Be able to edit the layout for printing Activity Statements for all users and all clients, similar to how you can customise the print settings for Income Tax Returns (ITRs). We'd like to have a cover letter always included and remove the Substantiation documents by default.

Reports - Ability to create custom Budget report and send via email
The ability to create multiple custom budget reports which show budgets and transactions which can easily be emailed out to colleagues at the same time. This is useful if a Xero user has multiple budget holders to report to. This should be able to be emailed as both PDF and Excel.

NZ GST - Add Publish Function to new style GST report
Hi
I would like to request that we keep the publish button on the new GST layout. The new GST Return layout does not have the Publish to Reports function (this has been removed). The Publish Function is an important function for clients, bookkeepers and auditors to access all relevant publish reports in one place.188 votesHi team, thanks for continuing to share and support in this idea.
While our team has continued to consider this idea since our last update, being upfront with you all here we want to share that this isn't in our current roadmap and unlikely to be developed in the near term.
For this reason, we'll move this to Not in pipeline however should anything change this we'll certainly share an update with you all here.

calculate vat liability in cash flow manager
It would be good if Xero could use vat charged on invoices and spent on bills to calculate what the predicted VAT is for that quarter and add it into cash flow manager - rather than this needing to be added manually

Total Rows should always total the lines above it, even if the lines above it are calculatued using a formula
If I have a report and a column is a formula.
When I export that report to excel, the column has the underlying formula in each cell.
The column even has that formula in a cell that is in a total row. This is okay if the formula is a percentage, but never if the formula is an amount.
A total row with an amount should always be the total of the cells above it. Never any other formula.
Other column types (such as date), do not suffer this issue, they will correctly insert a formula that sums the cells…

MTD for ITSA quarterly Report adjustment
Currently the MTD reports display the transactions year to date (which is actually what's being filed) but as the year progresses, the volume of transactions will grow and the same transactions will be reviewed repeatedly. It would be better if the MTD quarterly reports show the transactions of that quarter plus any new or adjusted transactions from previous quarters. This could be done by tagging each transaction with either submitted/not submitted on a previous return.

Reports - Show account codes in a different column from Account Name
Need to seperate the Account Code & Account Description/Name into different columns on reports
1 voteHi Ian, thanks for bringing our attention to this. We can see how having account codes displayed in their own column, rather than combined with the account name, could make reporting easier to read and work with.
At the moment, account codes and names are shown together when the option is enabled in reports, and can be split manually after export if needed for further analysis.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are particular reports or workflows where separate columns would be most useful, we'd love to hear more about them.

Reporting - Switch between detail/summary Aged Payables/Receivables report
Instead of having 2 separate reports for Aged Payables and Receivables, there should just be one report for each, and a drop down/toggle to switch between the detailed report and the summary report. Not the biggest deal, but would make things a lot more fluid and easier. Could be replicated across other reports too to simplify the process, and make the "reports" section much tidier and easier to navigate.
5 votesThanks for sharing your idea for a dropdown to switch between the detailed and summary versions of the Aged reports.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.
In the meantime, did you know that you will find the detail/summary version of the report listed in the Related reports section of the left hand panel when running a report?

Navigation - Practice Setting to set default for Favourite reports
Can the list of favourite reports be set to default to always include the Trial balance (at least with Advisor rights). As an accountant I always run a Trial balance report and have to manually set this as a favourite on every client I log into. I also regularly use the accountant transaction report and Aged payables and receivables which are already default favourites.
11 votesThanks for sharing on the new navigation with us here, Shirley. We'd like to get a sense of the interest in this from the community here and will keep a close eye on the traction.
If there are any updates we'll share with you here.

Reporting: Aged Receivables - Add NZBN number
I would like to produce an Aged Receivable custom report that includes the NZBN number which is held in a contact file. While I can manually pull two reports and manipulate them in Excel, there is always room for error doing it this way.
3 votesThanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how including NZBN numbers in the Aged Receivables report could streamline your workflow.

