Xero Me | Timesheets - Ability to choose different earnings rate when using start and end times
Before we had start/stop times, employees were able to add different pay rates (ie Saturday Penalty Rate). It would be excellent if this option could be included with the start/stop time version in Xero Me.
117 votesHi everyone, thanks for getting behind this idea and sharing the need for employees to add multiple earnings rates to Start and End timesheets.
Your examples demonstrate how different earnings rates in a single timesheet would save time and improve payroll accuracy for industries with varied awards.
We understand many of you are currently editing timesheets after employees submit them, which adds extra steps.
The good news is that idea is now in discovery. Our product team is currently reviewing the viability of this idea and exploring what a solution could look like.
We will post an update here as soon as we have more news.

Xero Me - Clock in and clock out on timesheets
Xero Me - Needs spot in App to input the Earnings Rate and Tracking Category for the employee. Needs a start/stop button for clocking in/out so that when the employee starts the day they simply press start and the app records the time started. When they press stop it records the stop time until the start time is pressed again. This can be used for breaks and for start and finish of the day - these can be edited if someone forgets. AU Payroll - Provisions for Annual and Long Service Leave
We need to know how much to provide for on the balance sheet for annual leave and long service leave each month and track these for our financial statements. All the information is available via Xero payroll (leave balances and pay rates for each employee as well as leave accrued and leave taken) but in order to account for this correctly we are expected to export reports and do the calculations ourselves. And we need to maintain external files to reconcile this to each month.

Currently Xero does not automatically include leave liabilities on the Balance Sheet. Some of you have mentioned workarounds such as reviewing the Leave Balances Report and creating Manual Journals to include the liability in your reporting.
While we’re dedicated to streamlining payroll calculations, our product team confirmed this specific idea isn't on our foreseeable roadmap. We’ll be updating the status to Not in pipeline. The idea will remain open for votes so we can continue to monitor community interest.

UK Payroll - Stop access to payslips until the date of the pay run
In Xero payroll, when pay runs are posted before the pay date there needs to be a delay in the employees accessing payslips

AU Payroll - Leave requests for part time workers that dont work standard hours
When multiple days are requested the ability to adjust the hours for leave application so it matches the ordinary hours for particularly days.

We understand the value of shifting the task of adjusting hours to employees, freeing up payroll administrators’ time for other priorities and we also appreciate the points raised around accuracy and compliance.
While we don’t have current plans to deliver exactly what’s been suggested here, our product team is continuing to focus on developing working patterns within AU Payroll. Based on what we’ve seen in other regions, this'll likely address many of the needs discussed here.
We’ll move this idea to Not in pipeline for now, but we’ll keep you posted on any updates that could help achieve what’s being asked.

AU Payroll - Include PAYG payment in Payroll batch files
I look after a business that has been advised by the ATO that their PAYG has cycle has changed & they must remit the PAYG tax to ATO within 7 days of each payrun. This means we currently have to make a manual payment for PAYG to the ATO each week, more if there there happens to be an extra pay run for some reason. Payroll software we use for other clients in the same sitiatuon has the functionality to include the PAYG payment with the ABA file for the payrun, which means everyting is automated. UK Payroll: Send P45s direct from Xero
At the moment, we can only download the P45 and then email to employees by different software. It would be better if we can just email the P45 directly to employees from Xero.

It’s not currently possible to send P45’s directly from Xero. Our product team is actively exploring ways to enhance employee self-service features. While specific plans for this feature are not yet finalised for the immediate roadmap, this area remains a key focus for future development. We've moved this idea to Accepted.
We'll keep you posted if anything changes. In the meantime, you can download P45s from Xero and send them via your usual email software.

Can the Annual Leave Cash Up leave type please be automated to roll into Annual Leave once the payrun is posted. It would be a great time saver.

Reports - Option to use pay periods dates rather than payment date
I would prefer that the dates displayed on the Payroll Activity Details & the Payroll Employee Summary reports are the beginning and of the pay period.

AU Payroll - Next employee button on employment information screen
Currently we can search employee's data by using the dropdown arrow and selecting a specific employee. Can we also have the option for an arrow which allows us to simply scroll through each employee's record rather than having to use the dropdown option each time

It would be great to be able to stream leave approvals by team so only a team leader gets to see/approve their own team rather than everyone's leave applications

UK Payroll: Pay apprenticeship levy through Xero
I have a client that needs to apply the Apprenticeship levy and this is not available on Xero Payroll as this is normally a function for large companies and not small companies that Xero are focusing on. This is a small company, but do form part of a large UK group therefore are sucked into reporting this to HMRC. Can this function be integrated into Xero payroll to be switched on when needed? UK Payroll - Option to backdate SMP after a pay increase
Allow users to change weekly SMP amount after a payrise to allow simple updates to extra SMP owing without having to delete all previous payruns back to the maternity leave start date.

AU Payroll | Superannuation - Set up auto payment with a credit card
Have automatic superannuation payments be able to be paid via credit card, through xero. Currently there seems to only be the ability to make automatic payment via direct debit but it would be good if it could be made by a credit card.

We've looked into the possibility of introducing this feature. However, Australian regulations currently do not support credit cards as a payment method for Superannuation. Until these regulations change we’re unable to develop this feature.
For this reason we’ll be changing the status of this idea to Not in pipeline. We’ll continue to monitor regulations in this area and will revisit this idea if the situation changes. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

AU Payroll - Add expire date for Time Off in Lieu
According to different awards Time off in Lieu is suppose to expire in 6 months time if not used. Currently you can only bank and take Time off in Lieu. It would be great if Xero could automatically expire hours not used as this is a common practice in many employee Awards.

AU Payroll - Attach files to leave requests

When people put in a personal leave form, can you please add an attachment button, so that a medical certificate can be added.

We're currently exploring ideas to attach files to employee records, however our product team confirmed that attaching files directly into leave requests is not something we're focusing on at the time. We’ve moved this idea to Not in pipeline.
We know this isn't the update you were hoping for, but we want to be transparent about where things stand. The idea remains open for votes, so we'll continue monitoring community interest and feedback as we plan for the future.

Organisation Settings - Allow seperate branch codes for STP and TPAR
Xero provides for only one ATO Branch code to be recorded for an organisation in Settings / Organisation details. Also, Xero does not require a branch code to be recorded for Single Touch Payroll (STP) which would be resulting in a number of cases where the ATO is contacting clients and practitioners regarding incorrect branch codes for STP and requiring correction of STP filings which is time consuming and complex.
Some businesses have different branch codes for different ATO reporting obligations. For example, a business may have a branch number of 001 for Single Touch Payroll but 003 for Taxable…

UK Payroll - Remove past employees from reports
Can you please give the option to inactivate past employees/leavers from payroll summary when doing reports. Every employee we have ever had is coming up on the report each time.
Also how do I set up overtime payments to stay on employee profile instead of using the drop down menu every week.
