Files - Bulk export/print attached files
Ability to export and print files from Xero in bulk.
Purpose: To have backup files and audit purposes.
Thank community, we appreciate all your involvement on this idea. We understand the ability to bulk export or print attached files would be a huge time-saver, especially for year-end audits, client communication, and general record-keeping.
We’ve evaluated the complexity of this feature against other priorities on our roadmap. Atm, this isn't in our plans however we'd like to explore bulk downloading of files from Xero in the longer term. I'll share an update when we're able to give more attention to this, here.
For the meantime if this is essential for you right now, you may like to explore third-party integrations through our Xero app store which could meet your needs here.

This is a major flaw in the software provision. It is critical!!
This is so critical that following
my call/email to xero many months back I immediately and totally stopped uploading documents. I now save them to a completely different folder for later use.Summary … the existence of this issue is ridiculous. Sort it out please Xero, and fast!

It's critical to have a backup of all the documents that have been uploaded to Xero as support. It's needed as a backup of accounting supporting documentation, and also for audit purposes. It's not realistic to expect companies to be downloading documents one by one for that purpose. It would be extremely time consuming and costly. Please implement this feature! Or allow users to request to the support team for specific time periods. Some other platforms provide downloads for a small fee.

Having this ability would streamline our processes considerably when it comes to fulfilling our responsibility to maintain back up copies. It looks to me to be a fairly easy coding fix and I am hugely disappointed that Xero don't seem to consider it. I have inherited this installation and on this point alone will not recommend it to any-one else and may consider moving away from Xero in the longer term.

I would live to have this implemented. I have been adding the supplier invoices to Xero for years, but i would like to back up all the uploaded invoices. At the moment, it would take a long time to download each document one-by-one.
Please consider this to be the next 'in progress' idea. Pllleeeeeease

Further to my previous comment... due to the lack of this critical feature, I have just cancelled two Xero subscriptions

In this age of ransomware attacks and digital accounting I think it is appalling that Xero haven't got the functionality to export or externally back up your receipts and invoices when attaching this information is one of their major selling points.
While I appreciate I can manually download lists of bills and invoices - it is crucial to have the receipt/invoices to go with it. This is the evidence if there are any issues.
This is a massive negative and it is crucial this is addressed though I am not holding my breath as judging by the comments of other users it is one that Xero has ignored year after year.

would be great when XERO can adapt this function!
Files - Bulk export/print attached files
And I agree - to others here - it is a critical function!
Thx, Agnes -

The value of having files attached to transactions is severely diminished if we cannot have an easier way to download what is needed at the time of audit. The effort to download at the transaction level is a costly option.
As others have commented, this is a critical function.

The request has been there since 2013 November. It really is astonishing that after nearly 9 years nothing has still been done on this work.
XERO really needs to get their act together for this.
Or atleast remove the attachment option entirely, so nobody then relies on it atall.

Vital to give to accountants for backup/audit services. Bizarre that this isn’t an option and would have dissuaded me from using Xero if I had known it was not available beforehand.

Needed for when a business ceases trading but needs to keep the info for tax purposes

I can't believe this cannot be done. Attachments are the digital versions of the paper receipts, and used instead of them. The download of the attachments should be a fundamental option as digital records are needed to be kept for 7 years. Come on Xero, sort it out.

After many years, I need to have a clear-out and delete loads of unused accounts etc. The only way to do this is apparantly to create a new subscription.and transfer the data I need. But now I discover that I can't transfer the attachments. This is a problem. Xero should explain this to new users, and recommend that files are stored outside Xero. Even better, Xero should offer the possibility to include links to items in external storage.

It's disappointing Xero does not provide bulk export of the general ledger with all attachments.

This is needed urgently. Its required for audit purposes, document retention, and document retention in the event that you no longer require Xero access. We need the ability to easily bulk export all data and attachments that have been inputted into Xero.

This is critical for us. We are ending our Xero subscription until there are improvements in adding receipts to transactions, and exporting receipts.
There are too many mouse clicks involved across all of Xero - what is a drag and drop, or simple function in a phone app, takes far longer in Xero.

Trying to lock users into your system by not offering these types of features, is exactly the thing that will drive customers away.

If Xero is not prepared to offer a basic function such as downloading MY data in a simple way then I will need to look for an alternative accouniting solution.
