    Hey everyone, we thank you for the detailed feedback on improving how leave requests work for part-time employees in Australian payroll. 

    We understand the value of shifting the task of adjusting hours to employees, freeing up payroll administrators’ time for other priorities and we also appreciate the points raised around accuracy and compliance.

    While we don’t have current plans to deliver exactly what’s been suggested here, our product team is continuing to focus on developing working patterns within AU Payroll. Based on what we’ve seen in other regions, this'll likely address many of the needs discussed here.

    We’ll move this idea to Not in pipeline for now, but we’ll keep you posted on any updates that could help achieve what’s being asked.

  2. Could we have the ability to update timesheets each payrun from and excel spreadsheet.
    This is so that admin staff can data enter timesheet information without necessarily having access to the payroll system. This is also in the case of Company's who do not want the Xero Me function.

    Hi everyone, thanks for all of your support on this idea.

    We've been following your comments and recognise that having a streamlined way to get timesheets from a spreadsheet into Xero Payroll would be a huge time saver.

    As noted by others in this thread, one option is to explore some of the connected time-tracking apps in the Xero App Store. While we know this isn't a perfect substitute for a direct import feature, it may help bridge the gap in the meantime.

    The good news is that we see the value this feature would provide and we want to explore it further. We'll change the status of this idea to Accepted.

  3. 2 TOIL options, TOIL accrued & TOIL Accrued in place of Overtime

    We are unable to mark a Time in Lieu Leave pay item as exempt from accruing SGC, which is not how the ATO classifies SGC for TOIL.

    We suggest having 2 TOIL categories, so that there is the option for a TOIL where SGC is required to be paid and one wit SGC exempt:- when super is accrued on overtime.

    Just a quick update on this XPI. While it's not possible to adjust the TOIL leave pay item to mark it as exempt from SGC as suggested, we can suggest an alternative approach that may assist.

    If you use the Cashed Out option when raising a leave request for TOIL, it will be reported as Overtime and SGC not accrue on the leave taken.

    Let us know if there are any circumstances where this approach wouldn't be suitable for your situation.

  4. Have automatic superannuation payments be able to be paid via credit card, through xero. Currently there seems to only be the ability to make automatic payment via direct debit but it would be good if it could be made by a credit card.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate and understand the desire to use a credit card for Auto Super payments.

    We've looked into the possibility of introducing this feature. However, Australian regulations currently do not support credit cards as a payment method for Superannuation. Until these regulations change we’re unable to develop this feature.

    For this reason we’ll be changing the status of this idea to Not in pipeline. We’ll continue to monitor regulations in this area and will revisit this idea if the situation changes. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

  5. To allow the payroll team to run reports to runs checks on the payroll before submitting the payroll. This would avoid sending numerous automatic FPS reports to HMRC.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback. We appreciate you explaining how important access to reports on draft pay runs is for your workflows, especially for client approvals and pre-submission checks.

    Our product team is currently looking into payroll reporting improvements as part of a wider review, however adding additional reports to draft pay runs is not something that’s on their foreseeable roadmap.

    Currently you can download payslips, P32 and Payroll Activity Details/Summary reports from draft pay runs. These provide a breakdown of employee earnings and employer liabilities, which can be used for pre-checks before submitting your pay run to HMRC.

    Please continue to support other ideas, as this helps our product teams know what's important to you.

  6. It would be really helpful if there was a report that showed the actual amount of hours worked per month per individual and as a total. Our company has busy seasons, as well as quiet seasons and having a report like this would help us in planning our staffing situation.

    Hi everyone, thanks for the feedback. We recognise that a timesheet summary report would be a valuable addition to NZ Payroll.

    This idea has been moved to our Accepted for future consideration.

    While it isn’t currently on our roadmap, we’ll check back in here if that status changes.

  7. Many are complaining about no VAT option on mileage claims through expenses. I can see why this would be timely to implicate as the fuel element changes and is different depending on fuel type and engine size.

    But think for those that want to, we should at least have a VAT drop down. We could then create a new tax rate for each rate or even employee using expenses.

    For example I have a director with a vehicle >2000cc Diesel I believe using the HMRC company car fuel rates this equates to 19p inclusive of VAT. Using the 45p for…

    Hi everyone, thanks for your continued engagement with this idea. We know this has been a topic of conversation for a while, and we want you to know we've been listening about the challenges of claiming VAT on mileage in Xero Expenses.

    We appreciate everyone who's shared their workarounds, like splitting the mileage claim into two separate lines. While we know this isn't an ideal solution, it's great to see how you're helping each other out here.

    Your input is invaluable as we continue to evaluate the best way to address this. While we can't provide a specific timeline for a fix, please know that monitoring this is a priority for us. We'll be sure to keep you updated on any progress.

  8. We would definately want to see the hourly rate and hours for overtime for staff on annual salaries.
    At the moment the overtime hours are printed but not the rate of pay for the overtime.

  9. Xero provides for only one ATO Branch code to be recorded for an organisation in Settings / Organisation details. Also, Xero does not require a branch code to be recorded for Single Touch Payroll (STP) which would be resulting in a number of cases where the ATO is contacting clients and practitioners regarding incorrect branch codes for STP and requiring correction of STP filings which is time consuming and complex.

    Some businesses have different branch codes for different ATO reporting obligations. For example, a business may have a branch number of 001 for Single Touch Payroll but 003 for Taxable…

    Not getting a lot of support from other members we’ll soon remove this from Product ideas. If it’s still highly valuable to you, welcome to start it again and see if it gets renewed interest.

  10. Enable full data import from external data source (say CSV) for all emplolyee data not just basic data. That would allow organisations with more staff to easily migrate to XERO without having to manually re-enter significant volumes of data.