AU Tax - Integrate live ATO client account balances to generate a consolidated 'Total ATO Debt' report
The ATO are pushing hard to collect debt, and as Accountants we want to keep a finger on the pulse of amounts owing to the ATO for our clients.
At this point in time, i am not aware of a report we can generate through the ATO portal which tells us ALL the debt which is owed by our clients, across all their accounts, Tax, GST, Super etc.
Yes there is an integrated debt report we can run, but it only shows the ICA debt. By accident if someone has an ICA debt and a tax debt both will appear…
1 voteHi Richard, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand how having a report that shows a client's total ATO debt in one place could make it easier for practices to monitor outstanding tax obligations and prepare for client conversations.
We'll keep on monitoring the interest on this idea. If this is something you'd like to see, please keep voting and let us know what information you'd like to be included in this report.

Cashflow Manager - Ability to edit outflow date for recurring transactions
In Cash Flow Manager (Reporting / Cash Flow Manager), once a Projected Recurring Cash In/Out amount has been entered, you cannot edit the date that it is received/paid in the cash flow.
You can edit the start- and end-date for recurrence, but the date it is received/paid is locked to the date set when you first added the Projected Recurring Cash In/Out amount.
Please allow the date that the amount is received/paid to be edited.

Reports - Add a dedicated QBCC Annual Financial Reporting package for Queensland construction licensees
A specific App or button for trades and construction businesses to use to produce the reports needed by the QBCC annually to be compliant and maintain their trade licenses. Annual compliance and reporting to QBCC for construction businesses is a complex procedure, but I am sure everything they ask us to produce is available in Xero. If Xero could create an easy method to provide this information at the click of a button, it would save a lot of time and money at the accountant's office. When you are not a numbers person but a tradie, the compulsory annual reporting…

Reports - Trial Balance with OPENING / CLOSING balance and and Movement from GL Summary Report
Team Xero
currently TB report shows ending balances for current year in db/cr two columns AND in single column Clubbed up remaining balances +/- in when COMPANRED to previous periods.I propose/request IT to make TB more classic by
- showing ALL remaining balances in two columns DB/CR when comparing previous years
- OPENING and CLOSING balances columns to be available (year selected from starting of fiscal year Jan20xx)
- TB report to ALLOW us to SELECT RANGE of dates (Range based TB)
- MOVEMENT (total Debits Total Credits) for the selected DATE and/OR RANGE should be available. CURRENTLY this is available in GL…
22 votesHi Yaseen, thank you for this incredibly detailed and well-thought-out suggestion for the Trial Balance report.
We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.
Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.

UK Tax - Overseas company accounts and corporation tax return
We deal with Overseas companies and subsidiaries, Xero does not have recognise Overseas company number usually starts with FC123456, Xero does no recognise this and create corporation tax return. This is another deficiency of Xero which makes me look at other software.

US sales tax on purchases
If I record sales tax paid on purchases in the US, Xero reports that as a negative liability on the balance sheet. It should either be reported on the P&L or the line item it applies to should be grossed up on the P&L.
1 voteHi Camille, thanks for sharing this idea and the context behind it.
We can see how having a dedicated way to track US sales tax on purchases could make it easier to manage reporting, reconcile costs, and maintain visibility of tax paid to suppliers.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support, so if this is something you'd like to see in Xero, please keep on voting and sharing how this would support your workflow.

Personal Tax (UK) | Repayments to be shown separately
Tax repayments on UK Tax Returns are automatically offset against the January payment on account, even when it's requested to be sent by cheque or bank transfer. There should be the option for this to be shown separately on the calculation as it will confuse clients when they want to know what is due for payment in January.

Personal Tax (UK) | Update help box on shareholding %
UK Self-Assessment Tax Return - reporting dividend information.
On the 2025/26 self-assessment tax return in the section for employment, if the company is a close company further details need to be added such as whether any dividends were paid during the year and the shareholder's % ownership in the company.
I note that the help box relating to percentage shareholding of close company refers to "if no dividends were received, enter 0". This doesn't reflect what this section refers to i.e., percentage shareholding. So the help box needs updating.
1 voteHi Simon 😊 Thanks so much for taking the time to share this and for explaining the issue so clearly. We can see why this is confusing — the help text on the percentage shareholding field refers to dividends, when that field is actually asking for shareholding information.
We appreciate clear guidance is especially important in this area, so we’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can keep tracking interest and feedback while this is reviewed further. Thanks again for raising it and helping us improve the experience.
