  1. Budget manager currently only allows you to include actuals for 3m, 6m and 12m. Most businesses do quarterly forecasts and hence also need 9m....why isn't this included as a default option ?? It should be...please !

We’ve seen your feedback on Budget Manager—thanks for sharing it. A 9-month actuals option could support quarterly forecasting.

This idea has been moved to Gaining support, so the community can vote and comment. If this would help your team too, sharing how you’d use it can give the product team more context and help the idea gain traction.

We’ll let you know when this progressed.

  2. One thing I really like in the new Organisation menu is the search bar. When you click the organisation name, the cursor automatically lands in the search field, so you can start typing straight away. It makes switching between orgs quick and seamless.

It’d be great to see this same experience in the new Reporting menu. Favouriting reports is useful, but it doesn’t cover every scenario. For power users, being able to click into the Reporting menu and have the cursor automatically placed in a search field - just like in the Organisation menu - would make it much faster…

  3. Some fixed assets have certain business use percentage. And this would be very much helpful for reporting purposes especially in the financial statements attaching the fixed asset recon report showing the business use percentage

Hi Krizza, we understand how having a Business Use Percentage column available in the Fixed Asset Report would make it easier to review and present asset information, particularly for assets with both private and business use.

While Xero currently applies the business use calculation in the background, having the percentage visible directly in the report would help reduce the need to check individual asset records.

We’ve updated the status to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest and share the feedback with our product team.

  4. Xero has tracking categories for Profit & Loss reporting.
Our single entity charity uses tracking categories to produce a profit and loss report by fund where the fund type is an option within a fund category.
We need the same for the balance sheet to produce a balance sheet report by fund on an ongoing basis.
For example, income and expenditure transactions on a bank account can be tracked, but not the bank account balance itself. Ditto for liability accounts etc.
This would also need a tracking option/field on manual journals.

  5. For journals received from a plug in like Simplepay or Payspace etc and where those journals have lines that are mixed or not in alphabetical order, be able to click on the "Description" and it sorts it automatically to alphabetical order in ascending or descending order. Same can be done for amount in the debit and credit fields or account.

  7. For future reference, I would like to share the solution we received, as it was much simpler than the long winded process that had been suggested by Xero support

Following the change to our payroll Branch ID, it is correct that employees will see two income statements in their ATO/myGov account after STP finalisation. However, the important distinction is that the two income statements have different statuses—one is marked "Tax Ready" and the other is marked "Not Tax Ready."

Based on the advice from our tax agent, employees should use only the income statement marked "Tax Ready" for their tax…

  9. Custom Reports Formatting & Formulas

1 - more options like spacers (not just page breaks), lines, section dividers
2 - text box more flexible = between lines, not just at the beggining and end of the whole reports
3 - allow formulas to display text results (if statements), not just numbers

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback here. We understand why having more flexibility in custom report layouts and formulas could help create more tailored reporting outputs.

The idea is to provide additional formatting options and expanded formula capabilities, allowing users to build reports that better align with their reporting needs.

We’ll continue tracking engagement and feedback from the community here.

  10. Have the ability to have separate reports for codes and prices for Billing items that is under Purchases and not lumped in with the Sales codes.

Not enough filter flexibilty within to see only those that you require to look at or amend without getting everything.

Not all purchases for bills are sales items for invoicing

Hi 👋 we are looking at the Idea but we will need more information so we can review this. If you can confirm the process and exactly what you are reporting and what you would like to see. Once we have further details we will complete the review of the Idea.

  11. For Company Accounts - the directors feed from Companies House and include the resignation date in the Company Information section of the accounts. However, the final report doesn't include the resignation date against the director. Whilst, there is obviously a work around to include the date as if it's part of the directors name, it relies on manual intervention and given the information is already there, it seems odd that it isn't automatic.

Thanks for taking the time to share this idea — we can see why this would be helpful.

We've now moved this idea to Gaining Support 🌟. This means we've recognised it as a valid feature request and we're now gathering feedback from customers to help us understand the level of demand and the impact it’s having.

We agree it would make sense for the resignation date to flow through automatically into the final report when that information is already available in the Company Information section.

