Manual Journals - Ability to change column order
The new menu format does not make logical sense. You now have to scroll to see any details and in long journal postings scroll down the page due to unnecessary spacing and you cant resize the columns? In addition, why are the totals for the debit and credit columns not underneath the columns?
Logically, it would make sense to have the description first, followed by account, debit, credit to enable easy review. The new layout appears to be more confusing than anything else. If we can re arrange the rows, can we also re arrange the columns?
The previous format made it a lot easier to tab through the journal to add entries but this new format is a lot more time consuming.
Hi team, just adding an update here as it's best if each idea is separated so we can get a clear gauge of interest in a change - I've created a new idea from this one about the debit & credit request, and have slightly adjust the title here to reflect the desire to change the column ordering.
We'll update if there is any change planned for either of these ideas respectively. Thanks

Maybe this is just me, but I preferred having 'Description' first, followed by Account/Debit/Credit etc. when creating or reviewing a journal. If the new layout must be the default going forward, at least give us the option to rearrange columns as we can for Reports.

I would also add it isn't necessary for the 'New Manual Journal entry' to occupy the entire page. Frankly, it's annoying. It was more helpful to retain the navigation pane/tabs at the top of the page for easier navigation.

Jonathan - this is a pretty easy fix for a web developer, see my July 9 comments and screenshot here: https://productideas.xero.com/forums/967133-reports-tax/suggestions/50964163-manual-journals-journal-entry-number-listed#comments
The deeper issue is why this system doesn't index descriptions for lines in manual journals ... this would make 'search' the best option and lead to shorter titles.
here's hoping Xero cares enough to do either, or BOTH!

Absolute disaster, having to scroll sideways to see further information, need in a one-screen view!!!