    Hey team, we appreciate wanting to upload more employee details when setting them up. While we have recently released an updated process to bulk uploading employees, we want to be upfront that this only allows the bulk upload of basic fields such as names, dates of birth and addresses.

    This may be something we consider longer term and we would like to continue to track interest through the idea here.

  11. When running employee leave transaction reports, it would be good for this report to also include employee unpaid leave, as presently this option is not available. The only way to run an unpaid leave report is to run a leave request report, export and edit as required. We have to submit reports to the ADMS for our apprentice claims, and a report including all leave is required.

    We really value the contributions and support this idea has received from the community here - Thanks everyone. 

    While we've evaluated and fully get why you'd like more visibility of your employees unpaid leave, we want to be transparent that atm leave reporting isn't in the roadmap for the near term. You can see some of the recent development for the AU Payroll space on The Long and Short Of It.  

    For the time being you could add a few filters within the Leave Requests report, and then export to a spreadsheet to gather the unpaid leave data you need.

    We know this will be disappointing news, but we really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Though we have updated the status to Not in pipeline members can continue to add votes here and we'll keep tracking the trend for future considerations. Thanks 

  12. Under the employees deductions sections during payroll, if one has salary sacrifice, child support, and any other deductions, you have to process the pay run initially. And then you would have to manually do a separate payment to a payee

    Is it possible to have a payee that can be linked to the payroll deductions. Meaning when you run your payroll, the deductions will go against the payee and when the payroll aba file is created, the payee will be included in that aba file

    Alternatively create a deduction for payroll that can be linked to a bank account. Currently…

    Hi everyone, thanks for all your feedback. We understand how important customisable payroll access is for many of our customers to effectively run their business. As you may have seen in other parts of Xero (like inventory & reporting) we’re beginning to develop more granular controls for permissions in some areas.

    While we’ll continue to consider how we develop access to other features across Xero, we want to be upfront here that we don’t have any plans for providing the ability to disable access to timesheets or leave through the Xero Me app.

    With this in mind, we’ll move this idea to Not in pipeline. You’ll see there are other ideas surrounding Payroll permissions that may solve for what you’d be after in this idea, and I’d recommend adding your vote to those so we can share if there’s any progress toward that functionality as we keep developing.

    Hi everyone, we recognise that a more customisable payslip would provide greater clarity for your employees, better reflect your brand, and save you valuable time.

    This isn’t in our immediate roadmap, however we get the benefit this would bring, and it’s on our radar for potential future development. Our product team will consider this idea as they do further roadmap planning.

  15. The report should be able to generate Employee Name (First & Last in separate columns), DOB, TFN, Bank Details provided, Super Funds & Address.

    We need various information like from time to time for reporting purposes but we cannot get it without having to click in to every single employees - which is hectic

    Thank you all for sharing your feedback on how important consolidated employee details are for your businesses.

    In November 2023, we released updated payroll reports which allow greater flexibility, however we understand this doesn't fully meet your needs

    While employee’s date of birth and account details are accessible from two separate reports, due to the sensitive nature of TFNs, there’s no plans to include these in exportable reports.

    While we truly appreciate your feedback and support in this idea, we want to be upfront that we don’t have intentions of combining all the data requested here into a single report that can be exported from Xero Payroll.

    Hey team, me again. Apologies, getting a little ahead of ourselves with the status of this idea.

    I can confirm that self onboarding of new employees is live for Xero Payroll in AU, however this feature does not extend to NZ organisations right now.

    This will be something we continue to consider as we keep developing Payroll for NZ and I'll share any further updates with you all here. Thanks


  17. Would love for Xero Expense Admin to be able to see Expense Reports listing the Labels, and being filtered/grouped by Labels.

    For background, Xero Expense allows employees to put a Label. The Labels can even be pre-set in the organization's settings. But the Xero Expense Admin's don't have a way to report on on expense claims by Labels.

    Reporting based on Labels would allow users to tag Xero Expenses for projects for instance.

    Hello everyone, thanks for your engagement and feedback regarding using labels in Xero Expenses.

    We are currently reviewing all of our product ideas as part of a wider project to streamline the status of our community support on Xero Product Ideas and wanted to provide you with an update about this idea.

    After reviewing this idea and our product roadmap, this feature isn't currently on our immediate plans as our development teams are focused on other core improvements across the Xero platform.

    The status has now been updated to Not In Pipeline. Our product team will continue to monitor this idea and we’ll let you know if anything changes.

  18. Ability to import the number of days of annual leave/other leave taken per employee for the month. It is very time consuming to manually add the leave taken for each employee when completing the payroll each month.

  19. I would like the payroll reports to be able to be sorted by first name or last name. I sue them for a number of reporting requirements with third parties and it would make it so much easier if I was able to do this.

    Hey everyone! It's been insightful reading through your comments on filtering payroll reports by both first and last name.

    Our product team have reviewed this idea and agree it's an idea they would like to develop, but it isn't currently on the roadmap.

    In the meantime, as mentioned by some of you you'll need to export the data to work with outside of Xero. We understand this may be an extra step and appreciate this feature could improve efficiency for a variety of situations.

    We'll keep you updated as things progress. Your continued input helps us understand the priority and impact of features like this one.

    Hey team, we’re grateful for all of the engagement this idea has received. We understand that adding start and end times to timesheets would greatly improve payroll accuracy and record-keeping.

    As noted by many of you, this feature is available in the AU version of Payroll, but there is no direct workaround for this in UK Payroll.

    I'm pleased to let you know we're moving this idea to In discovery, which means our product team is reviewing the viability of this feature. This is an important step as we explore what it would take to bring this functionality to UK Payroll.
