  1. I currently can't export the quarterly activitiy statement due to too many transactions so produce monthly reports via custom date reports, however there is no option here to include unfiled amounts and therefore the reports are not matching the quarterly statement amount.

  2. Dear Xero,

    Please!.. Ideally, accurate references on all source documents should be able to link them to their Payment transactions in Xero. However, it can be extremely difficult and time-consuming - especially with Spend/Receive Money transactions.

    It would be incredibly helpful for a column of 'Link ID's' to be displayed on all detailed reports.

    Doesn't need to be fancy, just a Unique ID.

    This link ID would need to be automatically generated by Xero, and, have the ability to change dynamically in the case a payment is removed (as one of many examples).

    Hi Callum, appreciate you highlighting how a unique payment reference field could support reconciliation workflows. Your suggestion about displaying Link IDs on detailed reports to track account movements is a valuable feedback.

    This idea has now moved to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for community support through votes and comments. We encourage other members who would find this helpful to add their votes and share their experiences.

    In the meantime, a practical workaround is to use the “Reference” field consistently. When creating invoices, include a unique reference code for the payment (for example, PAY-1001), and when receiving payments, enter the same reference in the “Reference” field. This ensures that the data will appear in the Reference column in both the Receivable Invoice report and the Account Transactions report when run for the relevant bank account, making it easier to track and reconcile payments.

  3. New GST return layout and a few thoughts around it :-
    1) when you export the PDF, the file name only shows as eg, GST return 01022024 for a GST return for period ending 31 March 2024. Why can't it show the client's company name, GST return followed by Period end date?
    2) when you try to export the PDF with accounting firm logo - it doesn't seem to work and who has "minutes" to wait for it to download?

    Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on the new GST return and while I've made sure your feedback has been shared with product, we're going to close this idea being too broad to focus in on a particular change.

    We've created individual ideas for the following points raised as it'd be good to track the interest in each separately. Please do add your vote to each that you'd like to see.

    I'd also encourage raising a case with our specialists at Xero Support if you're having any issues with performance or usability as it'd be good to get more detail and our team can investigate.

  4. Currently you are unable to concurrently search and sort results in manual journals, and can only do one or the other. Searching resets the sort to default (newest first), and sorting clears search parameters.

    Please consider adding the ability to do both.

    Hey Jon, thanks for sharing this idea. Being able to sort and filter manual journals from the Manual Journals screen would make things a lot easier, especially when you're trying to track something down quickly.

    We really appreciate you calling out how this could save time and help streamline your workflow. While some sorting/filtering is possible via the Manual Journal screen, we get that it’s not quite the same and adds a few extra steps.

    This idea’s now in the Gaining Support stage. Every vote and comment helps us understand how useful this would be for the wider Xero community and gives our product team more insight when planning what’s next.

  5. For the Annual Financial Statements, it may be useful to include the entity’s registration number directly beneath the entity’s name in brackets — for example:

    The New Company (Pty) Ltd
    (2025/######/07).

    This can be applied on both the cover page and in the header for consistency

  6. It would be great if we could add a "files" column to account transactions to view attached files without the need to drill into each separate transaction. This feature is already available in VAT returns.

  8. Please add a VAT Reconciliation Report for South African Xero Orgs.
    There is currently no report that allows users to determine which transactions in the VAT Control Account have been posted to which VAT periods and which returns they fall under. Late claims are not indicated anywhere except in the transaction detail within each VAT201, so the Control Account needs to be reconciled externally in excel.
    This is particularly an issue when a conversion from another accounting software has taken place and there are opening balances to reconcile. Or if conversion took place mid VAT period.

It would save time and avoid accounting errors if a new document type existed (akin to Bills) that can be sent to recipients (contacts) generating the accounting transactions appropriate for distributions such as dividends and appointments from trusts. Those transactions would be on equity and assets accounts (not expense accounts and accounts payable as is the case for Bills).

