raised a support request just now.
Lets see how many of us get the same cut-and-paste middle finger.