At the moment, this isn’t done automatically, so the current workaround is to manually include the resignation date in the director details where needed for presentation in the final accounts.

If this is something you'd like to see improved, please add your vote and any extra detail about how it affects your workflow. That helps our product team better understand the demand and the use case.

  12. Bank Reconciliation - With Separate Debit and Credit columns with their totals
Currently both DR and CR amounts show in one column. Would love to see them in their own columns when reporting.

Also, a larger description/reference area would be great.

Hi Sousana, thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. You may share it with your friends and colleagues who may also find this to be a useful addition to Xero. They will be able to add their votes and comments on it too.

  13. History on Fixed asset settings (the global settings that control depreciation rules) - If any changes are done to the default effective life or rate setting(applied to new assets) Xero does not log those setting changes in the History and Notes. Add a History tab within Fixed Asset Settings timestamped log of “effective life default changed from 5 years to 7 years”. Also if any changes are done to the default settings an option to bulk change all assets changed to the previous effective rate without manually editing them.

Thanks for your idea, Imelda. Appreciate how this note in the history could be useful for businesses.

This isn't something we have plans for right now, but make sure to share your idea with others that could benefit and we can get a better sense of demand here.

In terms of the second request you've made we have another idea around bulk edit of assets that you may like to join and can stay updated of any progress through.

  14. As I inquired on how to modify a report to allow for printing the column headings on multiple pages, Xero Support told me that I should "export the report and add the headings on page breaks".

Come on, Xero. That response was like a QuickBooks response! Surely someone at Xero must realize that when a report spans multiple pages, the user frequently may need to refer back to page one to be sure they understand what the numbers they are viewing are related to. Multiple page reports SHOULD have the column headings repeat on every page the report prints on…

Thanks for raising this idea, Alan. We can understand how including column headings across every page of a printed or exported report could make longer reports much easier to read and review.

We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. If this would improve your reporting workflow, add your vote and share which reports you use most often where repeated headings would be most valuable.

  15. It would be nice to be able to attach customers to groups within the contact details screen. Due to the way Xero works, every single customer has to be attached to at least two different groups for reporting purposes. I have one group called Customers so that I get every customer an no other entities in reports. The next I have to attach the customer to a state since there is no availability to create reports of sales by state.

Thanks for bringing this idea to the community. We can understand why being able to add a contact to a group directly from an individual contact record could make managing contacts more efficient, particularly when you're already updating their details.

At the moment, contact groups can only be managed from the Contacts list. From there, you can select one or more contacts and use Add to group to assign them to an existing contact group in bulk.

We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community's interest.

  16. When filtering Account Transactions report by contact, show only contacts in the report, rather than all contacts.
Would make conducting a review a lot easier - i.e. if you are reviewing one account in particular.

Thanks for sharing this idea Megan. At the moment, while you can filter the Account Transactions report by contact, Xero doesn’t narrow that filter list down to only the contacts that appear in the selected account and date range. Instead, you need to search for and select the contact you want from the wider contact list.

We are moving your idea to Gaining Support. This helps us gauge community interest and better understand how many customers would benefit from Xero surfacing only the relevant contacts found in the report results.

For now, the best available option is to search for the specific contact you want to filter by.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on the feedback and update the idea if there’s any progress to share.

Thanks for highlighting this opportunity. We understand the request for Xero Tax to calculate Excess Contributions Tax when preparing Australian tax returns.

We've updated this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If this would improve your workflow, add your vote and share how this would support your tax preparation process.

  18. Automatically include GST, PAYG and Super in the cashflow manager report. This would be quite easy an implementation, as all that needs to happen is the report pulls the BAS & Super payment settings (for the dates), and adds in the amounts to cashflow manager.

  20. Display account and GST status when viewing account transactions page

Another post said "While Xero works on failed AI features like Jax and auto reconcile which no one asked for... basic features like this are missing and causing suffering." I agree.

Seems dumb Xero does not display the essentials of a transaction.

Like most people, I spend > 60% of my time coding and checking for correct account and GST status, so why not have those displayed when the data is very easy to show. Just add those columns.