    It would be great if such processing could be applied to contacts in bulk (e.g. a shareholders register) but the possibility of accounting for distributions singly would be a good start.

    I am a trustee and the usual distributions are cash…

  10. The delivered response to my previous idea was no correct. The aged summary/detail reports only show what is outstanding.
    The report I am requesting is to show the turnover, monthly across 12 months so that we can see what we have spent with a supplier each month for that year, but also what a customer has spent with us.

    Appreciate you creating a new idea to confirm what was missing within Xero's reports that you'd like to see, Les. Being open this isn't something we have any plans for right now, but we'll continue to track the interest through your idea here and we'll share if there are any updates planned.

  11. Allow self employed who are not VAT registered to use MTD.
    I've just signed up to submit accounts via MTD with HMRC but Xero currently don't allow me to do this unless I use an accountant. I use Xero so I don't need an accountant... I'm now a bit stuck as HMRC require me to submit account for the current 2025-2026 tax year this way and I have no way of doing this. Please help! thanks.

    Thanks for your interest in Xero’s MTD for IT beta and for sharing this idea here. In the first phase of our beta, we’re only supporting Xero Partners.

    However this will be rolled out to users without an accountant, please complete our expression of interest form to register your interest and we’ll be in touch when we have more information on expanding the beta.   12. As well as my self-employment, I received income through Employment that currently I cannot declare through Xero's MTD for Income Tax implementation, and therefore I cannot use Xero for filing. The addition of allowing me to declare income through Employment via Xero would allow me and others like me to do so.

  13. A Custom Aged Receivables report that can be generated with additional fields selected (banking details as per attached Netcash Template) for import to Netcash to create a debit batch. Xero will then also have to make provision for to the banking details fields on the contact's account as required by Netcash.

    Hi community, this idea has been created from feedback in this initial idea. While we are interested to get a better pulse on the interest in this, we want to front foot that we don't have any plans for this change.

    Switching from landscape to portrait was made based on a lot of feedback and testing, so we'd want to see a fair amount of support through the idea here to consider making another change.

  15. Report Codes ability to edit from Chart of Accounts, not separate area. I see that you have marked previous suggestions as completed, because you've added a button. It isn't a button we are seeking, it is the ability to edit directly within COA, rather than having to go elsewhere. The elsewhere is still a useful tool to help identify when clients have added their own codes, but from a click minimisation perspective why not have COA and Report Codes integrated, and provide us with a field to add our nominated report code.

    Hi Justine, thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how integrating report code editing directly into the Chart of Accounts could streamline your workflow. After reviewing this with our product team, we're updating the status to 'Not in pipeline', which means it isn't on the foreseeable roadmap. The idea will remain open for votes so we can continue to gauge community interest. We value your feedback and encourage you to keep sharing your thoughts with us.

  16. Report codes for notes disclosure - I use chart of accounts for notes disclosures, rather than relying on remembing to manually edit numbers within notes. It would be helpful if there could be a category we could choose under Equity which was for Notes Disclosure or Non-Reporting. The entries always contra, so it would be helpful to not have to edit the report layout for each additional new code.

    Thanks Justine, for your suggestion and for explaining how you’re using report templates and codes for notes disclosures.

    We’ve reviewed this idea with the product team and it’s not something we’re planning to develop right now, so we’ve marked it as Not in pipeline. While this won’t move ahead, we’re continuing work in related areas like Trusted Notes and code‑driven reporting, and we’ll keep monitoring interest in this space for future planning.

  17. Please can you consider offering a accounts transaction report that allows you to see transaction by unique customer account number - otherwise what is the point of having a unique customer account number?

  19. We have clients where a sigificant proportion of their sales are Zero rated, which can significanly affect both net and VAT totals in certain boxes as well as the overall value in box 5 to be paid/repaid.

    Could you create a report that allows the totals in boxes 1-9 to be listed, allowing comparison with prior months or periods or years.

    This will be useful to see, say, the last 3 months or the corresponding prior year amounts so that percentages can be reviewed.
